This place was pretty remote, with hardly anyone living here, so there weren’t many zombies wandering around.Â
With the strength the team had now, taking care of these zombies was child’s play.Â
Chloe wasn’t the type to take the spotlight, so she made Frank the vice–captain. As long as she didn’t step in, he was the one calling the shots on everything, big or small.Â
With a wife and kid to look after, Frank worried the team would resent him for having a he always took the lead, never hesitating to jump into action first.Â
care for, soÂ
Of course, no one said anything, but Frank still believed that keeping a clear head at all times was the key to the team’s success.Â
Others might keep quiet, but he knew he had to step up and take action.Â
This time, Frank took the lead again. As they passed through the fenced yard, he kicked open the heavy iron gate.Â
Inside, Ramon had just gotten his pants halfway down when the sudden commotion almost scared him out of his wits.Â
Thinking zombies were breaking in, he sent Mandy flying with a kick, snatched up his weapon, and got ready to defend himself.Â
But instead, he saw a guy with a mean look on his face storm in, followed by a few girls who looked way too clean for the apocalypse.Â
Ramon narrowed his eyes, eyeing them warily. “Who are you? Why are you barging into my place?”Â
Frank smirked and marched straight up, startling Ramon.Â
“Whose place do you think this is?” Frank demanded.Â
Chloe was the last to step into the warehouse, her eyes like daggers as she stared at Ramon.Â
When she spoke, Ramon looked up and came face–to–face with Chloe’s drop–dead gorgeous looks.Â
HisÂ
eyesÂ
flickered, and he peeked out to see there were only four of them and three were girls.Â
Seeing that, he finally let his guard down a bit.Â
Back when he was making deliveries, Ramon always thought Chloe was absolutely stunning. He used to fantasize that if he could ever have her in this lifetime, he’d die a happy man.Â
But back then, life was peaceful. He might’ve had those thoughts, but he never had the guts to act on them.Â
But now, things were different.Â

Ramon gave a greasy grin, showing off his rows of yellow teeth.Â
“Well, well, if it isn’t the pretty boss herself. What wind blew you in here?” he teased.Â
He quickly flashed his signature grin and dragged over the cleanest chair from by the window.Â

At the same time, he turned to his crew and said, “This is the owner of the warehouse. Who would’ve thought we’d bump into each other after the apocalypse? Guess fate’s got a sense of humor.”Â
The men, all pushing forty or fifty, nodded and put on their best smiles, bowing and scrÂ
“Hello, boss,” they greeted her.Â
But there was a strange glint in their eyes, something calculating, almost greedy.Â
Chloe ignored the creepy stares from those guys and focused on the supplies in her warehouse.Â
She couldn’t help blurting out, “Holy crap, are you all pigs? How did you eat this much?”Â
Supplies that should’ve filled half the warehouse were now down to just a third. In barely over a month, they’d managed to devour so much.Â
She pinched her nose. The place just stank to high heaven.Â
‘Shit!‘ Chloe thought to herself.Â
Ramon didn’t get mad at Chloe’s cursing. Instead, he just gave his crew a sly look.Â
One of the men caught the hint, slipped behind the group, and slammed the warehouse door shut, locking it tight with a heavy padlock.Â
With the door locked, the five men dropped all their fake friendliness and started cackling nastily, showing their sleazy true selves.Â
Ramon sneered, “Well, you walked right in here yourself. So don’t blame us for what happens next. Boys, looks like we’re getting some fun tonight.”Â
The men behind him all shared a knowing, sleazy grin.Â
Chloe let out a cold chuckle. “Perfect. I was hoping for some fun tonight myself.”Â
Before anyone could react, Frank swung his machete. It wasn’t a fancy move, just pure brute force, but it was enough to take Ramon’s head off in one clean blow.Â
Blood splattered everywhere, and Ramon’s head rolled to a stop at Mandy’s feet, making her let out a terrifiedÂ
scream.Â
The sharp, sour smell of urine filled the air.Â
Chloe turned around, a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips. “Mandy, long time no see.”Â

