To these old folks, il a inan was strong, he was basically a legend someone meant to protect them. But if a woman had power, she was seen as some kind of freak and better off dead.Â
So when they saw the women left outside, they were practically aming with excitement, not a shred of guilt on their faces, even though those women had just risked their lives to save them.Â
Kiera, the old lady who’d been talking earlier, shouted at the twonen outside, “You’re men! You should be protecting us! Get back here now, and let’s get out of here while we still have a chance!”Â
To them, Chloe’s squad was already surrounded by zombies and getting killed was just a matter of time. All they cared about was grabbing the chance to bail before things got ugly.Â
They just took it for granted that men were supposed to be their shield.Â
If the tough guys didn’t come back to protect them, there was no way they’d risk leaving.Â
After all, they were way out in the middle of nowhere. Nobody knew what other dangers might be lurking out there.Â
The old folks started hollering at the guys outside, and just like that, they ended up luring the zombies right back over.Â
The two men left outside shot a look at their buddies who’d already rushed out after the zombies, paused for a moment, but ended up backing away.Â
Charging in was a death sentence, so they figured it was better to take their friends and bail.Â
“Shut up!” An old man quickly covered her mouth, grumbling in annoyance. “If you keep running your mouth, those zombies will come straight for us!”Â
She finally went quiet.Â
“Come on, let’s get out of here!” one of the men urged, voice tense.Â
The guys teamed up and finished off the last few zombies, then jumped into the car and sped off, taking a detour to avoid any more trouble.Â
The young man who was still fighting zombies outside was so furious his eyes were practically bloodshot.Â
“Those bastards ditched us!” he yelled, voice trembling with rage.Â
The girl’s gaze was icy. “Don’t let it distract you.”Â
The few burly women glanced back through the car window, catching nothing but cold, indifferent stares, and felt ice in their veins.Â
No time to feel hurt. The zombie’s revolting face was already right in front of her. She gritted her teeth and swung the fire axe hard, hacking off the arms that lunged at her.Â
The next second, those severed arms, still leaking black blood, smeared across her face, and the stench was so foul it shot straight to her brain.Â
Her mind went fuzzy as the zombie’s grip clamped tight around her neck.Â
Zombies were freakishly strong. Once they got their hands on you, there was almost no way out.Â
In her eyes, the zombie’s disgusting face was reflected, looming larger and larger until it was right in front of her. Its jaws gaping wide, fangs still streaked with blood.Â

Chapter 194Â
It was about to bite down on her neck.Â
Despair clouded her gaze as she watched her companions‘ car fade into the distance.Â
The man she’d risked her life to protect didn’t even spare her angle look, not even a glance back.Â
Maybe dying is the only way. Maybe only death could numb this pain, she thought.Â
She closed her eyes in silence, a single tear slipping from the corner of her eye.Â
But the pain she was expecting never came. Instead, the weight on her suddenly lifted, and she opened her eyes in shock.Â
The zombie that had its arms locked around her neck had both arms hacked clean off at the shoulders in one brutal stroke.Â
The zombie at her feet let out a hideous roar, its shoulders now empty. Even without arms, it still tried to lunge forward, writhing and crawling desperately.Â
Maria quickly stepped back, snatched up the fire axe that had fallen, and swung it down hard, chopping the zombie’s head clean off.Â
She gasped for air, relief flooding her eyes. She’d made it out alive.Â
Why is it suddenly freezing out here?‘ She thought, shivering.Â
She whipped her head around, eyes going wide. She thought, ‘Holy crap, what the hell am I looking at?‘Â
Just ahead, dozens of zombies were instantly frozen solid, turning into ice statues. With a single crack of a whip, they shattered into pieces all over the ground.Â
But that was just the beginning.Â
NÂ
She saw a girl in a spring dress, and everywhere she went, a chill shimmered in the air. Zombies were freezing up right before her eyes, turning into ice sculptures in seconds.Â
In just one second, dozens of zombies were wiped out.Â
The woman wasn’t the only one who saw it. The other tough women, plus the young man and girl, all witnessed it too.Â
They were all stunned speechless, lips quivering in disbelief.Â
“Oh my God, what the hell am I even looking at?”Â
“Is there really someone this insanely powerful out there?”Â
They lived way out in a remote, town, totally cut off from everything. There was no radio, no news, nothing. To them, the men in their little town were already the toughest guys around.Â
But now, they realized there were folks out there who made their local tough guys look like amateurs.Â
“They’re all superhuman! Absolute monsters!” These people all yelled out together.Â
In their town, the old folks called any powered human a “superhuman,” but if it was a woman, they’d label her a “monster.”Â
The girl in the crowd was exactly the kind of “monster” those old folks saw her as.Â
The zombies just kept coming, wave after wave, like they’d never run out. But once Chloe, Noah, Spotty, and the Phantom Zombie jumped into the fray, everything started to change.Â
Before thirty minutes were up, thousands upon thousands of zombies had been wiped out.Â

Chapter 194Â
Frank gave Chloe a helpless grin, then looked around at the ground–zombie chunks everywliere, all frozen and smashed toÂ
bitsÂ
“The damage is insane” he said. “but seriously, how are we supposed to get the cores out of all this ice?”Â
Those frozen zombie heads were tough as rocks,Â
Everyone glanced around. Looked like about a third of the zombies were locked up in solid ice.Â
Chloe rubbed her nose. “Uh, I totally forgot about that.”Â
She glanced at the ground, where zombie heads were scattered everywhere, all frozen solid, and her mouth twitched.Â
She could technically pull the ice back, but thawing out each heal one by one was just way too much work.Â
Besides, these were just regular zombies and first–level ones. Nothing was worth the hassle.Â
“My bad. Totally spaced on that,” Chloe said.Â
Frank waved his hand dismissively. “No big deal. They’re just junk anyway.”Â
He called out to the group, “Come on, let’s get to work and dig out the rest of those zombie cores.”Â
The thirty–plus people from Blaze Haven didn’t waste a single word. They just pulled out their daggers and got to work, digging out the zombie cores.Â
The six of them were still frozen in place, jaws practically on the floor, unable to process what they’d just witnessed.Â
Clayton walked over. Back at Bluehaven Base, Chloe had handed him the very last bottle of mutagenic liquid, and now he was an earth–powered human.Â
He was in charge of looking after the regular folks who came along, and he’d be running all the building projects at the new base. Clayton always knew how to read the room and act accordingly.Â
When they saw someone coming their way, they flinched in fear. Just thinking about how badass Chloe had been wiping out zombies earlier, their knees buckled and they dropped to the ground.Â
“Who are you people?” Clayton asked, with a hint of irritation in his voice.Â
Those old folks had been total jerks, and these women were with them. Even if these people weren’t as bad as the old folks, he still felt pretty pissed about the whole thing.Â
The girl at the front was the only powered human in her group. She hurried forward and gave a curtsy to Clayton.Â
Her powers might’ve been even stronger than Clayton’s, but with so many people on his side, there was no way she could go up against them.Â
“Sir, we’re from Grovenwich. We’re just out here looking for supplies,” she said.Â
As soon as they heard “Grovenwich,” everyone froze in place. The next moment, Chloe suddenly showed up, her silhouette flashing over like a ghost.Â
