This time, they weren’t just leaving the base to look for survivors. They were out here to put everyone through some real training.
Unless they ran into something really tough, Chloe wasn’t going to step in.
By the end of the day, even Chiara and Filip had picked up a thing or two about fighting.
If they wanted to level up and get stronger, it wasn’t just about absorbing cores. They had to get their hands dirty in real
battles.
Inside the RV, Linda brought over a bowl of chicken soup she’d just made.
“Is this girl going to be okay?” Linda asked.
Chloe pulled her hand back from channeling green energy into the girl. “She’ll be fine. She’s just been anemic for a long time, really weak, and lost a lot of blood. She just needs some rest and care.”
Linda nodded, then noticed the girl lying on the bed slowly opening her eyes.
Their eyes met, and the girl looked completely lost.
“Am I dead?” the girl rasped, her voice hoarse and full of disbelief.
Seeing a girl not much older than her own daughter, Linda’s heart softened.
“Little one, you’re finally awake! I just made some chicken noodle soup. Why don’t you try some while it’s still hot?” Linda said gently.
Mia caught a whiff of the delicious aroma and thought she must’ve died and gone to heaven.
‘Chicken noodle soup?‘ Mia wondered in a daze.
She hadn’t tasted anything like this in ages.
“Sweetie, how did you end up all alone in such a dangerous place? Where’s your family?” Linda asked softly.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Linda winced inwardly.
Her family must be gone. Otherwise, why would she be out here by herself? Linda thought.
Sure enough, at the mention of her family, the girl’s eyes dropped and a few sparkling tears slipped down her cheeks
“My dad died trying to save the villagers. My grandparents and mom starved themselves so I could eat.
“In the end, only the men were left in the village, and the things they tried to do… I snuck out when I got the chance,” Mia said, her voice trembling
Her expression said more than words ever could, and everyone in the room got it right away.
“Fucking monsters,” Linda muttered, so furious she nearly spilled the chicken soup in her hands.
Mia quickly shook her head. I got away before they could do anything to me.”

Chapter 215
Frank whipped his head around. “Where’s that village you mentioned? Can you take us there?”
Mia’s eyes went wide with fear, and she instinctively shrank back.

Frank was a big guy with a rough look and a booming voice. Mia probably just got the wrong idea about him.
Joan smacked him on the forehead and shot him a glare.
“Just zip it if you’ve got nothing helpful to say,” Joan snapped.
Joan gave Mia a gentle smile. “Don’t worry, we’re just looking for survivors who want to help out at Blaze Haven. We’ll give you supplies in exchange for your help.”
Chiara leaned in, adding, “We’re not bad people, and we’d never turn you over to them.”
Seeing how clean and kind everyone seemed, Mia finally started to let her guard down a little.
“Blaze Haven?” Mia repeated, still confused.
She’d never heard of any base called Blaze Haven back in her village.
“They’re all bad people. If you go there, they’d even steal your RV,” Mia warned.
Joan handed the bowl of chicken soup to Mia, and she couldn’t help but start shoveling it into her mouth.
‘Even if there’s poison in this, even if these folks are up to something, at least I’ll go out with a full belly.
‘It tastes so good. I haven’t had chicken noodle soup this delicious in forever,‘ Mia thought.
Joan gently patted Mia’s head. “Don’t worry, no one’s taking it from us.”
After about ten minutes, they rolled up to the village. Just like Blaze Haven, there were a bunch of lakeside villas.
But here, there were way fewer. Just a dozen or so villas scattered here and there.
It was already midnight, and everything was pitch black. They decided to get some rest and deal with things in the morning.
Before long, the next morning rolled around. Frank woke up in the driver’s seat, stretched, and caught sight of a dozen pairs of eyes staring in through the windshield.
They were all watching the RV like hungry wolves, muttering among themselves, clearly sizing up who’d get dibs on the RV.
An old man stepped out from the crowd with his hands behind his back, looking all important.
He acted like the people inside didn’t even exist, walked around the RV a few times, nodding like he owned the place.
“Alright, I’ve made up my mind. This RV’s coming to my house. From now on, the village will take care of it, and we’ll use it whenever we go hunting or need to head out,” the old man announced.
“So what do we do with the folks inside?” one of the villagers barked.
The old man gave Frank, still sitting in the driver’s seat, a dismissive look and sneered.
“Lock them up for now. We’ll decide what to do with them later,” he said.
Everyone knew exactly what that meant. They were just keeping them around as backup food.

Chapter 215
Frank just snorted at their little scheme.

If the base wasn’t so desperate for hands to harvest rye right now, Frank would’ve gladly cut that old bastard’s tongue out himself.
A few other guys were peering in through the windows, faces pressed up against the glass, shovels gripped tight in their hands.
When they spotted the people inside, their eyes went wide and they started pointing at the RV, calling out excitedly to the old man.
“Hey, there are a bunch of women in there, and they’re all gorgeous!” one of them shouted.
Hearing that, the other guys all stood on tiptoe, faces smashed against the glass, trying to get a better look at Emily, Mindy, Chloe, and the rest.
They were practically drooling all over the glass.
“Damn, this is awesome! Looks like God finally took pity on us and sent a whole bunch of gorgeous women our way!” one of them crowed.
Just thinking about the two women left in the village–worn out and barely alive, filthy and reeking–made them feel nothing but disgust.
But when they saw Chloe, they couldn’t help but get all riled up, itching to yank the door open and pin her down right then
and there.
And just like that, they started making a move for the door.
A bunch of the guys couldn’t hold themselves back anymore and started smashing at the door with their shovels.
The old man, furious, went around and kicked each of them in a rage.
‘Hey, what are you idiots doing? The RV and the women are ours, so take it easy! If you break something, what then?” he snapped.
One of the big guys, easily six feet tall, licked his lips and said, “But if we don’t bust the door open, how are we guys supposed to get in?”
The old man’s beady eyes darted around, then he shouted at Frank, “Hey there, you must be new around here! Welcome!”
The old man thought Frank would get out and strike up a conversation, making it easy to take control of him.
But instead, Frank just gave him a frosty stare, didn’t say a word, and turned away to chat with his crew, completely ignoring the old man.
Getting snubbed like that for the first time, the old man’s eyes flashed with irritation.
As Frank turned, he asked Chloe, “Chloe, that old guy looks pretty shaky on his feet. Doubt he can handle any real work
Chloe nodded and this nod said it all.
Only then did Frank open the door and step out, moving slowly and deliberately
The moment he got out, two big guys lunged at him from either side, trying to grab him. But in a flash, Frank had them both pinned down before they even knew what hit them.

The old man looked totally stunned.
His eyes darted around, and he flashed a mouthful of yellow teeth. “Hey, kid, you’re pretty tough. Ever thought about joining
us?”
Frank cocked an eyebrow. “Hey, coot, what is this place anyway? Don’t tell me your whole village is just a bunch of guys like you?”
Being called “coot” made the old man fume inside, but he just kept grinning like nothing was wrong.
“We’ve got plenty of muscle in our village, and even some extra rations. Stick with us and you’ll never go hungry,” the old man said, trying to sound inviting.
