As I continued punching, I lost my balance and began to fall. Louis reacted quickly. Somehow he hooked one of my legs and switched our positions. I shrieked from the sudden movement. He landed on the floor and I on his chest with arms wrapped around me. O

How had he flipped our positions? Louis’s reflexes were something else.

My hands went to his chest and I lifted my torso and head to look at him. His hand, which had been covering the top of my head, protecting it, came away, and his other hand came to my waist.

Louis, are you alright?I asked him worried.

Yeah,” he replied in a small voice. His eyes focused on me. And you?”

Yeah, you completely protected me and took the brunt of the fall,I reminded him. I’m sure it would have been easier for him if he’d just pulled me up with him. Did he have to fall with me?

I would love to prove them wrong,he said.

What?I asked wondering what he was talking about.

That you can run a business the right way. Show you don’t have to hurt people in the process,” he said. He brought a hand up to my face he tucked a stray hair behind my

ear.

Then as if in a trance, our eyes remained locked on each other.

I would love to see it,I said to him and smiled.

His eyes seemed to be searching mine. For what, I didn’t know. I became conscious of our closeness, our heavy deep breaths, the glistening sweat on the skin of his exposed muscular arms and chest through the tank top he wore. The silence of the room became loud. I felt the beat of his heart through my hands that were on his chest.

I shouldn’t be having these thoughts I thought to myself. Unconsciously, I lowered my head bringing it closer to his. His hand went to cup my cheek whilst the other was holding my waist. His full lips parted, and so did mine.

Okay, I had my snack!I then heard Tony’s voice suddenly yell.

I glanced his way and saw him heading towards us. Immediately my body got off Louisand sat beside him. Heat coursed through my cheeks in embarrassment as I thought about what I was about to do to Louis. I heard Louis mutter something under his breath but didn’t hear it. Glancing at him I saw he looked annoyed.

Great we can start round two now,” he then said to Tony his expression completely

changing.

Maybe you should go have your own snack now,Louis then suggested to me.

Then got up from the floor and turned to me. Can you get up?he asked me.

Yeah, I think so, I answered. He then reached his arm out to me and helped me up.

Did you have lunch?he asked me.

I shook my head in response.

Well, no wonder you suddenly collapsed,Louis said to me.

Louis and I stopped our lesson there and said we’d continue another time. I then left the gym and went to grab a bite to eat.

After Tony and Louis were done with their session, Tony and I finally made a decision on the house we wanted. We factored in a lot of things, location, accessibility, etc. It was hard because they were all beautiful apartments. We settled on the apartment we saw on Friday which had an indoor pool. Mainly because Tony wanted it.

Louis said he’d have everything arranged so we could move in by Wednesday.

That evening I sat on my bed and looked at my mother’s medical documents. I was still in shock from the news. I already disliked my father for the way he treated my mother but to know that he was the one responsible for her death as wellwas just adding another layer to all this.

The information was very revealing and downright incriminating.

Why did Lawrence give me the document knowing what was in them? What did he feel about this? He surely knew the truth about our mother’s death. Not much since he hadn’t done anything about it so far. Still, I felt there was another reason behind his accepting giving the records to me.

My father thought he had gotten away with it, after all this time. He probably thought everything with my mother was all in the past and he had nothing to worry about. I

wanted to make him pay for his crimes. And this document here could be the key. I could use it to avenge my mother.

I removed the necklace I had worn today. I remembered when I was bedridden in a hospital in my past life. I held it in my palm and squeezed it in my hands, mimicking the way my mother held and prayed with it. In the hospital, I was always praying to get better so I could take care of Tony. My dying wish was to relive my life for Tony.

The religion my mother followed was an ancient one dating back centuries in the country. It was called Tanu. In the Tanu religion, there were multiple gods each responsible for different things. This necklace was a symbol of the god of wishes.

Kieftar.

Perhaps, he had been the one to grant my wish of reliving my life. Maybe, maybe not. I mean why didn’t Kieftar protect my mother? Then again my mother’s wish was for me not to live a life like hers…

The following day at work was uneventful. It was the start of my second week in my new position as the executive assistant. I was just doing my best to learn how everything worked.

It was on Tuesday that the Yorkshire General hospital then finally got back to my email on my inquiry about the symptoms of my sickness in my past life.

It was around 3pm, I had finished a meeting and had returned to my office to do some paperwork, when I checked my emails and saw the response.

My mouth was agape as I finished reading the email. As if the news of the true cause of my mother’s death wasn’t enough the news I received was even more shocking. The specialist had a theory about what could cause my sickness.

Dear Ms Towers,

I am one of the specialists who was assigned to handle your inquiry. An inquiry that was most puzzling and concerning. There are no diseases I know of or that any of the other specialists at the hospital know of that can lead to a slow failure of all internal organs and death.

That is the case as far as diseases are concerned. However, if a poison was involved the story would be different. There is a poison called Dicotone which can result in similar effects to the ones you listed, if given in small doses to a person over a long period of

time.

I’m assuming there’s someone you know who experienced what you described if you want we can look at the case to understand better what occurred.

Kind regards,
