Chapter 166Â
“Chloe, is the Zombie King really that terrifying?” Evan’s voice wavered, and he couldn’t help but shrink back a line.Â
He was the weakest in the team, having just advanced to the second level. Even just running into it, he’d probably get one- shotted, let alone fight the Zombie King.Â
Renee couldn’t stand his cowardly attitude and smacked him on the head.Â
“Look at you, acting all pathetic,” she snapped.Â
“Babe, it’s not that I’m scared of dying. I’m just scared of dying for nothing. What would you and Clara do if I were gone?” Evan muttered, worry clear in his eyes.Â
Chloe glanced at him. “You’ll be with the army, but Renee will head out with me.”Â
Her spiritual space power was special. She could suppress the powers of any mutant creatures nearby.Â
“Deal,” Renee replied.Â
Chloe glanced up at the sky. It had already started to get dark, and in just a few minutes, it was almost pitch black.Â
“Let’s find somewhere nearby to stay for now. Major York, we’ll need you to take charge of the attack,” she said.Â
They were up against the Zombie King. If they rushed in without a plan, they’d all be wiped out.Â
Of course, Chloe had her own ways to escape, but she would never abandon her teammates unless it was absolutelyÂ
necessary.Â
“Alright, there’s a hotel back on the road we came in on. Why don’t we head there first?” William began.Â
Chloe interrupted him with a bitter smile, shaking her head.Â
“Do you honestly think we can still get out of here?” she said.Â
Everyone’s hearts skipped a beat.Â
“What do you mean?” William asked.Â
“We’re already deep in the Zombie King’s territory. With this many people, it has already locked onto us. If we try to turn back now, we’ll get obliterated in a heartbeat,” Chloe said.Â
As soon as those words left her mouth, everyone started glancing around in panic, like some ancient monster was out there in the dark, sizing them up for its next meal.Â
“W–What are we supposed to do now?” one of the team members blurted out.Â
Everyone could feel their hearts pounding in their chests, that fear of the unknown gripping them tight.Â
Emily pointed shakily in one direction. “Chloe, do you think that place will work?”Â
There was another hotel over there, about the same distance from the Medical Tower as this side.Â
“Yes,” Chloe said with a gentle smile.Â
Everyone trudged toward the hotel, their steps heavy with dread.Â
They busted open the hotel doors, and Chloe threw up an ice wall right away to block off the entrance.Â

Chapter 166Â
Emily checked the place with her spirit power as soon as they got in, her brow furrowing with worry.Â
“Chloe, there’s not a single zombie inside,” she said, sounding uneasy.Â
“Got it,” Chloe replied.Â
Everyone spent the whole night sleeping in their clothes. Nobody could really fall asleep, too scared to let their guard downÂ
Especially Chloe and William, who kept scheming together until late into the night.Â
Finally, morning came. One of the soldiers called out excitedly. “Major York, we’ve got a message from the Medical TowerÂ
Chloe and William shot to their feet.Â
“What did they say?” Chloe asked.Â
“It’s the Blue–Eyed Zombie King!” the soldier blurted out.Â
Everyone gasped, a chill running down their spines.Â
“So it really is the Zombie King!” someone exclaimed.Â
Even though Chloe had already guessed who it was, hearing it confirmed still made her knees go weak with shock.Â
Back in her previous life, this was the Frost Zombie King, the third most powerful Zombie King of them all.Â
She quickly ran through everything she remembered about the Frost Zombie King, piecing together what they were up against.Â
“The Frost Zombie King with blue eyes is an ice–powered mutant zombie. It is at least fifth–level now, and his freezing abilities are insane. It can turn anything into an ice statue in an instant,” Chloe said.Â
She paused, taking a deep breath to steady herself.Â
“He’s called the Frost Zombie King because he only shows up in places so cold they could freeze your soul. Within a hundred feet of him, the temperature drops to at least minus 200 °F Celsius,” she added.Â
That was the real nightmare.Â
Unless one had ice powers like Chloe or fire powers strong enough to fight back, no other powered human could even get close.Â
William looked totally defeated, his face drained of all hope.Â
“So even if he doesn’t attack us, just getting close could mean freezing to death?” he asked, his voice trembling.Â
Chloe nodded slowly, looking troubled.Â
Even though fear gripped her, a rush of fighting spirit and a crazy thrill shot through her veins.Â
She had ice power, so this was her shot, and her biggest test yet.Â
But with a whole level between them, she didn’t stand a chance; it was basically a suicide mission.Â
Just then, the Spiritual Space System, which had been silent for ages, suddenly chimed in with its mechanical voice.Â
“Ding! Detected the base’s Zombie King, fifth–level, early stage. Danger! Danger!Â
“Host, please escape immediately, or advance your level as soon as possible and slay the Zombie King.”Â

