You know this, but then you have the audacity to get cocky? Don’t forget that you would have never seen Keith again after he left you to marry Jasmine had it not been for me. I found you in that sorry state you were in, took you in and offered you a deal. I can easily take it all away from you. Never forget the floor you walk on, is made of thin 

ice.” 

I swallowed hard knowing he was right. 

“Do you understand?” he asked me in a threatening tone. 

“Yes, I do,” I could only reply. “I’m sorry.” I quickly apologised. 

“Our agreement is simple,” he said as he released my chin. “You get your precious Keith and you make sure Marco becomes his heir.” 

I nodded as he spoke. 

“He has to divorce Jasmine and marry you and the only way that can happen is if you keep his attention on you. Find a way to get back into his favor.” he instructed me. 

“And about Jasmine, I will look into this new situation she’s found herself in. I suggest you focus solely on Keith’s attention right now. You should be careful when dealing with her. She’s now with Louis Carrington the owner of the restaurant she was working at. I don’t know how that happened but she won’t be as easy to pick on as before,” he informed me. 

Louis Carrington! I felt I was getting whiplash from all this new information he was sharing with me. How didJasmine get with the CEO? This was the new boyfriend of hers that the ladies had been talking about? But the Gatwick situation? What had happened to that? I hadn’t received an update on Gatwick since I heard he was fired. 

“What is that expression, what did you do?” he demanded. 

“I tried to get Jasmine fired from her job by contacting Carrington CEO assistant,” I 

admitted. 

He clicked his tongue. “The surprises just don’t end with you do they?” He asked me. “Looks like I’ll have to fix that as well. You get so wrapped up in getting back at her you forget what you should be focused on.”

His gaze then focused on my healing, bruised eye. 

“Nice eye,” he commented. “Let me guess another run in with Jasmine?” 

He then drew closer to me and brought a hand to me chin. I flinched at his touch. 

“You can’t hide how much you hate my touch, can you?” he said to me and forced me to look 

up at him. “Well it’s not like I like you either. But you chose this Diana. So did I. This is our agreement. In order for us to both get what we want,” he told me matter–of–factly. 

Then his eyebrow cocked. “Unless you’ve changed your mind that is?” 

“No, of course not,” I quickly responded. I’m sure he was joking. But even so, I didn’t want things to change. I couldn’t. I couldn’t see myself turning back on this plan after we’d been committed to it after all these years. 

“Exactly, we’re in too deep now,” he said as his hand went from chin my to my waist and he turned me away so my back was against his chest. Then I felt his hot breath 

“Please not here,” I begged him as his lips touched my neck. “Keith will notice if you leave any marks.” If that’s what he wanted this was neither the time nor place for this. 

His eyes met mine and then he rolled them. 

“Relax,” he told me. “From now on before you do anything you talk to me first, you hear me?” he told me. “With Keith doubting you he’s probably going to start watching your every move. I would lay low to prevent him having further suspicions on you. Focus on regaining his attention again. I’ll see how to deal with this Jasmine situation.” 

“Okay,” I responded. 

“I’ll call you soon. Don’t ignore me,” he said. He the shifted as if he was about to walk away but then he stopped himself. “Remember, Diana if you’re useless I’ll get rid of you,” he whispered in my ear making my body tremble in fear. 

‘I promise I won’t disappoint you,” I replied in fear. 

He then paused midway. My fearful eyes stared at him. 

“I forgot to ask how is Marco doing?” 

“He’s fine,” I replied. 

“You got the new refills right?”

“Yes, I did,” I informed him. 

“Good, watch him as well wouldn’t want Keith to be suspicious of that him as well.” 

When he finally walked out of the room, a breath I hadn’t realised I had been holding in, escaped from my mouth. 

My legs gave out and I fell to the floor for a moment. I would forget about him and then continue to live my life, almost believing the situation I was in wasn’t the reality only to be pulled out of the clouds like this. 

Though, I disliked him, I would admit I needed him. His plan hadn’t failed me thus far. The last two years had been incredible for me. Everything he told me to do had gone accordingly. Marco and I were taken in by Keith and I sabotaged Jasmine and with the servants he had put in place I was able to quickly regain Keith’s favor. 

Keith kicked Jasmine out of the house he was planning on marrying me. My dream of being his wife was coming true. Now Keith was doubting me? 

He would fix this. I’m sure he would. But I had to do my part. I had to find a way to earn his trust, again. 

After a moment I left the room and made my way back to the room where the party was taking place. My heart was still pounding in my chest. It took me a while to find Keith who was talking someone. 

“Keith,” I called out to him and he turned to look behind him. 

“Diana, where were you?” he asked me. 

“Sorry, I met with a friend and chatted with her for a bit,” I lied to him. 

“Are you alright?” he then asked me as he looked at me in concern. 

I supposed I was still in shock from meeting with him and hearing the information he shared with me. 

“Yes, I’m just a little out of breath,” I told him. My eyes studied his, trying to figure out his thoughts. After finding out he didn’t trust me anymore, I felt hurt. He was pretending that nothing was wrong as he investigated me behind my back.
