Chapter 174Â
Chloe crawled and stumbled her way over to the patch of mutant flowers, and even she, usually so calm, couldn’t help but gape in shock.Â
He let out a loud, greedy slurp.Â
To her, those twenty–plus mutant flowers were pure power in her eyes.Â
They could fetch a fortune on the black market.Â
Not far away, she saw at least a dozen ruined mutant flowers and mutagenic herbs, all trampled and wasted.Â
She was so heartbroken that she almost wanted to beat her chest in frustration.Â
“What a couple of clueless beasts, wasting something so precious,” she muttered.Â
She carefully picked the remaining flowers, muttering curses under her breath at the dead Zombie King and mutant serpent as she worked.Â
She even gently stored the trampled ones in her spiritual space, hoping maybe Liana could figure out something useful from them.Â
Back at the inn, Spotty and Noah were sprawled out on the big bed, barely clinging to life, while Phantom Zombie stood guard right beside them, never leaving their side for a moment.Â
Chloe reached out to heal them. Noah’s abilities were restored, but his body was still a mess, like he’d been completely taken apart.Â
He’d need at least three months to get back on his feet.Â
The mutant cheetah was in even worse shape, with several bones broken inside. Chloe set the fractures and used her powers to heal them, so now all it needed was some rest.Â
Chloe didn’t hesitate to slice off a chunk of mutant serpent meat and shoved it straight into the mutant cheetah’s mouth.Â
The mutant cheetah’s eyes instantly narrowed in bliss; it looked like it could roll over in happiness right now, but the pain still made it grimace and bare its fangs.Â
Someone had even brought a plate of delicious food to Noah’s bedside.Â
His body was almost fully healed now. As long as he took it easy and didn’t try to move around too much, he’d be fine.Â
He tried to push himself up, but his arms suddenly gave out, and he flopped back onto the bed.Â
A pair of delicate hands caught him, and a sweet voice sounded from above.Â
“Are you okay? Don’t try to get up,” Chloe said softly.Â

Her warm breath drifted over his face, always so cold and aloof, and his cars flushed red in an instant.Â
‘Wait, what?‘ Suddenly, his eyes sparkled, and he started coughing violently, hand clamped over his mouth.Â
“I–I can’t even lift a finger, cough,” he gasped.Â
Then he was gently supported by her soft embrace, and she tucked a pillow behind his back.Â
Chloe picked up the bowl of soup from the table and started spoon–feeding him, one spoonful at a time.Â
Noah’s heart was pounding, and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. They were so close, he could make out even the fine fuzz on her cheeks.Â
He swallowed hard.Â
He couldn’t tell if he was starving or just completely captivated by her looks.Â
Chloe shot him a glare, her gentle voice now tinged with embarrassment and irritation. “What are you staring at? If you don’t eat, it’s going to get cold.”Â
“Oh? Oh, okay!” Noah blurted out, a little dazed.Â
He opened his mouth wide, grinning like a fool, and soup spilled out as he laughed, totally oblivious.Â
He was the very picture of a lovesick puppy.Â
The mutant cheetah lying nearby just covered its big head with its glossy black paws, looking like it couldn’t believe how hopeless it was.Â
‘Seriously, what’s so great about that annoying woman? Wouldn’t you prefer a pretty, fertile female cheetah instead?‘ the mutant cheetah grumbled to itself.Â
‘Alright, alright! Guess I’ll let it slide for now. She’s strong, can cure your poison, and gives me tasty treats.‘Â
Noah ate his soup so slowly, like he was being pampered with five–star service. The air between them suddenly felt all kinds of flirty.Â
Even Chloe felt a little weird. ‘Why does it suddenly feel so hot in here?‘ she wondered.Â
With a sharp clack, Chloe set down the bowl and spoon, stabbed a big chunk of steak with her fork, and handed it right to Noah.Â
“Eat it yourself,” she said.Â
Noah gave her his best puppy eyes. “You just fixed my arm bones, remember? I barely have any strength left.”Â
He looked at her, all pleading, then sighed dramatically. “Fine, fine, guess I’ll just go hungry.”Â
Chloe was so thrown off by his pitiful act, worried he’d start acting like a clingy boyfriend, that she just stuffed the steak straight into his mouth.Â

She huffed, “There, satisfied?”Â

Noah’s face lit up, grinning like a little kid. “Thanks, Chloe. You’re the nicest girl ever.”Â

Even the mutant cheetah on the floor and Phantom Zombie both twitched at that. ‘Nicest girl ever? Seriously?‘Â
“Alright, quit messing around. While the Zombie King and mutant serpent’s aura is still scaring off the zombie hordes, I’m gonna loot everything around here,” Chloe said.Â
Chloe looked over at the folks on the bed. “If you guys want to stay here and rest, I’ll leave Phantom Zombie here to watch over you.”Â
“I’m coming with you,” Noah replied instantly.Â
He had his base truck stashed in his spiritual space anyway, so chilling in there worked just fine.Â
“Alright, we’ll crash here at the hotel tonight and set off tomorrow,” Chloe said.Â
It was already afternoon, and with days getting shorter and nights longer, it’d be dark soon. Not the best time to head out.Â
So, with Noah giving her that pitiful, accusing look, Chloe walked out of the room.Â
Time was money, and while it was still light out, she figured she’d better start looting the hotel.Â
She started from the top floor, slicing open every door with her wind blades, revealing spotless, well–kept rooms inside.Â
This was a five–star hotel, and every bed was custom–ordered with plush duck down mattresses, so soft and comfy you’d never want to get up.Â
The blankets were skin–friendly and unbelievably cozy. In this freezing apocalypse, having something like that was a rare treat.Â
She was planning to build her own base someday, so all this stuff would come in handy.Â
She stashed everything away in her spiritual space.Â
The whole building had over a dozen floors, and by the time she’d looted every last room, night had fallen completely.Â
When she got back to the room, she was greeted by three pairs of eyes, all glaring at her as she’d just committed a crime.Â
“Where did you go? Why did you take so long?” Noah’s voice was so whiny, it almost sounded like he was about to cry.Â
Phantom Zombie couldn’t talk, but as the future Zombie King, it had a spark of intelligence now. It shot Noah a helpless look.Â

Noah stood out with his tall, commanding presence, almost 6’3“, and that usually icy, handsome face was now twisted in a sulky pout. He looked like a prince, but acted like a drama queen.Â
Chloe was sure of it; this guy must’ve been the king of his world before the apocalypse.Â
But ever since he lost his memory and started crushing on Chloe, his usually icy features had mellowed out a lot.Â
“I didn’t go far. I just cleaned out the whole hotel. Once we set up our own base, all this stuff will come in handy,” Chloe said.Â
She’d already stockpiled a fortune in supplies before the apocalypse, and then looted everything in Hevenseale. Feeding a squad? Easy. She could keep the whole Bluehaven Base fed for life if she wanted.Â
But honestly, nobody ever complained about having too many supplies.Â
Chloe had survived the most brutal apocalypse in her previous life; she’d eaten trash, chewed on tree bark, drank urine, and nearly gone full savage.Â
