Austin felt a pang of regret but reassured himself that future chances would arise. He genuinely liked this young woman—measured in action, gracious in manner, and consistently respectful in speech and demeanor.Â
His impression of her was exceedingly favorable. Given her background as a young lady of the Morren family from Capitol Planet, she had no need to show such deference to someone like him.Â
Austin came from humble origins. Though not artificially cultivated, his family background was entirely ordinary. He had climbed step by step from the bottom to his current position.Â
Over the years, he had witnessed enough human apathy and understood the true character of those exalted heirs of great families.Â
That was why Ava’s candor and sincerity resonated with him so powerfully. It startled him.Â
Midway through their conversation, Ava failed to notice incoming messages because her optical brain was set to Do Not Disturb.Â
Jane checked the family’s message. Noticing the two still deep in discussion, she walked over. “Mr. Mett, I’m very sorry. We just received word–an important guest has arrived, and we’re urged to return immediately.”Â
Austin paused, reluctant. “Let’s continue next time, Ava. I’ll focus on your outfit and deliver it myself.”Â
“You’re too kind, Mr. Mett. You’ve already gone out of your way. We can collect it ourselves. If you can, please attend my coming–of–age party.”Â
The invitation caught Austin completely off guard. To be personally invited by a member of the Morren family was something he had never imagined. Even as a museum director, he had no real ties to those towering aristocratic clans.Â
Austin smiled. “Since you invited me, I’ll attend.”Â
After exchanging a few more words, the Morren sisters departed together for home, while Asnio returned to his personal studio.Â
Jane said quietly, “Ava, as a Morren, you don’t need to be so courteous. Mr. Mett isn’t directly tied to our family.”Â
She had wanted to say something sharper, but out of regard for Asnio, she restrained herself.Â
“I understand, Jane,” Ava replied softly. “My invitation was sincere. I’m glad to help preserve this legacy.”Â
Jane’s upbringing differed from Ava’s. Like many heirs of this era, she was proud, rarely blending with those from lower strata, and saw social boundaries as sharply defined.Â
Jane sighed. “Forget it. The message says officials are coming to check on you.”Â
“So soon? Will they take me away for research?” Ava asked.Â
She knew she might be worrying unnecessarily, but anxiety prickled within her. If she truly was the first of her kind in this world, pretending not to be anxious would be a lie.Â

“It’s routine,” Jane assured. “When my force awakened, officials came too. Afterwards, the Head of State approved the title. Don’t worry.”Â
Ava leaned back. “I just hope they don’t treat me as an anomaly.”Â
Jane laughed. “More likely, you’ll be a national treasure the first female elemental power user.”Â
When they arrived at the Morren residence, several of the family’s leading figures were already present, along with three unfamiliar individuals.Â
“Ava, come here to your grand–uncle,” Jonathan beckoned to her, then turned to the visitors. “This is our Morren family’s second heir, Ava. You may proceed.”Â
“Ms. Morren,” one of them said, “we’re here today simply to verify your abilities. Please don’t feel any pressure. Could you now demonstrate your elemental power for us?”Â
As soon as he finished speaking, another person thoughtfully prepared a flowerpot and a seed. Seeing this, Ava understood–they wanted direct proof.Â
Her expression calm, she stepped forward and opened her palm. A tiny sapling, suffused with a soft green glow, unfurled itself in her hand and appeared before everyone. She placed the seed into the soil, closed her eyes, purified the earth first, and only then began to stimulate the seed’s growth.Â
No one dared breathe as they stared at the pot. In the blink of an eye, the seed broke through the soil, growing steadily until it was more than a foot tall. Ava stopped. “This is as far as I can make it grow,” she said.Â
The three visitors gazed at the plant, astonishment etched on their faces. The shock of witnessing it firsthand threatened to upend their composure.Â
“Congratulations, Ms. Morren. We’ll report this truthfully and take the plant. We’ll notify you if there’s anyÂ
news.”Â
