a dam in the middle that powers a hydroelectric station. The water beneath the ice is warm because it flows out from the dam, so it doesn’t freeze.”

Ava nodded in understanding. “That makes sense now. No wonder it looks so magical.”

They continued walking along the path, and Ava took a few photos of the frost sparkling in the sunlight. Mason followed a few steps behind, watching her move ahead–touching this, examining that, never idle for a moment. She clearly loved this. He slid his Holoband out and quietly snapped a few photos of her from behind.

“Excuse me, miss, could you help us take a photo of our family?” Just then, a young woman dressed fashionably approached Ava, with several men standing beside her.

Ava immediately agreed. The group arranged themselves, the young woman in the center like the sun with planets circling, and the men positioned around her, their gazes full of affection.

Ava lifted the camera and snapped a bunch of photos.

“Thank you! These are perfect. Would you like one too? I’m a professional photographer, and I take really nice pictures. I can take one for you as well.”

Ava was about to decline, but Mason stepped forward, took her hand, and said to the woman, “We’d like that, miss.”

They stood where the family had just posed. Naturally, Mason draped his hand over her shoulder, almost pulling her into his embrace. Ava felt slightly embarrassed.

“Relax and give me a smile. Yes, that’s perfect. Let’s take another one.

“Alright, I want you to look at your man… Excellent!”

The young female photographer watched the couple, thinking they were a great match. The restrained, romantic tension between them was evident, the kind she had read about in countless romance novels. It sparked a flurry of fantasies for her.

Once she was done, she sent the photos to Ava’s Holoband, leaned closer, and whispered, “You’ve got great taste in men. Way to go!”

Ava stiffened slightly. The photographer waved and left, leaving Ava momentarily at a loss for words. She glanced at Mason, who was watching her as well.

She forwarded their photos to him.

Mason opened the photos and stared at their portraits, not looking away. After a moment, he said, “Not bad at all.”

He set one of the pictures as his Holoband’s background, then looked at Ava and said, “Let’s go.”

He stepped forward and took her hand as they walked side by side.

Ava stayed on the inner side of the path, with Mason on the outer. They didn’t speak at first, but the air between them carried a subtle, lingering tension.

Exiting the frost–covered grove, they reached a waist–high fence, and the path widened. Beyond the fence, clusters of plum blossoms had been planted.

The red plums bloomed brilliantly in the snow, the contrast of red and white dazzling in the winter landscape.

Ava gasped at the sight. She had seen pictures online, but nothing compared to seeing it in person. The visual impact was far more intense. She immediately let go of Mason’s hand, skipped across the path, and gazed in awe at the sea of flowers.

The red plums were dusted with snow, creating a scene entirely different from the frost they had just left behind. Ava stood on tiptoe to reach a branch, but she was just a few inches too short. Her fingers couldn’t quite touch it.

Mason stepped forward, gently pressing the branch down for her, careful not to shake any snow onto her head.

Ava touched the vibrant blossom, bringing it close to her nose to inhale its fragrance. “It smells amazing.”

She released the branch, and as it snapped back, snow fell down. Ava reached out to catch it, letting the snow settle in her palms. Mason watched her childish delight, as if holding a handful of snow gave her the whole world.

He quickly snapped a few photos with his Holoband. “If we keep going this way, we’ll reach the Eternal Bridge. Do you want to head there?”

Ava clapped her hands and nodded eagerly. “Yes, let’s go see it!”

At the bridge, a huge stone stele stood with the words ‘Eternal Bridge‘ carved into it. The frozen lake was packed with people of all ages skating and playing on the ice,