Chloe couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Like I couldn’t figure that out myself, she thought.Â
There was no way they could escape now. They were already in the Zombie King’s sights. And leveling up was difficultÂ
Her eyes snapped open. ‘Wait a second. I still have three Frostheast zombie cores stashed in my spiritual space! Chloe realized.Â
“Hey, I need to run something by you all,” Chloe said.Â
69Â
“I’ve got three ice–powered zombie cores from Frostbeasts in my spiritual space. I want to use them to advance my power; it’s our only shot at surviving this,” she explained.Â
She felt a bit embarrassed, like she was just being greedy for those ice–powered cores.Â
Okay, maybe she kind of was.Â
William was honestly caught off guard. In his mind, those cores already belonged to the Blaze Squad, so he didn’t think Chloe would even check with him about it.Â
Of course, he nodded right away.Â
As expected, none of the Blaze Squad members had any objections.Â
They’d all tried their best, but in the end, they hadn’t really been much help.Â
And Chloe had always looked out for them. If she used those cores, she’d definitely make sure they got something extra inÂ
return.Â
Chloe solemnly took out all three ice–powered cores. Each one was incredibly valuable to her.Â
After a quick consideration, she didn’t hesitate to pick up the late–stage fourth–level core and began absorbing its power.Â
Meanwhile, she split up all the third–level zombie cores she’d been saving in her spiritual space and passed them out to herÂ
teammates.Â
Chloe had Evan, the team’s muscle, do the heavy lifting. He grabbed his iron dagger and skinned the Frostbeasts along their wounds, peeling off the hides.Â
Chloe tossed the rest of the Frostbeast remains to Spotty.Â
Spotty’s eyes practically popped out of its head.Â
Spotty started swelling up, then let out a happy howl and bit off half a Frostbeast, munching away like it was the best mealÂ
ever.Â
Thud! Thud! Thud!Â
As Evan skinned and gutted the Frostbeast, the ground started to tremble, like a giantÂ
was on theÂ
move.Â
Every time it moved, the ground rumbled and the whole building shook.Â
Molly’s face went very pale, and she curled up under the blanket, shaking all over.Â
Molly whimpered, “Chloe, something’s wrong! There’s danger!”Â
At the same time, a robotic voice rang out in Chloe’s head. “Ding! The Frost Zombie King is closing in. Warning!Â
“The base’s Zombie King is 1,500 feet away, 1,000 feet, 800 feet getting closer.Â

Chapter 166Â
“Host, get out now! Host, get out now!”Â
The Spiritual Space System was screaming danger alerts, the voice growing louder and more frantic with every second.Â
“The Frost Zombie King is 450 feet away.”Â
Chloe’s eyes snapped open, her long lashes frosted over. Her eyes were wild, like a storm about to break.Â
The mechanical voice in her head sounded way less freaked out now. “Congratulations, Host. You’ve reached late–stage fourth–level.”Â
Even though there was still a huge gap between her and the Frost Zombie King, she had some serious advantages.Â
She could hide out in her spiritual space, had speed power, and her brain was way sharper than any zombie’s.Â
