DIANA’S POV

My father had picked me up from high school that afternoon. He didn’t so much as greet me when I got in the car with him. He had a stern expression on his face. A confused expression was on my face as I wondered why. I could tell something was wrong. I’d never seen him like this before he was always kind and bubbly. Not whatever

this was.

Dad, is everything alright?I asked him,.

He didn’t answer me. Just kept driving. The ride was painfully awkward and I was growing worried. The only thing that kept the car from being completely dead silent was the rusty sound the car engine made as it worked. Our car was too old you see. As he continued to drive it was then that noticed we weren’t headed in the direction of

our home.

I knew something was very wrong.

Dad, where are we going?I asked him.

He didn’t answer me again and just kept driving. We then arrived at a hotel called the Grande Palace hotel, a fancy five star hotel that my family definitely couldn’t afford. What were we doing here? He got out of the car and I followed suit.

Get your bag,he ordered me. That was the first time he’d said anything to me since he’d picked me up.

I did as he said and followed after him as he entered the hotel. At the hotels reception my father asked the receptionist for my mother surprisingly.

My name is Daniel Rockford I’m looking for my wife Emily Rockford who’s currently here,he said to her and showed her his ID.

The receptionist checked her computer. Yes, she is currently checked in room 132.”

Thank you,” he said and walked away from the desk. I followed him to the elevator. How was mum able to book a room at the hotel? My father was a simple car mechanic and my mother worked as a maid. I had so many questions.

Upon arriving on the floor we went to the room and began to hear some suspicious noises. A woman’s voice screaming and moaning. What’s more the voice sounded

familiar. My dad opened the door and went inside.

What the hell?I heard a male voice ask in confusion.

Oh god Daniel!I heard my mother scream.

I slowly followed after my father. What I was met with shocked me. I found my mother and a man rushing to put on their clothes as my father looked at them in horror.

Everything that happened afterward was a bit of a blur to me considering I hadn’t expected to find my mother in that state.

You cheating bitch you say you were working all day everyday, bullshit! My father angrily screamed at her. I had never seen him like this he was so furious.

Well then, take your daughter! I’m leaving, for good,he then said to my mother.

My father then turned away and stormed out of the room.

My mother watched him leave unfazed by the situation. She then scoffed. I wonder how he found out.”

She then turned her attention to me. Looks like it’s just you and me now Diana.”

Embarrassed by the whole situation I turned away from her and ran.

Diana! She screamed out to me. I continued running though. Diana!”

I ran out of the room and down the hallway following after my father. I didn’t want him to leave me. I spent the most time with my father since my mother said she was busy working. I reached the elevator but he had already gotten in and was going down. I rushed to the next elevator next to the one my father had taken. I managed to catch him in the hotel lobby as he made to leave the building.

Dad please don’t go,” I begged him. He stopped walking and turned to face me.

No,” he answered. I can barely afford to take care of you. Since your mothers so hardworkingshe should be able to take care of you better.”

He sounde so cold and angry in his rejection.

I sat down on the floor and began to cry right there in the middle of hotel lobby. Everyone in the lobby could see me but I didn’t care. I was just sad,

Hey, are you alright?Someone asked me.

I looked up and found a handsome young boy who seemed to be around my age.

He handed me a tissue and thanked him as I took it from him.

What’s your name?he asked me.

Diana,I said as I sniffled and wiped away my tears.

Well Diana, I don’t know what’s going on and I’m sorry for whatever you’re going through but you’re too pretty to be crying,he said to me.

As my eyes met his icy mesmerising blue eyes, I blushed.

What’s your name?I asked him.

My name is Keith, Keith Acland,he introduced himself to me.

Ma’am,a loud female voice brought me out of my thoughts.

I had been reminiscing that time all so long ago when I first met Keith. I looked at the person who had called for me. I saw it was my head maid.

What is it!?I snapped at her.

Ma’am I brought them,she said.

I looked down and saw the refills I had ordered in her hands.

Quickly hide them in Marco’s room before the chairman gets back,I ordered her.

Yes,my maid accepted

Make sure no one sees you,I warned. She nodded and left me.

My head maid was the only other person in this house aside from me and Marco who knew the truth. The only reason I trusted her was because I was threatening her. One wrong move and her family would pay the price.

I would keep them myself but Keith might find them since we shared a room. Only my head maid and I frequented Marco’s room so it was the safest. As I watched my head maid maid leave, I rolled my eyes as I recalled what had made me think of my past all of a sudden.
