187 I chose the wrong woman 

Upon arriving at the estate I went to my home office and was given an update on the bank account. My bodyguard/aide, who had collected all the information on everything for me explained. Basically the statements and report the bank sent us confirmed that our accounts had been tampered with. 

Diana had in fact been transferred only a thousand dollars each month to Jasmines account. Then the transaction and deposits were changed. The bank was currently investigating how it was done and which employee at their company did it. 

Upon confirming that Diana had in fact played a part in this. I turned away in my seat. What I had been fearing ever since I was in the judges office had turned out to be true. The only who’s ever been. And that’s when it hit me. The reality I had been running from. Ever since Jasmine had gotten my attention I had been asking myself. Who should I trust between the two? 

I tried to balance keeping my hands dipped in each corner hoping that when I figured it out I could quickly jump to the side I should be on. But ultimately I failed to do they because Jasmine slipped through my fingers 

I–I had made the wrong choice. I should have picked Jasmine. 

I left my 

office and went to find Diana to confront her. She was in our bedroom. 

“Keith,” she said as soon as I entered the room. She had changed out of her out of the clothes she wore at the hearing. 

“Start talking,” I demanded coldly. 

“About what?” she asked as if she didn’t know. 

“Don’t piss me off even more acting, like you don’t know what I’m talking about,” I yelled at her. 

Her lips pressed into a thin line as she looked at me fearfully. 

“Keith, I can explain,” she said to me. 

“Then do it,” I snapped. 

She flinched, at my harsh tone but I didn’t care. 

“How did you change the transactions of the bank account?” I demanded. 

“I didn’t do it,” she told me. 

“What are saying! Then who did?” I demanded 

“Why were you giving Jasmine only a 1000 USD a month? We’re you trying to starve her to death?” I asked her. 

Silence was what I met with, she only stared at me as she contemplated an answer. 

Why did you call Jasmines work place to get her fired? I further interrogated her. 

“Jasmine, had been trying to scare me and threaten me,” she started. 

“I don’t want to hear those kinds of excuses with no proof. From the evidence it looks like you were sabotaging Jasmine unprovoked by giving her a fraction of the money she was supposed to receive. I pointed out to her how what she was saying made no sense. “I won’t blindly believe you or take your words at face value anymore!” 

“But Keith you saw how she acted when we all live together here. She was constantly bullying me,” she tried to defend herself. 

“But how do I even know you didn’t frame her? She has always alleged that you framed her and seeing how you’ve been lying to me how do I know you aren’t lying to me again? How can I trust you Diana,” I told her, my voice rising in anger. 

I studied her face as her hazel eyes stared into mine. She seemed to be trying to keep her composure as she struggled to make eye contact. 

My eyes then glanced at her belly, and what had been bothering me most came to 

mind. 

Suddenly I began to question everything about her. Everything that had happened in the last two years. If she had been framing and lying about Jasmine the whole time then what else was she lying about? 

“-Are you even pregnant?” I asked her, my voice low and threatening. 

Her eyes widened as she looked up at me, a look of horror on her face. “What are you talking about? Of course I am.” she instantly replied. 

But I wasn’t convinced. 

“Diana look me in my eye and tell me that you are pregnant. You showed me that pregnancy test but was it real?” I questioned. Considering how much pressure I had been feeling ever since she revealed her pregnancy I felt something was off the whole 

time. 

“The doctor came Keith you saw him confirm I was pregnant,” she told me.

“I want you tested again and I want to watch you myself,” I told her still not taking her word. “I’ll get you a pregnancy test and watch pee on it. That way i’ll know nothing has been tampered with.” 

Her mouth widedened. 

“B–but w–we…” she stumbled on her words, and her lips quivered. That reaction told me everything I needed to know. 

It felt a like a blow, hard and fast, had punched me in the gut. As the gravity of the situation really set in. Then the rage coursing through my body increased and I felt I would lose control. 

“So again Diana, look me in the eye and tell me that you’re pregnant!” I yelled at her. 

Her lips quivered as an answer failed to come out of her. 

A scoff escaped my mouth. “I thought as much,” I blurted out. “The last few weeks you have been making me feel guilty! Shaming me for lying to you and being distant with you. But were lying to me this whole time!” I lashed out at the sheer audacity she had to make me feel like that. I knew deep down something was wrong this whole time. 

“Look, I know I lied to you but I did it because I love you you have to understand-” she started. 

“–Understand what?!” I interrupted her. “Do you have any idea how ridiculous 

sound?” 

The next question I had for her made me dread as I feared the answer. 

“Is― is Marco my son?” I asked. 

Her mouth widened in shock. “Of course he is,” she immediately replied in desperation. 

My head began shaking in disapproval.

“I don’t know what to believe anymore, Diana. I want him and you tested as soon as possible,” I told her. “I have defended you against Jasmine coutkess times! Protecting you. Trusting the relationship we had and you betrayed my trust!” 

I anticipated that Diana may be lying to me but I never could have imagined it would be this bad. The fact that she would lie to me when I trusted her. I prioritized her and our first relationship. Only to get kicked in the teeth.
