Chapter 78 Helping Her with the FoodÂ
Ava blinked, a bit slow on the uptake, glancing at Asher and then back at the group of guys.Â
Is there something I’m not aware of?Â

After seeing the doubt on her expression, Jane said, “Come on, Ava, you know Asher. That mouth of his never knows when to shut up.”Â
Asher slid back to his seat, sitting up straight. “I was just alking. Can’t even say a thing now?”Â
Meanwhile, at the other end, the house was already setting out lunch. Elias waved a few of the younger ones over to sit.Â
Ava had been planning to sit next to Jane, but Louis beat her to it. “Ava, Jane’s been with you all morning. Don’t try to fight me for lunch, too.”Â
Ava stepped aside without a word. Asher leaned in. “Ava, come sit with me.”Â
Elias shot a warning glance at the unruly Asher. Confronted with Elias‘ serious stare, Asher hesitated for a second, then quickly scooted over to sit next to Cassius.Â
The Morrens all picked their spots, leaving just a few seats together. Ava ground her teeth quietly.Â
They really know how to plan!Â
Jane covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. “Ava, hurry up and sit. If you don’t, nobody else is gonna dare.”Â
Ava glanced at Christian, about to speak, but he cut her off. “I never sit next to anyone but Jane.”Â
Ava froze, completely speechless.Â
Wow, he really sticks to his man code!Â
Jonathan came downstairs, too. Seeing them still just standing there, he said, “Why are you just standing? Ava, sit in the middle.”Â
Before he even finished, Ava hadn’t even taken her seat yet, and in the blink of an eye, people had already filled the chairs on either side of her.Â
Ava couldn’t help but feel a little speechless.Â
Jane was leaning on the table, shrugging and laughing nonstop.Â
Once Ava sat down, Ryan settled on her left and Lauren on her right.Â
Ava always ate slowly, savoring every bite. Pretty soon, someone scooped a bit of food from the serving dishes with the serving utensils into her bowl. She hesitated for a moment and glanced at Laurent.Â
He said, “I figured you might not reach it. Don’t like it?”Â
“No, thanks.” Meeting those brown–green eyes, Ava didnt want to make him uncomfortable. She lowered her gaze and used her fork and knife to put a piece in her mouth.Â
Ryan shot Laurent a look, then waited until Ava had eaten most of what was in her bowl. He grabbed another dish with the serving utensils and placed some in her bowl. His expression stayed stiff as he said,Â

After that, she never got a chance to serve herself again. She was glad no one was hovering over her with a fork, or she might have questioned her whole existenceÂ
The others at the table ate quietly, pretending not to notice, while Jane clicked her tongue a couple of times.Â
Anyone witnessing this would be completely floored.”Â
Ava had just survived the most mortifying meal of her life. After seeing the Morrens all so calm, she gritted. her teeth, forced herself to finish her plate, and then finally dropped her fork and knife with a sigh. “I’m full!”Â
Ryan looked at her, eyes wide. “You ate that little?”Â
“I had a big breakfast, so I’m not super hungry,” she said. After enduring such a socially embarrassing meal, she didn’t care whether anyone else was watching–she just wanted it over.Â
After lunch, the Morrens elders slipped away without a trace, and Jane hustled off with her three husbands, leaving the Morren Residence in a hurry. Asher didn’t feel like dealing with the other guys either, so he found some excuse to sneak out.Â
Ava glanced around, then said gently, “I’ve already kept you all a whole day. Let me see you out.” She didn’t wait for anyone to reply and just walked straight to the front door.Â
Ryan trailed behind her and couldn’t help muttering, “Wow, you really don’t want us hanging around, huh? Just finished eating and already kicking us out?”Â
Ava’s perfectly arched brows knit slightly. She gave him once–over and said thoughtfully, “I just figured you might be tired too. Probably want to get home, freshen up, and get some sleep.”Â
Hearing her say that made Ryan feel a little better, but he wasn’t sure how to respond. He just lifted his chin in a mock show of approval. “That’s more like it.”Â
Ava led the way, walking fast enough to make the wind chase her heels. Her waist curved gracefully, dark hair cascading down her back. A soft breeze caught it, carrying the faint scent of shampoo, drifting right up to their noses.Â
It was almost like they’d all silently agreed to slow down letting her breeze ahead. She moved like a butterfly fluttering off, her dress swaying with each step, graceful and effortless. There was no doubt about it. She was stunning. Her figure was perfectly proportioned, every detail just right, and it hit the person straight in the heart.Â
Ava had no idea how many eyes were on her from behind. She walked for a while before realizing the footsteps behind her had faded. She stopped, turned her head, and looked back.Â
Wow, we’re still a good three or five meters apart.Â
She stopped in her tracks.Â
When they got closer, Ava spoke up, “I’m not going to walk you guys out. But there’s something I need to tell you. Someone told me today that this so–called forced match thing? It’s not really about choice. My genes picked you before I ever did. Honestly, I never wanted to admit it, and I’ve tried to avoid facing it. But I get it now. From now on, I’ll try to keep in touch with you. But there’s a condition before that happens.”Â
