The Five Powerhouses Who Match the Unwilling Bride

Chapter 94 The Argument

Finished

Ryan didn’t want to meet their eyes, like he didn’t belong in that little triangle. So he tightened his grip just a bit, fingers interlacing with Ava’s.

Laurent caught that tiny move and smirked, saying nothing.

Ava got annoyed. Let go! Both of you, seriously, let go or I’m gonna lose it!”

Sensing retreat was smart, Laurent loosened his hold. Ran followed suit, letting go as well.

Mason pulled out a wet wipe and handed it to Ava, moving slowly. Here, wipe your hands. Or you can sit over here with us.”

Ava grabbed the wipe and meticulously cleaned every inch of her hands. I’m fine sitting alone. I want the passenger seat.”

Keith gently tapped the brake, easing off the speed. He’d seen the scene just now and noticed Ava’s irritation. Avie, keep your distance from those two. They have zero sense of gentlemanly behavior.”

Ryan shot Keith a look.

Gentlemanly behavior? Wasn’t he the one holding her hand the whole way just now? Why didn’t he bring up being a gentleman then?

If you are the driver, then just drive and mind your own d*mn business. Stop stirring things up. I am doing this legally. I am holding my wife’s hand. What the hell does that have to do with you? After that, Ryan shot Laurent another look. And this is on you, too. You kissed her out of nowhere and pissed her off.”

Laurent let out a cold laugh. Wasn’t it you pulling some sneaky move and getting caught? And now you are dumping it on me? I kissed my wife. What the hell does that have to do with you?”

Both of them kept throwing around the word wife.To Ava, it felt like her headache had just doubled. Are you two ever going to stop? What is this, a grade school fight? And listen carefully. I am warning you right now. We are only marriedin name. I expect you to respect me. Do not touch me without consent. I do not like it, and our relationship is nowhere near that point yet.”

After saying that, she leaned against the window and went quiet.

Mason spoke up, I was perfectly well behaved. I did not touch you at all.”

Hey, don’t get mad. Being angry only hurts yourself. Later on, just slap each of them once. Violating a woman’s will is a serious issue, gentlemen, so watch yourselves. If Ava decides to hold you accountable, I am not bending the law for anyone,Ethan said solemnly, sounding dead serious.

Alright, Avie. Once the car stops, you can start with my left cheek. If you still are not satisfied, I will turn my right cheek over for you, too,Keith replied, sneaking glances at her as he spoke.

Ava pretended she had not heard a word. She turned her head toward the window and showed everyone nothing but the back of her head.

Ryan felt his skin crawl at Keith’s words, goosebumps breaking out all over him.

He usually plays this whole detached, aboveitall act in public like some god sitting on a celestial altar with zero earthly desires. And now he is actually saying something this cringey, straightup cheesy. What makes it worse is how he keeps calling her Avie, again and again, as if we don’t see right through that little agenda of his.

Sat,

Ryan folded his arms across his chest and shot him a sideways look. Honestly, I would be more than happy to slap you on her behalf. Avie this, Avie that. You keep saying it as if you’re special. What, is it some secret pet name the rest of us are not supposed to know about

Keith let out a short scoff. If you are jealous, just say it. Why are you being all sarcastic? Whatever is going on between Ava and me, why would I need to explain it to you?”

To Ava, the noise around her started to blur into a constant buzz, like a swarm of flies circling her ears. There used to be a saying in her last life that three women made a show. Swap that for five men, and the drama did not get any better. She finally snapped. Can you all shut up for one second? You guys talk more than women. If you are that worked up, take it outside and fight later. She took a breath and added, Avie was just my childhood nickname. It is not some exclusive thing, so stop overthinking it.”

So Avieturns out to be just her childhood nickname. Tch. And here Keith was, quietly flexing like it meant something special, when it actually means absolutely nothing.

Ryan rolled his eyes at Keith and, for once, did not add anything else.

After that, the hovercar finally went quiet. Ava let out a small sigh of relief. She stared out the window at the clouds, her gaze full of silent resentment.

Too many men really are a headache.

When they arrived at the mall, the group took the elevator to the upper level. As usual, Ryan had gone all in on his disguise and walked openly with the others as they headed to Asnio’s private studio.

Once everyone was inside, Asnio flipped the sign on the door to temporarily closed and pulled all the curtains shut, sealing off the space.

Looking at the men around Ava, aside from Laurent, who felt unfamiliar, the rest were all prominent figures on Capitol Planet at the moment. Even without their powerful family backgrounds, their personal abilities alone were enough to make others feel completely outmatched.

Asnio had only recently learned that Jane’s younger sister, Ava, had been forcibly matched with five husbands before returning to the Morrens. The revelation had stunned him for quite some time.

Asnio, I am back again. I hope I am not disturbing you, Ava said politely.

Asnio broke into a warm smile. You coming here is an honor for me. Come on, sit down inside.”

Austin had arrived early that morning and spent some time exchanging ideas with Asnio. He was genuinely looking forward to today. He had been so absorbed in making clothes these past few days that he still had no idea Ava had awakened her elemental power.
