LOUIS‘ POVÂ
My eyes widened as I realized she had in fact seen the email that time in my office.Â
“Aren’t you the one who said it was okay to ask for help?” she reminded me.Â
I shamefully looked down. “I did,” I answered.Â
“Then you should have told me so we could have at least worked something out about this. Keith is the one who made this request. I could have told him to piss off beforehand.” she told me.Â

I’m sorry,” I sincerely apologized. “I didn’t want to make you feel like I didn’t trust you or anything.Â
Hand in hand we then made our way to the elevator. I would feel so much better after we left the building. Upon arriving however, we found a group of security guards waiting by the elevator.Â
We tried accessing the elevators but they banded together and blocked them so we couldn’t leave.Â
“What are you doing?” I asked them.Â
“Louis, I can’t let you leave” I heard Roberts‘ voice from behind me. Turning around to see him,” I watched as he walked up to me.Â
“You cannot be serious,” I said to him. “You’re going to stay with meÂ
What was I going to do? I thought to myself. If I let Robert get his way Jasmine would have to resign and I would have end things with her. There was no way. She was still in danger. We hadn’t figured out who this mystery person that was after her and KeithÂ
wasÂ
All the HQ employees nearby came to watchÂ
“I will not make an enemy out of Chairman Acland,” Robert said to me. “You will comply.”Â
“Our company doesn’t even have any affiliations with the Acland group so why are you so adamant to do as the Chairman Acland requests?” I asked him incredulously.Â

“It doesn’t mean we won’t in the future and not wanting our company to be affiliated with someone who has concerning rumors circling about them,” He said as he glared atÂ
Jasmine.Â
“This isn’t a game, Louis. If you continue to be difficult you’ll leave me no choice but to punish you for this as well,”Â
Of course you will. I thought to myself.Â
“Louis there is no point in risking so much for me,Â
“What is the meaning of this!?” I then heard a familiar voice and a shiver went down my spine.Â
I turned around and found my father standing in the entrance. The tall bulky man in his late 60s. “Causing such a commotion in front of everyone during work hours!” his rich deep voice reverberated around the open area of the top floor.Â
He fixed a loose strand of greying black hair as he glared at Robert and me. His aura was intimidating. If eyes could kill, his glare would have sent us to heaven already.Â
All the employees who had stopped to watch Robert and me immediately turned away and got back to work.Â
I hadn’t seen or spoken to my father in months, seeing him again under such circumstances was less than favorable.Â
“Father, Louis is refusing to follow an order,” Robert told him.Â
My father then glanced from Robert to me then to Jasmine beside me.Â
“I want all the three of you in my office, now,” my father ordered us. “Lets deal with this privately.”Â
He then turned away from us and made his way to his office.Â
The situation was going from bad to worse with my father getting involved now. I felt Jasmine squeeze my hand and I glanced at her and gave me a nervous look. I couldn’t even pretend to smile at and reassure her. I couldn’t predict what would happen now. “I told you to listen to me, now you’re going to be in even more trouble,” Robert whispered smugly to me as he followed after father.Â
“We’ll get through this,” I told Jasmine. “I’m not going to lie to you I’m nervous but we get through it.”Â

“Louis, this doesn’t look like it’s going to end well,” she whispered to me as we made our way following behind Robert.Â
“I will do my best fto protect us,” I whispered back noting how Jasmine looked ready to throw in the towel already.Â
If I couldn’t protect her then what was I doing? How could I resolve this and against my father no less?Â
Upon entering the grand office of my father. Robert, Jasmine and I stood in a file as we looked at my father who sat behind his desk.Â
“What’s this about?” he asked angrily.Â
Immediately, Robert spoke up. “Father, Louis is refusing a direct order from me. He is in a relationship with Chairman Acland’s wife and has even employed her to be his assistant. The chairman has even expressed concerns. I want to rectify the situation by separating the two,” he explained.Â
I knew my father was going to take Robert’s side as usual. He was going to the side if precious heir.Â
“Why is this a problem? Our company has no affiliation with the Acland group so why is it a problem for me to employ her?” I still defended myself.Â
“Louis,” my father then said my name as he looked at me.Â
I expected him to start berating me now.Â
“Its been a while since I’ve seen you how been have these days?” he surprisingly askedÂ
- me.Â
“Fine, father,” I replied stiffly.Â
“It seems you’ve been up to a lot lately,” he then commented.Â
“What do mean by that?”Â
“You recently fired your assistant following sexual, misconduct allegations correct?” heÂ
asked.Â
I hadn’t spoken with my father about the incident that only with Robert and Vincent.Â
“Yes, father,” I replied.Â
“And you replaced him with Chairman Acland’s estranged wife?” he asked as hisÂ

intimidating gaze shifted to Jasmine, who stood next to me.Â
I got closer to Jasmine to kind of shield her from my father’s intense gaze.Â
“Yes, I did,” I replied.Â
“She has no credentials neither has she any work experience for this role!” Robert complained.Â
“She is fit for the job, however, she has proven herself to be capable of taking it on,” I defended Jasmine.Â
