Her eyes met mine and that unsettling smile of hers returned. “I’ll make sure Keith knows I was only trying to talk to you and help you when you viciously attacked me. Whatever interest he has in you should dissipate. It also won’t be long before word begins to spread in the socialite world about the violent and unhinged Jasmine who continues to fall from grace since her husband kicked her out of the house.” She explained with excitement. “Everything will be as it was again.”Â
She then picked up the wine glass from the table and took a sip, she then got closer to me and lowered herself till we were eye level.Â
“You’re not coming back in the mansion, Jasmine. Keith is mine so don’t ever try whatever games you’re playing with me again,” she whispered to me.Â
I didn’t want to go back to the mansion and Keith could stay hers. I wasn’t trying anything but she wouldn’t believe me.Â
She then poured the rest of the wine in the glass all over me. I closed my eyes as I could only allow her to do as she pleased. The alcohol burning my throbbing cheeks from the slaps she’d given me earlier.Â
“Well it’s been fun Jasmine,” she said and began to walk away. The bodyguards then released me and all three followed after her. As I watched them leave I remained frozen in my seat. After a while I heard the front door close. I then let out a breath I hadn’t realised I had been holding in.Â
After a few minutes had passed I ran to the front door and through the peephole checked outside. Diana and her bodyguards were indeed gone. I then locked the door not that it would help if Diana returned. (1Â
I then looked at my hand that was on the door and saw it was shaking. I was scared.Â
That night I didn’t sleep at all. I couldn’t knowing that Diana could do whatever she wanted to me. I was terrified for my son and I. We weren’t safe in this house. I spent the whole time thinking of what I could do.Â
Moving out of this house as soon as possible was a top priority since Diana could just barge in whenever she felt like it. However, even if I moved away she would still be able to find me and do whatever she wanted to me. It’s not just I wasn’t safe in this house, I wasn’t safe anywhere. I would never be free from her. I was fucked.Â

The following morning barely having slept at all I got ready for work and had Tony prepped for school. If I could wanted nothing more than take Tony and I to another country. Some place far away from Diana.Â
Before Tony and I left the house I first checked the front porch. There was no one and nothing there. I let out a sigh of relief.Â
I was nervous about Keith who was obviously going to call me in due to Diana framing me. I was also worried about Diana’s open threat. I wasn’t sure what aspect of my life she was going to target but I knew it was going to be tough.Â
When Tony and I left our home I kept looking over my shoulder. I felt like I was being watched. As if Diana could spring up from any corner or Keith’s men would come for me. I hated feeling helpless. I hated feeling powerless.Â
Luckily I managed to drop off Tony with no issue and I myself went to work.Â

“Jasmine are you with us?” The manager asked me.Â
I was brought out of my thoughts and realised I hadn’t been listening to the manager. “Sorry manager I didn’t get what you said.”Â
“I said could you get some serviettes and candles from the basement?” he repeated.Â
I accepted his order and then headed to the basement to get them. I kept thinking about my interaction with Diana yesterday. It was making me lose focus whilst working unfortunately.Â
“Jasmine,” I heard my name being called by a familiar voice. I looked and found Mike standing behind me. I then remembered today was Wednesday the day he said he’d be back on shift. When did he get down here? I wondered.Â
“Mike,” I said.Â
“Thank you so much again for everything. I wanted to tell you in person. My father is making a steady recovery. The doctors says within a couple of weeks he should be able to leave,” he told me. “I also managed to pay back the debts.”Â
“It’s no problem at all, I’m glad I could help,” I told him honestly as I smiled. “I’m so happy your father is alright.”Â
“Also I would like to invite you some time to meet my father. He says he would like to see the person who saved his life. Also Victoria would to see you again.”Â

My smile widened. “Saying I’m the one who saved his life sounds a bit dramatic but, of course, I would be happy to meet him,” I accepted the invitation.Â
“Great I’ll let you know when soon.” He informed me. “Also are you alright?” Mike asked me concerned as he studied my face. “You seem a little out of it today,” He asked me. I suppose my anxiety and tiredness was all over the place.Â
“Yeah I’m fine, just a little tired,” I told him.Â
I then turned to pick up the serviettes and candles. Mike surprised when he came in front of me and picked up the two baskets by himself.Â
—Â
“Wait Mike you don’t ” I started.Â
“It’s fine, besides you seem like you’ll collapse if you carry them,” he cut me off. Then he began to walk off.Â
I squinted my eyes at him as I followed after him. We then made our way out of theÂ
basement.Â
“Also thank you for keeping my situation a secret,” he said to me as we walked up theÂ
stairs.Â
“Well of course it’s not my story to tell,” I told him.Â
