Chapter 200
The speed was so insane that even the remaining men and the dogs didn’t have time to react.
In barely 0.01 seconds, the man was wiped out instantly,
By the time they snapped out of it, two more guys had already been killed.
Chloe knocked out all the dogs with her stick. Their constant barking was giving her a headache.

The survivors who had made it this far were sharp. They saw Chloe wipe out three guys, including their leader, in the blink of an eye, and they bolted without a second thought.
But no matter how fast they ran, there was no way they could outrun Chloe, a speed–type powered human.
She launched herself forward and kicked the last guy flying. His head slammed into the ice, and he passed out cold.
The other two guys were smart. They split up, one running left and the other right.
Chloe sneered. She raised her right hand, and an ice wall shot up in front of the guy on the left. He crashed into it with a loud thud.
The guy on the right heard the noise and turned around, his eyes going wide in shock.
Panicked, he slipped and fell on the icy river.
Chloe didn’t hesitate. She broke both their legs, tied them up with rope, and gagged them.
Then Chloe reached out to her spiritual space, trying to connect.
“System, is there a way to make these dogs loyal to me? Can you make them see me as their owner?” Chloe asked.
There were twelve dogs altogether–four Tibetan Mastiffs, and the rest were sled dogs, all purebred.
Before the apocalypse hit, Chloe was so focused on stockpiling supplies that she totally forgot about getting some dogs.
Dogs would be perfect for guarding the place. Even if they weren’t the best fighters, their sharp senses and keen noses made them way better night watchmen than people.
As soon as she finished speaking, a spiritual space panel popped up in her mind, filled with all kinds of stuff- immunity liquid, mutagenic liquid, all sorts of weapons, and even a laser cannon.
There were all sorts of bizarre and powerful–sounding items, and just reading the names made them seem insanely strong.
But every item had points required listed underneath. When she saw the laser cannon needed a whopping 50,000 points, she almost choked.

She glanced at her total points in the bottom right corner. It was a big fat zero.
Chloe could only stare speechlessly.

“Host, once your spiritual space hits level 3, it starts running on points. You’ll need a whopping 100,000 points to get it up to level 6,” the system explained.
“The stuff on the panel is all new apocalypse gear. You’ll need points to unlock any of it,” it added.
Chloe caught on fast. “So I gotta hunt down cores, emeralds, energy stones, and whatever else to rack up points, right?”
The system replied, “Yep, that’s right.”
With a determined stomp, Chloe cashed in all the cores she’d been hoarding in her spiritual space.
“For level–one zombie cores, you need a thousand to get one point. You’ve got 30,000, so that’s 30 points.
“A hundred level–two zombie cores get you one point. You’ve got 5,000, so that’s 50 points.
“Ten level–three zombie cores get you one point. You’ve got 32, except for those two…” the system started to explain.
Chloe’s mouth fell open in disbelief. Before the system could finish, she interrupted.
“Hang on, hang on! I’m not trading my level–three cores!” Chloe insisted.
Hearing the system’s announcement, Chloe felt like grinding her teeth in frustration. Three whole days out there, slaying zombies and scooping up every core she could find, even the ones from zombie heads smashed by hail. And now, all of them had been cashed in.
Watching all those zombie cores vanish from her spiritual space, Chloe felt like crying her eyes out.
‘Spiritual space, you really are a gold–devouring beast. Lucky for you, it’s me. Anyone else would’ve broke ages ago,‘ Chloe thought.

“Alright, Host, you’ve got 80 points now,” the system said.
Chloe took a deep breath. “Alright, 80 points it is. Can I use my spiritual space points to buy the loyalty of these twelve dogs?”
“Yes, 10 points for each dog,” the system replied.
Chloe’s eyes went wide, and she nearly choked on her own spit. ‘Seriously? That’s insane!
‘After busting my ass for three days straight, I still can’t afford to buy these dogs‘ loyalty?
‘This is just too much. It’s heartbreaking,‘ she thought.
“Host, you still have two level 4 mutant cores. Each one can only get you 10 points,” the system said.

Chloe instantly hugged her pocket protectively, glaring at the empty air as she blurted out,
She said, “Don’t even think about it!”

‘Mutant cores are a whole different league from regular ones. They’re super rare! And you’re telling me they’re only worth 10 points each? That’s just robbery!‘ Chloe fumed inwardly.
The two guys, lying there like dead fish with their legs broken, were so terrified they wet themselves. Hearing Chloe muttering to herself nearby, they flinched in fear.
The pain in their bodies, plus being unable to use their powers to keep out the cold, left them shivering uncontrollably.
Chloe was still bargaining with the system, and in the end, she had to sell off the last bits of her stash in the spiritual space just to scrape together 120 points.
“Is that enough now?” Chloe snapped, her voice full of attitude. If the system ever showed up in person, she’d probably lay into it without hesitation.
She could only take a deep breath, watching her hard–earned 120 points disappear from the panel. Her heart hurt so much it felt like it was bleeding.
‘Wait, I need 100,000 points just to get my spiritual space to level 6 after level 3?
‘My god, that’s a crazy huge number!‘ she thought, feeling totally overwhelmed.
“System, are you serious right now?” Chloe blurted out, disbelief written all over her face.
She suddenly felt all her energy drain away, completely deflated.
‘At this rate, even if I wiped out every zombie in the world, it still wouldn’t be enough to get my spiritual space to level 10.
‘Is this system trying to kill me or what?‘ Chloe thought, her heart sinking.
“Host, you need to realize these are just regular cores. If you find mutant energy, those are worth way more points,” the system explained.
“Is there any other way?” Chloe asked.
The system paused, then said, “Yes, Host. You can accumulate merit, and merit gives you the most points.”
Chloe’s eyes lit up. “How do I earn merit?”
It wasn’t that she didn’t know what merit was. She’d just always been so caught up in fighting and survival, she’d never really thought about it.
“Save humanity,” the system replied.
Chloe literally choked on her own spit, eyes wide with shock. She looked absolutely dumbfounded.

If it weren’t for all those nightmare mutant monsters coming later and the fact that she’d need a badass team just to survive, she wouldn’t even think about setting up a base.
‘Honestly, how awesome would it be to just go solo?‘ Chloe thought, feeling a bit wistful.
“Come on, system, is there any other way?” Chloe grumbled, not hiding her impatience.
“Yes. You can do system quests,” the system answered.
Chloe’s eyes lit up. ‘No way, this thing actually has quests?‘ she thought, surprised.
“So, what kind of quest? Just give me one to start with,” Chloe pressed, her curiosity getting the better of her.
“Take down a level 6 mutant zombie.”
Chloe rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they didn’t get stuck. Level 4 mutant zombies were already rare as unicorns, and running into a level 5 was pure luck.
‘Level 6? Seriously?‘ Chloe thought, on the verge of losing it.
Chloe rolled up her sleeves and started cursing out the system in her head. “System, come out here right now! I swear I won’t kill you!”
The system went dead silent, and Chloe was about to explode.
