“Let’s go. You must be exhausted, so let’s get some early rest. We can visit the other placesÂ
tomorrow.”Â
Mason held her hand tightly in his palm. Under the dim yellow streetlights, their shadows stretched long and thin along the road–one tall, one short–close to each other.Â
When they returned to the hotel, Ava felt a wave of fatigue. She said good night to Mason, closed the door, and went into her room.Â
Mason stood outside her door, staring at the room number for quite a while. In the end, he let out a quiet sigh, took out his own key card, and opened his door.Â
Come on, what was he expecting?Â
Ava slept through the night without dreaming. She woke up before the alarm rang, having slept deeply without any nightmares. After getting up and tidying herself, she felt a slight soreness all over her body.Â
Once she was dressed, Ava moved a chair to the window and sat down, looking out at the city that was still sleeping.Â
Snow was falling again.Â

The ground, the tree branches, and the rooftops were all covered in a thick layer of white. In the quiet darkness, even the streetlights were buried beneath it, with only faint dots of orange light peeking through.Â
Ava did not speak. She quietly enjoyed this rare, snowy scene at dawn. Only after the sky fully brightened did she rise from the chair. She stretched lazily and went to the bathroom to washÂ
- up.Â
Just as she finished getting ready, the doorbell rang. Mason stood outside her door. Seeing her lively and refreshed expression, he said, “Looks like you had a good night’s sleep. You look great.”Â
Ava replied, “Give me a moment to put on my shoes.”Â
She sat on the small stool by the door, took a pair of shoes from the cabinet, and then pulled out a pair of striped socks from a bag.Â
Mason stood there, his gaze following her movements. His eyes slowly settled on the pink slippers with little puppy patterns she was wearing. As she slipped her feet out, her toes movedÂ

unconsciously. Her big toe was painted a bright cherry–red nail polish that stood out vividly.Â
Her feet were as delicate and small as she was, soft and adorable. While he observed her, Mason asked, “What size are your feet?”Â
Ava was putting on her socks when she paused in surprise, then looked up at him. “I’m a size 6. I can also fit into a half size larger.”Â
As she spoke, she put on one shoe. “Why are you asking?”Â
“Of course I need to know. I can’t not know your size,” he replied.Â
After putting on both shoes, Ava stood up right away, stamped her feet twice, and said, “Let’s go.”Â
The two left together. They went to have breakfast first, then climbed into Jalal’s car.Â
According to their schedule, they’d be leaving Pluto that night. On their last day here, she only wanted to visit two places. One was Winter Wonderland, an amusement park suitable for allÂ
ages.Â
The other was a popular photo spot called the Eternal Bridge.Â
When they arrived at the first destination, Ava couldn’t help but let out a gasp. There were so many people, and it was much more crowded than the amusement park near Holcomb Hospital. More importantly, the entire park was built from carved blocks of ice, assembled piece by piece.Â
Ava’s childlike innocence burst out all at once, and she seemed to slip straight back into her childhood. She looked around at the people nearby with keen interest, eager to try everything.Â
It was a busy crowd. Mason stayed close by her side, quietly releasing a trace of pressure that subtly pushed others away, leaving Ava a bit more space.Â
Jalal went to get them all–access tickets, then stepped aside to find something to do on his own.Â
Because of her painful experience on a roller coaster before, Ava was extra careful this time. Before joining any ride, she deliberately observed the people who had just gotten off, checking their expressions and conditions. Only after seeing that they were fine did she go ahead and participate.Â
Mason had no interest in these childlike attractions. He stood outside like an old father, watching her play with unrestrained joy. She’s just like a kid, he thought.Â
After snapping a few candid photos, he quietly admired them for a moment. Then, following the idea that joy should be shared, he very ‘kindly‘ sent them to the small group chat that the five of them shared.Â

Ryan wrote, ‘Who cares if you guys are at Pluto? You don’t have to show off! If you’ve got the guts, why not post these photos in the main group? Why are you sending it here?‘Â
‘You should really let Ava see that smug, petty look of yours,’ he added. ‘What a loser!‘Â
Keith reminded, ‘Ava likes taking photos. I already went around with her once yesterday!Â
Ryan replied, ‘Tsk! The day before yesterday, Ava came to my place, and I even listened to her play the guitar. She’s so talented. Check them out!‘Â
In Ryan’s photo, Ava was sitting on a chair with a guitar in her arms. She was completely focused on playing the instrument.Â
