After everything she’d been through, Chloe had become a total hoarder; if there was space in her spiritual space, she’d grab anything she laid eyes on, useful or not.Â
She was like a swarm of locusts, leaving nothing behind.Â
She’d even dig up the concrete floor if she could. If it were possible, she’d probably haul the whole building into her space, too.Â
Early the next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Chloe opened her eyes.Â
And there, looming over her, was Noah’s face, so devastatingly handsome it almost hurt, his eyes locked right on hers.Â
Even Chloe felt her heart skip a beat, no matter how hard she tried to stay cool.Â
Noah grinned, “Chloe, you’re drooling.”Â
‘What?‘ Chloe paused, momentarily stunned.Â
Chloe automatically wiped at her mouth, but it was dry. Noah had totally played her. Annoyed, she gave him a smack on the head.Â
“Why are you sleeping in my bed?” Chloe snapped.Â
Noah didn’t even flinch at the smack; he just grinned with that smug look, like a cat that just stole the cream.Â
“I was cold,” he said, totally unfazed.Â
Chloe couldn’t help but roll her eyes. ‘He doesn’t even try to make his lies sound believable, she thought.Â
He was totally chill when the Frost Zombie King dropped the temperature to minus 750 °F, like it was nothing. Now it’s just minus 140 °F, and he’s whining about being cold.Â
‘Who’s he trying to fool?‘ Chloe scoffed to herself.Â
“I’m an ice–powered human, remember? The air around me is even colder than outside. If you’re cold, then stay away from me,” Chloe retorted.Â
Noah blinked, a hint of frustration flickering in his eyes as he looked down, his long lashes casting a shadow over his gaze.Â
“First, I was freezing in the middle of the night, then I got all hot and bothered. But your body was so cool and refreshing, I just couldn’t help it, so—” he mumbled, trailing off.Â
Chloe didn’t even bother with his excuses. She got up, shot him a warning, “Don’t pull that stunt again.”Â
Her gaze was deadly serious, like she might actually snap. Yeah, she looked genuinely pissed.Â

“Your heart’s beating faster. I can hear it, you know,” Noah said out of nowhere, his tone full of mischief.Â
Chloe almost flipped out at that. “Get up, now. We’re leaving,” she snapped.Â
Noah just stayed in bed, sliding into the spot Chloe had just left and burying his face in the blanket, sniffing it like he was searching for her scent.Â
“Chloe, your blanket smells so good,” he teased, flashing her a playful grin.Â
Chloe snatched the blanket away and stuffed it into her spiritual space, shooting him a fierce glare. “Are you coming or not? If you’re not, you can just stay here for good.”Â
Noah acted all pitiful, patting his chest. “Ouch, it hurts! My whole body aches. I can’t even get up. What am I supposed to do?”Â
He really was all busted up last night, and Chloe had put him back together. She’d used her powers to heal most of it, but honestly, she still couldn’t tell if he was just faking it.Â
Chloe took a deep breath. “Phantom Zombie, give him a lift downstairs.”Â
Then she called out to the mutant cheetah, “Shrink back to your palm–sized form so I can carry you downstairs.”Â
Noah wasn’t having it. He shot the mutant cheetah a warning glare, basically saying, ‘If you let Phantom Zombie carry me, I’ll make you regret it.’Â
“Noah!” Chloe snapped, her voice sharp and full of warning.Â
Realizing Chloe was actually mad, Noah hung his head, looking all sulky. “Fine, I will walk then,” he grumbled under his breath.Â
Meanwhile, the intimidating aura from the Zombie King and the mutant python at the Medical Tower had faded a lot, and zombies started flooding in.Â
As they made their way downstairs, they ran into a dozen or so second–level mutant zombies.Â
With the apocalypse going on for over two months, second–level mutant zombies were already the elites of the horde; seeing them around was just normal now.Â
Chloe only had a few high–grade zombie cores left in her spiritual space; the rest had all been absorbed. She was running low and had to get more.Â
With a wave of her hand, a wind blade shot out, instantly decapitating a dozen second–level mutant zombies.Â
The blade spun back around, split their heads open, scooped up the cores, and sent them straight into Chloe’s hand.Â
She was totally pumped.Â
After that showdown with those two powerful mutant creatures, Chloe could feel the difference; her body was tougher, and her zombie–slaying skills had leveled up big time compared to before.Â

