Chapter 47 Choosing a RoomÂ
Mason turned to look at her. “Which room do you like? Lean have someone redo it.Â
“Ah.” Ava waved her hands right away. “No, no. I live just fine at the Morren Residence. You don’t need to change anything for me.”Â
“Ava, you just said you’d try to accept me. If you ever stay out overnight, I need to keep a room for you. If you want, I’d be honored to give you my bedroom.”Â
unded a little naive.Â
Ava hadn’t thought that far. She still “If I go out, I can still go back to the Morren Residence. If I don’t go home, my family will worry.”Â

and honest. That made him seem like the one with hidden:Â
“Ava, you’re twenty–five. You’re an adult, and you’re in a stable relationship. The Morren family won’t interfere that much. A normal couple dates. Staying out overnight once in a while is normal. As long as you tell them ahead of time, they won’t worry.”Â
He tried to persuade her, but he couldn’t be too direct. He didn’t want to seem impatient.Â
Ava had dated before. Both relationships had been bad experiences. She understood quickly and said awkwardly, “Then maybe you can clear out a spot on the third floor. Somewhere near the terrace is fine.”Â
The second floor was his master bedroom. She never even considered it. If she had to choose, she chose the third floor.Â
When Mason heard her answer, he sighed to himself and thought it was exactly what he’d expected. It didn’t matter. He could give in to her. He already had a plan in mind. He smiled and said, “Then I’ll hire a designer. You can tell them what you want and talk it through.”Â
Ava frowned. “Isn’t that too much trouble? Maybe we should forget it. I live well at the Morren Residence. If it gets too late, I can just stay at a hotel.”Â
“How is that trouble? It’s my honor, my lady of the house.”Â
He had lived here alone before, so he hadn’t needed many rooms. Any rooms that could be combined had been opened up. Now things were different. He had a wife. This house was about to welcome its lady. Of course, it needed to be replanned and renovated.Â
That title made Ava’s face heat up. On paper, they were married, so she did count as the lady of the house. Still, they weren’t close. She couldn’t step into that role yet, which made her feel stiff and uneasy.Â
Mason felt she was unusually innocent when it came to relationships. She was nothing like most women her age. Most young women had plenty of men chasing them. Very few were as cautious as she was.Â
When men got close, she reacted with instinctive avoidance. He didn’t understand why yet. He assumed she just wasn’t comfortable. In a way, that was a good thing. If men tried to get close to her in the future, openlyÂ
or secretly, their plans would probably fail because of her personality.Â
He had never thought he’d marry this young. He once believed that maybe around seventy, he’d pick a woman who looked acceptable. There would be no love, just a deal. A contract wife. Two heirs. As for theÂ

But fate had forced this match. He liked Ava. He had actually started thinking about spending his life with her.Â
Over the past two days, he had seen the messages the others sent. He had been furious. That afternoon, she had kept hinting that she wanted him to end their relationship. That had made him very angry.Â
He looked at her flushed checks, pushed those thoughts aside, and smiled. “Did I say something wrong? Let’s go find your sister, We’ll eat out together. If I don’t take you over soon, your sister will probably drag Cassius here.”Â
It was 4:30 pm. It wasn’t early or late.Â
Ava didn’t want to stay alone with him anymore. They hadn’t ended the relationship, and they still weren’t familiar with each other. It felt awkward. With Jane and the others around, she felt more relaxed.Â
Mason made a video call to Cassius, then drove Ava to meet them. When she saw the row of light armored vehicles in his underground garage, she thought to herself that he was ridiculously loaded.Â
While starting the car, Mason explained, “I really liked cars a few years ago, so I collected a lot of classic models. Many of them are discontinued now. I haven’t played with cars in years, though.”Â
Ava gave an awkward smile. “I get it.”Â
If she had money, she’d also spend it on her hobbies. She had been poor for over twenty years. She instinctively converted everything into dollar amounts in her head.Â
About ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of a private restaurant. Jane and the other two were already waiting there.Â
Mason got out first. He walked to the passenger side and opened the door for her. He held out his hand. Ava stared at his palm, sighed quietly to herself, and placed her hand into his.Â
