Sebastian Montclair stood at the doorway, arms crossed, watching the call end on Ethan’s screen. “So, when are you going to introduce her?”
Ethan glanced at him and said, “Maybe another time.”
Sebastian pushed up his glasses as his crimson eyes glinted with amusement. “Can’t believe it. You, of all people, actually guard someone this tightly after having a woman in your life. I’ve got to admit, I’m curious… What kind of woman could break through your ironclad self–control?”
They’d known each other for years–not just as friends, but as business partners.
They’d been college classmates–one became a lawyer, the other went into the civil service.
Now, Sebastian was a high–profile attorney, yet few people knew about his connection to Ethan–or that Ethan co–owned the firm with him.
Ethan gave him a faint look. “You talk too much.”
Sebastian laughed, loud and unrestrained. “Ethan, when you don’t need me, I talk too much. When you do, I’m your best friend.”
Ethan picked up his coat from the couch and slipped it on with meticulous care. “I’m leaving.”
Sebastian’s gaze lingered. This guy had always been disciplined, the kind of son every parent bragged about -the one who seemed destined to stay single forever.
Yet here he was, already with a girlfriend, leaving Sebastian genuinely intrigued. What kind of woman could tame someone so rigid, so precise in everything he did?
“You are just as boring with your girlfriend too, huh?” Sebastian teased.
Ethan ignored him and walked past.
Sebastian shrugged. “Next week’s law lecture. Don’t even think about standing me up.”
Besides his legal career, Sebastian also served as a deputy dean and professor at Starry Heavens University’s Law Department.
When Ethan didn’t respond, Sebastian muttered, “Love’s a pain…”
After ending the call with Ethan, Ava sent a few more messages. Soon, she noticed Zoey and the others had started a small group chat, inviting everyone to dinner.
She quickly replied, tidied up, and headed to the meeting spot they’d agreed on.
When she arrived, only Malory was there. Ava walked over. “You got here fast.”
Malory had put on a bold, edgy makeup look. Ava took one look at her “bad–girl” outfit and frowned. “Why
are you dressed like this again? You’re a pretty girl–are you trying to make fun of yourself?” Are you dressed like this again? You’re a pretty

Malory spun around in place. “Doesn’t it look good?”

Ava shook her head. “It’s just… not you. Seems like your brothers‘ opinions rubbed off on you a lot.”
Whose brothers would influence their sister to this extent?
“But I’ve always dressed like this! Nobody ever said it looked bad. My friends even said it’s a good look.”
Ava stared at her in disbelief. “You call this a good look? Then your taste really is… unusual.”
While they were talking, Naomi, Zoey, and Noelle arrived together. All three froze at Malory’s outfit.
Zoey clutched her chest. “Malory, are you going for the villainess vibe?”
Noelle sized her up and glanced at Ava. “No wonder you two could already argue during the first week of training. Savage!”
Naomi laughed, pointing at Malory’s makeup. “Girl, dressed like that, you’re going to scare everyone off.”
Malory lowered her head. “So… it really doesn’t look good?”
Everyone shook their heads. Naomi said, “Forget it for today. Honestly, you’d be better off not trying. In a few days, I’ll take you to my stylist—he can design something that actually suits you.”
Malory’s bright expression fell. “Alright… I’ll listen and fix it.”
The group headed to a restaurant near campus for dinner. It was peak dinner time, and after trying a few places, every table was full.
“Ava, you’re here too?”
Aya turned at the voice and saw Dario and some familiar faces.
Malory waved at them, then glanced at Linden. “Captain Oestergaard, training’s over–what’s with the reunion?”
These were the same people from the last week of training.
Linden replied, “Training’s over. No need to call me captain anymore.”
“Alright then, Linden.”
“We reserved a private room and were just about to start dinner. Lucky coincidence–we saw you here. If you haven’t found a table yet, you’re welcome to join. At this hour, it’s almost impossible to get a seat,” Linden said coolly.