‘Why does she always pop up wherever I go? There’s just no escaping her,’ Chloe thought.Â
Mandy forced a smile that looked worse than crying.Â
“Ch–Chloe, long time no see… ah!” Mandy stammered, her voice breaking into a startled cry.Â

Another scream tore through the room as Mandy watched Frank descend like a god of slaughter, decapitating all five men in a matter of seconds.Â
His movements were fluid and merciless. Less than ten seconds, and it was done.Â
Frank sneered, “Pathetic. Not a single one of you has any powers.”Â
Frank spun around, his face twisted into a savage scowl, making Mandy and the other girl shriek in terror.Â
He held the machete to the girl’s slender neck, grinning viciously as his voice thundered through the room.Â
“Shut up,” Frank barked. “Cry one more time, and I’ll tear your tongue out.”Â
The two girls covered their mouths in a panic, nodding like crazy, tears streaming down their cheeks.Â
Chloe glanced over, unable to hold back a quiet chuckle.Â
‘Huh, talk about fate. Of all places, I end up running into Shawn’s sister here, Chloe thought. ‘She’s a realÂ
snake.‘Â
In her previous life, Daisy had schemed against her more times than she could count.Â
She’d brazenly stolen Chloe’s supplies and spun all kinds of lies to Shawn, stirring up drama and trouble.Â
If Shawn was the executioner in her previous life, then Daisy was the ruthless one who handed him the axeÂ
and cheered him on.Â
Daisy snuck a glance up and saw Chloe watching her with a curious, almost amused look. Tears streaming down her face, she desperately crawled over to Chloe.Â
“Chloe, I finally found you. Don’t you remember me? I’m your man’s sister,” Daisy whimpered, her voice shaking with emotion.Â
Frank just stared at her, lost for words.Â
Mindy was so shocked she couldn’t even blink.Â
Emily’s jaw dropped, totally speechless.Â
They all gave Daisy a look like she’d just dropped a bomb. Everyone was so shocked, they had no idea how toÂ
react.Â
‘Damn, when did Chloe get hitched? And how come I’ve never even seen her man?‘ Frank thought, totally baffled. ‘Oh my god, this is the juiciest scoop ever. Absolute bombshell.Â

Chloe couldn’t help but facepalm. ‘Seriously, my teammates are such gossips,‘ she thought.Â
At Chloe’s feet, Daisy was having a full–on meltdown, snot and tears everywhere.Â

“Chloe, life’s been hell for me lately. Barely had anything to eat, freezing all the time, and those bastards… they… they did awful things to me…” Daisy choked out between sobs.Â
She covered her face with her hands, completely losing it as she cried.Â
Mandy wasn’t about to let herself look weak. Even though she was sore all over, she cl crying and wailing for all she was worth.Â
e’s leg,Â
“Chloe… I’m just so glad you’re okay! Do you have any idea how worried sick I’ve been about you?” Mandy wailed.Â
Chloe had had enough of all that over–the–top fake concern. She just brushed them off like it was nothing, pushing them aside with barely any effort.Â
Both of them were freezing and starving, and in just a month, they’d gotten so skinny they barely had any strength left.Â
With just a light push from Chloe, they stumbled back and nearly toppled over.Â
For a split second, jealousy and resentment flickered in their eyes, but they hid it right away.Â
“Chloe, why are you doing this? I’ve been searching everywhere for you. Don’t ditch me, alright?” Daisy whimpered, her voice cracking with desperation.Â
As she said it, she shot a quick glance at Frank.Â
She knew that the savage–looking guy was the real muscle in the group. If she wanted a shot at him, she had to latch onto Chloe and stick close.Â
‘Once I’m in the team, getting close to him will be a piece of cake,‘ Daisy schemed to herself.Â
Daisy was a schemer through and through. She knew she didn’t stand a chance against Chloe in the looks department.Â
‘Fine, if I can’t be the star, I’ll just get myself into their team first. The rest can wait. One step at a time,‘ Daisy schemed to herself.Â