A camper van materialized out of nowhere. Chloe tossed Noah and the mutant cheetah inside, Phantom Zombie slid into the passenger seat, and she jumped behind the wheel, ready to hit the road.Â
Whenever zombies came at them, Chloe would flick out a wind blade.Â
Heads would roll in a bloody instant, and the zombie cores would get swept up by the gust, spinning straight into her lap in the driver’s seat.Â
It was just too damn satisfying.Â
When they passed by a whole row of villas, Chloe’s eyes went green with envy. She seriously wished she could just haul all those houses straight into her spiritual space.Â
But they were all stuck to the ground, so even if she did manage to stash them away, they’d be pretty much useless once she tried to pull them back out.Â
They rolled up to a gas station, the whole place iced over. Chloe figured there was still a ton of gas inside.Â
She hopped out and used her ice power to clear the ice, just like that, all the ice and snow were gone.Â
The real issue was manpower. There was no way Noah was going to dig it out himself. Way too much hassle.Â
Just then, Chloe spotted a bunch of supplies still sitting in the gas station’s mini–mart.Â
Inside, a man was clutching a woman, his head moving up and down against her chest.Â
Chloe did a double–take at the steamy scene, then realized it was actually a zombie feasting on a human.Â
With a flick of her wind blade, both the zombies and the humans‘ heads dropped to the floor in an instant.Â
She walked into the mini–mart and saw there were still loads of supplies inside.Â
There was pasta, bottled water, and even some booze and cigarettes.Â
Just as Chloe was about to scoop up all the loot into her spiritual space, someone yelled at her from behind.Â
“Stop right there! This is our turf,” a voice barked.Â
She spun around to find four or five guys, each gripping a fire axe, looking like a bunch of thugs ready to start trouble.Â
But when they actually saw her looks and the way she dressed, they all stopped in their tracks, stunned.Â
“Damn, boss, this chick is smoking hot!” one of them let out a low whistle. “Is she an angel who just dropped down from heaven or something?”Â
Another bald guy gave her a sleazy grin. “Man, after all this time in the apocalypse, I never thought I’d see a woman looking this fresh and gorgeous.”Â
Forget about regular women. Even the powered ones who could fight were all grimy and worn out these days.Â

But right now, Chloe was rocking a red dress, her skin glowing like springtime, looking like some ethereal beauty who’d stumbled into the apocalypse by accident.Â
She had everyone completely mesmerized.Â
But the boss, standing off to the side, frowned, his eyes lighting up with greedy intent.Â
“Don’t talk nonsense. You’ll freak the girl out,” he said, his voice suddenly gentle, a tone nobody had ever heard from him before.Â
To the guys, it probably looked like the boss was just worried about freaking out the pretty girl.Â
But was that really what he was thinking?Â
The boss gave Chloe a once–over. “Did you kill all those zombies outside?”Â
He’d just heard there were supplies in this mini–mart, and the whole way here, it was just headless zombies lying everywhere.Â
Each one dropped with a single blow.Â
And this girl, clean and neat, looked like a goddess, and even facing a bunch of thugs like us, she didn’t even flinch. She was clearly not your average girl.Â
But the weirdest part? She was rocking just a dress in this insane cold. That was straight–up bizarre.Â
He’d survived this long and ended up as the boss of these thugs; he definitely wasn’t the kind of guy who let lust mess with his head.Â
“So this is your turf?” Chloe asked, her voice as enchanting as an orchid blooming in a hidden valley, so mesmerizing that it could make anyone’s heart flutter.Â
The boss gave a sheepish grin. “Y–Yeah, that’s right, but if you want anything, go ahead and help yourself. Take whatever you want.”Â
His guys stared at him in shock. “Boss, are you even hearing yourself right now?” one of them blurted out.Â
“Boss, we can’t just let her take everything! We’re counting on this stuff to keep us alive,” another guy protested.Â
