JASMINE’S POVÂ
When Keith returned to the office much later, I informed him of my findings.Â
“We have just started. I have my men spying on the employees. Our best bet is to find inconsistencies that match the paper you presented,” he told me.Â
“Yeah,” you’re right,” I agreed.Â
One thing I was certain of was that it had to be someone with some access to the Acland group finance reports. So it had to be someone on this list.Â
ANTHONY’S POVÂ
Marco and I were watching an F1 race in the sitting room near our bedroom. I couldn’t stop thinking about Uncle’s conversation that I overheard two days ago. Uncle was about to do something big. But what? I wondered.Â
I also hadn’t seen Uncle for the last two days, as well.Â
“Alex is moving so slowly in this race, Marco said.Â
“I watched an F1 game in real life,” I told him.Â
Marco paused and turned to look at me. “Wait, you’ve actually watched a game in person?” He asked me with surprise in his eyes.Â
“You haven’t?” I asked him.Â
He shook his head.Â
“We can watch together one day with my mother,” I assured him.Â
Marco looked at me with an unsure expression, but didn’t say anything.Â
Once the race was over, Marco and I returned to our bedroom to play a board game.Â
The door then suddenly opened. Marco and I turned to see who it was and saw it wasÂ
I saw Marco tense up as his father walked into the room.Â

“Hello you two,” he greeted us with scary looking smile. “comfortable in your room soÂ
far?” He asked us as he came and stood inÂ
Marco and I looked at uncle unsure of what he would do next. I could feel MarcoÂ
trembling.Â
“You know I hate silence when I’ve asked you something,” he said in quiet anger toÂ
Marco.Â
“Yes, dad we’re comfortable,” Marco answered.Â
His brown golden eyes narrowed as he looked at me. “And you Tony?” he asked me.Â
“When are you letting me go?” I asked him instead in a scared voice.Â
Before I could even blink, when I said this uncle’s hand moved quickly and he grabbed my face.Â
His hand squeezed my cheeks, and he squashed them hard.Â
“Ah!” I screamed. My hands went to his hand, and I tried to remove it but it wouldn’t budge.Â
“That wasn’t what I asked you. You don’t answer a question with a question,” he toldÂ
- me.Â
I continued to try to remove his hand but it was no use.Â
“Well, I’m waiting,” he asked me.Â
“…Yes, I’m comfortable here,” I told him in a strained, pained voice, just wanting him to let me go.Â
“Well, too bad. We’re leaving the house tomorrow,” he told us as he finally released myÂ
face.Â
My eyebrows cocked in confusion as my hand rubbed my throbbing cheeks. “Where are we going?” I asked him.Â
“Clearly, you enjoy being in pain,” he said to me. “You’ll find out when we get there.”Â
He then stood up as he looked from Marco to me. “I’ll see you two later,” he told us.Â
Marco and I looked at the door as my uncle closed it after he left.Â

“Where do you think he’s taking us?” I asked him.Â
Later that evening, Marco and I had dinner and then, as usual, prepared for bed afterwards. First, Marco used the bathroom, and then I used it afterwards. As I left the bathroom, I then heard a voice speakingÂ
“I want their room cleaned out properly, can’t leave any trace of them having been here, I heard Uncle’s familiar voice say from nearby. I looked in the direction of the voice.Â
When I got into the room I began to think after overhearing what uncle was saying. He wanted to leave no clues of Marco and me being here. I looked around the room, seeing what I could use.Â
I found some paper and took some of Marco’s colouring crayons. I sat down on the carpet and started drawing.Â
Marco came to stand in front of me as he looked down at what I was drawing.Â
“What are you doing? He asked me.Â
“Just drawing a picture,” I told him.Â
I first drew simple pictures of Marco and I. Then I wrote our names. Then I drew another picture of my uncle and then wrote ‘uncle‘ underneath.Â
If my mum came here to find me and she didn’t find see me, maybe she would think uncle didn’t take us or something. I didn’t understand what Uncle was trying to do. I wanted to leave a sign that we were here, and she should look for us.Â
Our room and the bathroom was the only time we weren’t being watched so this was the best time for usÂ
My art was really bad but hopefully putting the names down helped. My mum knew how I drew because of the pictures I drew at school. I think she will recognise it if she finds it.Â
I looked around the room looking for a place to hide the paper. They were going to clean the room like uncle said.Â
“What are you doing now?” He asked me.Â

“I’m hiding it,” I told him. Help me find a place to put it. I moved around the room.Â
“Tony, you have to give up. Your mum is not going to come here or make it here.” he told me. “I told you to just listen to my dad”Â
“I know you don’t believe it, but I believe in my mum. She will find us, I told him.Â
“Put it on the bookshelf,” he told me. “That was in here before we started using the room. The beds were brought in here, but those books have always been here and never touched. I don’t think the cleaners will touch it.”Â
I went to the bookshelf and then placed the paper between two of the random books on the shelf. “Like this?” I asked him.Â
He nodded slowly.Â
The next day, a maid came into the room and had us get ready for the day. She was a different maid from the one who had been coming to us every day. She told us that once we had breakfast, we would leave. We had breakfast and then washed up in the bathroom.Â
