JASMINE’S POV 1Â
I left Louis‘ office feeling lightheaded and blushing wildly from embarrassment. What was wrong with me? I asked myself.Â
Why was I checking out his body like some pervert? I recalled glancing at theÂ
muscular body underneath his shirt as well as the way it felt when it was pressed into mine against the bookshelf.Â
Louis was my dear childhood friend who was helping me. The last thing I wanted was to make this weird for him. Also, I was six years older than him. He probably saw me as an older sister the same way I should see him as a younger brother. I was also single mother why would he want someone with ‘baggage‘?Â
From my bridal training I was told it was important for me to be a virgin and child–free because men considered a single mother to be someone with baggage. Personally, I had no problem being a single mother, Tony is the best thing that ever happened to me. I wouldn’t change a thing. If that meant I was going to have a hard time finding a partner, so be it.Â
Not to mention I saw Louis was going to get married to a beautiful woman around his age and child–free.Â
I felt myself calm down as I internalized the obvious reality of the situation.Â
Just act as you always did with Keith; respectful and knowing my place.Â
Back in my room, I put down the files down on my bed and began to go through them. I had taken more than I needed to because of the additional folders I had dropped whilst picking the files up. As Louis had said I might have a hard time understanding the technical language being used in the documents. The internet was free, however, so I was willing to do the research I needed to.Â
I received a response from RebeccaÂ
‘Hi Jasmine, what do you want to ask about the Garden House?‘Â
‘I want to ask if Andrew Gatwick had done anything inappropriate to you during your time working at the restaurant.Â
‘I don’t want to talk about it. In fact I have nothing to say.Â

That made no sense. So it was just as Megan and Mike had said, Andrew Gatwick had done something to her. She was afraid I thought to myself. I would have to have to getÂ
her to trust me.Â
‘I understand if you are afraid. Perhaps you’re worried about threats that were made to you. I want to assure you that I am a representative of the CEO investigating Mr Gatwick.” I lied to her. Technically it wasn’t actually a lie. I was with literally with theÂ
CEO.Â
“The CEO?”Â
“Yes, he is conducting an investigation on Mr Gatwick unbeknownst to him. I promise you won’t get in trouble I just want to ask you some questions over some concerning things he’s heard he has done,” I told her.Â
I said I was going to use the advantage I had of being in contact with Louis.Â
For a while I didn’t receive a text back from Rebecca. I thought to myself she probablyÂ
doesn’t want to chat to me.Â
I was about to return to reading through the files when my phone notification suddenly chimed.Â
‘Okay, I’m free tomorrow morning. Perhaps we can meet at a cafe to chat?‘ She texted.Â
Perfect I replied. ‘How about the Brigstone Cafe?‘ I suggested.Â
‘Alright.‘ she replied.Â
We then agreed on a time and our meetupfor tomorrow morning was set. I smiled happy that my plan was coming together. I would have to inform the manager that I was going to be a little late for work.Â
That night I stayed up as I went through the files I had gotten from Louis. After speaking with Rebecca I was inspired to go through the employee records about her.Â
found it and read through it. It just contained general information about her employment and it said she just resigned. Obviously I couldn’t expect the real reason for her unemployment to be written on official documents.Â
I put her profile aside as I planned to write a report on it to show Louis when I presented everything to him.Â
Afterwards, I then also thought to go through the employe records and to find all theÂ

other young female employees across all the restaurants as they might also be his past or future victims.Â
I took note of all of them to write reports on them as well.Â
When I was done with that I then began going through the rest of the documents in general. For anything I didn’t understand I would look it up online or watch tutorials to understand how it worked. Like the accounting and finance sections of the reports. I had to search up what certain words meant and also watched tutorials on how accounting worked.Â
Though it was difficult I was determined to understand it. I wanted to stop Gatwick and make sure he he got what he deserved.Â
*******Â
The following morning I helped Anthony get ready for school together with Louis‘ maids. I then kissed him goodbye before he was escorted out of the apartment by the bodyguard Louis had assigned him. After getting ready myself I again met with Louis in the foyer of his apartment.Â
Once again he was dressed in a fine suit he looked divine in. Keeping, the promise to myself I didn’t ogle my eyes at him.Â
“You look a little tired,” he commented. “I hope you didn’t stay up all night going through those folders.”Â
“What? no,” I lied as I tried to open my eyes wider at him to seem awake. I didn’t think he’d notice. “I slept quite well.”Â
He gave me the look as if saying why would you lie about that?Â
“You’re extremely well–dressed today. What’s the occasion?” he asked.Â
I wore simple formal attire when I went to work since I worked at a restaurant but since I was deviating to meet with Rebecca first before I went to work I dressed really well. I had lied to Rebecca that I worked closely with the CEO hence why I had to dress the part.Â
