Chapter 151 

“C–Chloe…” Emily stammered, her voice trembling with agitation. 

“What’s up?” Chloe asked, following the direction Emily was pointing. 

She wasn’t spirit–powered, so from afar, all she could make out was a tiny black dot lying motionless. 

She remembered the scout mentioning it was a little boy. Seeing Emily so anxious only made Chloe’s unease 

grow. 

“That boy looks just like Chiara,” Emily said. 

Before she could finish, Chloe disappeared in a flash, reappearing 300 feet away. 

William barely had time to react before Chloe was already gone. 

He glanced at Chloe, then at the empty spot next to him where she’d just been. 

He was so stunned, his jaw dropped in disbelief. 

‘Holy crap, just how powerful this girl is? How could she disappear right under my nose?‘ he wondered. 

He was one of the few top–tier third–level powered humans at the base. 

He was sure no one had ever managed to vanish so quietly and suddenly in front of him before. 

‘This is insane!‘ he thought. 

William glanced at Peyton, who just shrugged, as if to say, “See? I told you she was something else.” 

Then he looked at Emily, giving her a questioning look. 

Emily said straight up, “That boy might be her brother.” 

Everyone sucked in a sharp breath. Even the usually poker–faced William jumped out of the vehicle. 

He barked at the team behind him, “Keep your eyes peeled and be ready to lay down fire at any second.” 

If this was a trap, they’d be ready to snatch the kid and make a run for it. 

Chloe approached the boy lying in the snow, her breath coming out in soft puffs. 

She desperately hoped it was Filip, but at the same time, she was scared to death that it really was him. 

She gently lifted him into her arms. His face was pale and trembling from the cold, and maybe from hunger, he still had a mouthful of snow. 

A tear slid down Chloe’s cheek. “Filip, I’m here,” she called softly.

Chapter 151 

She fumbled, pressing her fingers to his nose, he wasn’t breathing. His wrist was completely still, no pulse at 

all. 

Chloe’s eyes were rimmed red as she remembered how he had insisted he was a man and that he’d protect his sisters in her previous life. 

In the end, he died saving her, his body never even found. 

‘No, he can’t be dead, Chloe thought, her heart pounding. 

Her hands trembling, Chloe checked his carotid artery again, and her eyes suddenly lit up with hope. 

“There’s still a chance!‘ she thought, her heart racing. 

She channeled a surge of healing energy into her fingertips, sending it steadily into his carotid artery. 

As long as there was the slightest sign of a pulse, she focused her healing energy there, and with each beat, his life force grew stronger, slowly reviving his whole body. 

Everyone from the Blaze Squad came running over. The moment they saw what Chloe was doing, they knew this was Filip, whom she’d been searching for all along. 

William was about to have everyone move Filip to the armored vehicle to deal with things there, but Mindy stopped him. 

“Colonel York, Chloe needs to do this in one go, without interruption. If his vital signs aren’t back yet and she’s interrupted, he could be in real danger,” Mindy said urgently. 

She wouldn’t have cared as much if it were someone else, but this was Chloe’s brother. If something went wrong, nobody could take that kind of responsibility. 

Renee jogged over, pulled a blanket from her spiritual space, and gently draped it over Filip. Then she handed out some muffins to the soldiers. 

“You guys have been working hard. Have something to eat,” she said with a warm smile. 

The soldiers didn’t complain, but Renee’s gesture really made their day. 

For a moment, they kind of got why so many powered humans were willing to be Richard’s lackeys. Compared to them, the soldiers were living pretty lean. 

Still, the soldiers just sighed and stuck to their posts. Hardly any of them would actually defect. 

As time passed, Molly’s brow was tightly knit as she scanned the area, but nothing seemed off. 

She slowly walked over to Emily and gave her sleeve a little tug. 

“Emily, can you use your spirit power to check the area? I’ve got a bad feeling about this,” Molly said, her voice 

low and anxious. 

Then she turned to William. “Colonel York, can you have all the soldiers ready to jump into action if anything

goes down?” 

William knew better than to underestimate Molly. He nodded seriously and had the team move forward. forming a protective circle around Chloe and Filip. 

Chloe was a big deal to them, someone they absolutely had to win over. 

She didn’t just have healing ability, but she was also space–powered, and the kicker was, her squad even had a fourth–level powered human on board! 

Just as William finished setting up the defensive formation, a bunch of loud shouts echoed from behind them. 

“The Awakened Group is here,” Emily announced. 

William blinked in surprise. “Wait, didn’t they head out before us? How’d they end up trailing behind?” 

Emily clapped Molly proudly on the shoulder and said, “Well, that’s because we’ve got Molly. We might’ve taken the long way around, but she always picks the safest path.” 

Meanwhile, Elise was running forward, shielded by Felix and the others. From a distance, she spotted the soldiers‘ camp and burst into tears of relief. 

“Hurry, catch up to them!” she shouted. 

A wicked grin flashed across her mind. ‘With all these soldiers as cannon fodder, the zombies should go after them instead of us, right? 

‘If only those zombies would chow down on every last one of these useless grunts. Why should our Awakened Group take all the hits while these nobodies walk away without a scratch?‘ 

But to her shock, when she was about 300 feet from the soldiers, the zombies stopped chasing. 

The zombies stood there, baring their teeth and letting out a wild howl, then scattered like a gust of wind. 

Elise clutched her pounding chest, collapsing to the ground and gasping for air. 

“What the hell is going on?” she panted. 

Felix looked just as confused, glancing around. Sure enough, not a single living thing was in sight. 

Now that they were finally out of danger, they’d think they’d be able to breathe easy. But instead, an eerie chill ran down everyone’s spine, and the feeling just wouldn’t let up. 

“I think we’ve stumbled into some kind of monster’s turf,” Felix said, his voice tight with anxiety. 

“What?” Elise froze, so pissed she could barely think straight, glaring daggers at the soldiers up 

ahead. 

“It’s all because of those useless grunts. They nearly got us killed,” she hissed. 

Just then, a soldier walked over. Hearing her trash talk, his face went dark.

“Useless? If you’re so amazing, why’s your 600–strong squad down to just a handful?” he shot back. 

“You!” Elise was stunned into silence. She never expected one of those usually spineless soldiers to actually talk back. 

She jumped up from the ground, snapping, “Why are you acting all tough? Just wait, you’ll be bawling your eyes out soon. Felix, let’s go.” 

Just as Elise was about to step away, her face suddenly went pale. She was rooted to the spot, as if paralyzed by some unseen force, 

“Felix, I think something’s targeting me!” Elise stammered, terror in her eyes and goosebumps rising all over 

her. 

Felix realized it too. It felt like something was forcing them forward, blocking any chance of retreat. 

‘What now? Do I have to just grit my teeth and push ahead?‘ Elise thought, her heart racing. 

Suddenly, Elise’s eyes darted to the soldier. “Why can you walk around as you please?” she asked. 

The soldier looked totally baffled. “What do you mean?” 

Elise exploded, her voice full of rage, “Bastard, stop playing dumb! Why can you guys move around like nothing’s wrong, while we’re totally stuck?”
