Chapter 202

Chloe raced back at top speed. It had taken her three days to get out here, but she was back in just a few hours. 

After returning to Blaze Haven, Chloe realized Noah was already gone. On her way back, when she passed by Stone Lake, she was shocked to see there were still people living in those lakeside villas. 

Beside each villa stood an ice shelter, looking tough as a fortress. 

A few young guys came out, hoes slung over their shoulders. When they spotted the huge RV, they exchanged a look. Pure greed in their eyes. 

“There are actually survivors out here? And check out that RV! Man, if only we had a ride like that,” one of them muttered. 

The scruffy bearded guy burst out laughing and swaggered right into the middle of the road, hoe in hand. “That RV? It’s ours. Been missing for days, and now we’ve finally caught the little thief.” 

The three guys behind him exchanged glances. They all knew what was up. 

“Yeah, that thief actually dared to steal our ride? Let’s kill him,” one of them growled. 

As they talked, they moved right into the middle of the road. “Just follow my lead,” the bearded guy said. 

He reached out with both hands, and a layer of frost slowly formed in his palms, growing thicker and thicker. 

Chloe was anxious, driving at full speed. There was no way she was stopping. 

She spotted a few guys suddenly darting into the middle of the road, draped in the pelts of some unknown beast, farm tools slung over their shoulders, their faces buried under wild beards, like cavemen straight out of the Stone Age. 

She slammed her hand on the horn. 

The blaring horn didn’t make the “wild men” back off. Instead, when they saw who was inside the RV, their eyes lit up with 

excitement. 

Brian, a bearded man, thought, ‘Damn, what a beauty!‘ 

The guys behind him could barely contain themselves. “Brian, look. The driver’s a total babe!” 

“Who would’ve thought that sly little thief would turn out to be such a knockout? Talk about a lucky break,” they laughed. 

In just a few seconds, the RV that had been way off in the distance was suddenly right in front of them. 

Brian even ran a hand through his hair, trying to look cool. 

With a whoosh, the RV didn’t even slow down. Instead, it sped up. 

The guys were left gaping. ‘Damn, this girl is wild! Is she actually trying to run us over?‘ they thought. 

But they weren’t fazed. They caught sight of the ice spikes shooting up from the ground and grinned like they’d already 

won. 

“Too bad those tires are about to get shredded, they thought. 

“She’s coming in too fast! Everyone, get out of the way!” the man shouted, darting to the side first.

Chapter 202

Then the RV zoomed past them, sparks flying, and disappeared down the road in a flash. 

The guys were left stunned, just gaping at each other, totally speechless. 

Brian hurried out into the middle of the road to check on the ice spikes he’d just summoned. 

“Brian, these ice spikes are toast! What are those tires made of? Not even a dent,” one of the guys said, eyes wide in 

amazement. 

His eyes were full of disbelief. 

That just made him crave that RV even more. 

Guys have always been car nuts. Even in the apocalypse, that hasn’t changed. The only difference is that now it’s all about rugged, indestructible rides instead of flashy sports cars. 

“Should we go after her?” one of the guys asked. 

Brian watched the RV fade into the distance. “That way… That’s where they built that new scenic spot.” 

“Get the crew together. Let’s go check it out,” he said. 

That RV had been totally tricked out and upgraded by Frank. It could easily withstand attacks from level–three mutant creatures, so there was no way some measly ice spikes could ever puncture those tires. 

Chloe floored it all the way, finally rolling into Blaze Haven in the afternoon. 

Her teammates had stayed put, just like she told them to. 

But after Chloe sucked all the snow and ice into her spiritual space, the air inside Blaze Haven felt way warmer than before. 

Inside the Botanic Gardens, the snakes, bugs, and rodents that had been hibernating were starting to stir. 

She even noticed a few rare trees had actually sprouted fresh new leaves. 

A blue–eyed mutant zombie was relentlessly attacking the base villa, desperate to break in. 

But the villa had been reinforced by the base’s defense system, so no matter how hard the zombie smashed into it, it didn’t even budge. 

Up close, Chloe realized it was a level–five mutant zombie. 

Zombies were already insanely strong. Fighting against a powered human of the same level, they could totally overpower them. 

But this one was unlucky enough to run into Chloe, the death goddess herself. 

Chloe shot out of the RV, a tornado of razor–sharp wind blades swirling around her, tearing into the mutant zombie’s neck with ruthless force. 

The moment everyone inside Blaze Haven realized their leader was back, they poured out of the base, blasting the zombie with all sorts of long–range powers. 

The blue–eyed mutant zombie didn’t stand a chance. It was dead in no time, 

Chloe pocketed the core and hurried over to the crowd, scanning everyone anxiously.

Chapter 202 

Frank called out, “Hey Chloe, you looking for something?” 

Emily snickered, “Please, we all know she isn’t searching for something. She’s searching for Noah.” 

Others let out a nasty laugh. 

Chloe didn’t pay any attention to their jokes and asked anxiously, “Where’s Noah?” 

Seeing her worried expression, everyone sobered up. One of them asked, “Did something happen?” 

“Earlier, Blaze Haven got attacked by a bunch of level–four Frostbeasts. Noah went out to fight them, someone replied. 

Chloe’s frown finally eased. 

‘As long as he didn’t run into that group, everything should be fine, Chloe thought. 

“Wait, how long has he been out there?” Chloe asked. 

“He left this morning,” someone replied. That’s when everyone realized that Noah had been gone all day and still hadn’t come back. 

With his strength, taking down a few level–four Frostbeasts shouldn’t have taken him this long- 

Chloe’s heart, which had just started to settle, leapt with worry again. “Which way did he go?” 

Emily pointed off down the road. 

“That’s the same way you came back. Normally, you would’ve run into him,” she said. 

Without another word, Chloe called out over her shoulder and jumped into the RV. 

“Don’t leave the base. Just stay put,” she ordered. 

Chloe searched for ages, but there wasn’t a single person in sight, not even the slightest sign of a struggle anywhere along the 

road. 

‘Where did he go? Did that group take him away?‘ she thought, her heart racing. 

She was so worried, she didn’t even notice the empty ache inside her like a piece of her was missing. 

Chloe ran into the same group again. Brian was about to say something, but before he could even open his mouth, the RV zipped past them in a blur. 

“Brian, maybe we should just head back?” one of the guys suggested. 

Brian shook his head. “Nah, let’s go see what else is over there.” 

Following the tire tracks, they ended up at Blaze Haven. They lay low and spied on the place, and couldn’t believe it. There were clear signs of human activity. 

The guys shot each other a look, then bolted back to spread the word. 

Inside a villa by Stone Lake, someone exclaimed, “What? Are there actually survivors near the Botanic Gardens? No way that’s impossible!” 

Brian took a sip of hot water. “Walter, we all saw it for ourselves. There are real signs of people living over there.”
