182 Court HearingÂ
JASMINE’S POVEÂ
Once I was done getting ready, Louis and I left his apartment. With 10 minutes to spare before we had to leave too. Tony had already left for school. This was Tony’s last week of school then he would be on summer holidays. The school closed on Wednesday. After the hearing today and the tone was set for the eventual outcome of the divorce, Tony and I could plan something fun to do. I crossed my fingers hoping it would end in my favor.Â
Upon arriving at the court of family affairs.which was located in the department of justice, in the middle of the city center. We entered the large Gothic building. We went to the courtroom my divorce case had been assigned.Â
We crossed paths with Keith and Diana as we headed toward our assigned courtroom. For a moment we just glared at each other. We looked each other up and down. I noticed Keith’s face was slightly bruised from his fight with Louis.Â
The two then walked away from us.Â
“Well that was awkward,” Louis commented as we watched them walk away.Â
“Tell me about it,” I said.Â
Feeling the nerves get to me my palms and armpits felt sweaty and I feared stains were on my clothes. “I need to go to the bathroom,” I told Louis. There were about twenty minutes left until the hearing started.Â
“You’ll be fine. Try not worry too much. But go ahead. I’ll wait for you inside the courtroom then,” he told me.Â
“Okay,” I replied.Â
I went to the bathroom with the only female bodyguard, who was a part of Louis and I’sÂ
entourage.Â
As I checked suit and my armpits for sweat stains I was relieved to see my fear was all in my head. I was stain–free.Â
The door to the bathroom then suddenly opened. I turned to look and saw it was Diana. Had she come here looking for a fight? I wondered there’s no way she just happened to just want to use the bathroom as well at the same time.Â
“Diana, I’m surprised you came for the hearing,” I started.Â

“Of course, I came to support my fiance,” she said as her arms folded in arrogance.Â
“Good for you,” I responded uninterested.Â
“What are you even going to present?” she asked.Â
“The usual claims. I’m going to try clear my name. I’ll tell the judge you lied and tried to ruin my life,” I told her.Â
A smirk appeared on Diana’s face. “Don’t you get tired of taking losses? You’ve never been able to win this game Jasmine,” she said to me.Â
My own smirk appeared on my face. “No, I’m addicted to losses. I just can’t help it,” I played into her insult.Â
From what Diana was saying, I gathered she didn’t know I knew about her sponsor. I mean she would have brought it up. But I was sure her supporter knew about me. After the whole ordeal in Kensington, Louis and I were sure the persons/person knew we were aware of them. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at Diana. Was she being kept in the dark? Why?Â
“Well then, we’ll see how badly you embarrass yourself as usual,” she said cockily.Â
At first, I thought I should hint at the fact I knew about her sponsor but then thought it be more satisfying to see her expression in court first.Â
“I wouldn’t have to embarrass myself in court if you could tell your man to leave meÂ
alone.Â
Diana’s lips pressed into a thin at that her whole mood shifting. Her eyes glanced at my bodyguard before then rolled her eyes.Â
She left the bathroom. Did I strike a nerve? I wondered.Â
My bodyguard and I then returned to the assigned courtroom. I went inside and sat down next to Louis, who was on the first row of the audience members seats just behind the layer and claiments desk. Once the hearing started I would move to sit with my lawyers who were already seated at the desk.Â
Keith and Diana were seated on the other side of the courtroom on the first row behind Keiths lawyers.Â
“Check, Is it just me or do Keith and Diana seem a bit off to you? Louis asked me as he looked at them. “They are sitting far apart from each other and seem to be frowning,”Â
he further commented.Â
I eyed Keith and Diana carefully and confirmed Louis’s observations. There was a gapÂ

in between them.Â
“Trouble in paradise perhaps,” I whispered back to him. “Lets hope, I ruin their dayÂ
even more.”Â
Louis chuckled at that. “I hope so too.”Â
I recalled Diana’s irritable expression in the bathroom. Is that what this had stemmed from?Â
After about 10 minutes the judge then entered the courtroom. I squeezed Louis’s hand one last time and stood up from the audience seats.Â
“Go get ‘em,” Louis encouraged and slapped my bum softly. Though I was embarrassed, luckily there was no audience behind us to see anything.Â
Keith did the same as well, he left Diana to sit at the front with his lawyers.Â
“All rise for the judge,” the court officer by the judges desk ordered all in the room to stand up. All obeyed. The elderley man whom appeared to be in his late 60s entered the room. The judge overseeing my divorce was called Judge Watkins.Â
The judge signaled for everyone to take their seats as he himself sat down. He was then handed a paper by the security guard. After a moment, the judge then addressed theÂ
room.Â
“Good morning all. We are on the record in the matter of Keith Acland versus Jasmine Acland, maiden name Towers, case number 98673.” Judge Watkins started, reading from the paper. “The matter before the court today regards a divorce and custody between the two parties.Â
We begin by identifying who is present. Counsel, please state your appearances for theÂ
record.”Â
Keith’s lawyers introduced themselves. Then my lawyers introduced themselves.Â
