Even though everyone was running as fast as they could, the impact still knocked them back dozens of feet.Â
Fortunately, the zombie tiger was only after Chloe from the start and didn’t bother chasing anyone else, so the rest got offÂ
casy.Â
The zombie tiger was so fast that one couldn’t even catch a glimpse of it before it appeared right next to Chloe. The closer it got, the more drool was streaming from its mouth.Â
In the zombie tiger’s eyes, high–level powered humans were the ultimate delicacy.Â
It wasn’t just mutant zombies that had cores. The powered humans had them too, right next to their hearts.Â
Just like powered humans absorb cores to get stronger, mutant zombies could boost their own power by devouring powered humans.Â
Even though the zombie tiger wasn’t exactly smart, it had a killer instinct for sniffing out food and could easily tell which humans would make the best meal.Â
To it, high–level powered humans were the juiciest targets.Â
Lightning flashed across the sky, hammering the mutant zombie tiger over and over, but it didn’t do a damn thing.Â
Blood trickled from Filip’s mouth, but his eyes stayed fierce as he pushed himself to keep the lightning coming at the zombie tiger.Â
Chiara was just as pale, tiny sparks of starlight fell from her hands onto Chloe, but her power wasn’t helping much anymore.Â
The rest of the team, eyes blazing red, struggled up from the ground, coughing up blood as they got to their feet.Â
No time to worry about anything else, everyone pulled out their trump cards, desperate to stop the zombie tiger’s fierce onslaught.Â
The zombie tiger was right in front of them, its monstrous head bearing down like a mountain.Â
Chloe could smell the rank stench pouring out of its jaws.Â
There was no time to run. Chloe slipped straight into her spiritual space, and in the next instant, a storm of ice spikes appeared behind the zombie tiger, raining down from above and aiming right for its ass.Â
She really had no other choice. All she could do was mimic how animals target each other’s vital spots.Â
In the wild, when hyenas ganged up on lions, that was exactly how they did it. It didn’t matter what skill one used, as long as it worked.Â
The ice spikes, each several feet long, pierced right into the zombie tiger, and its roar echoed through the sky.Â
The powered humans nearby instinctively squeezed their legs together, chills running down their spines.Â
‘Damn, she is hardcore, they thought. ‘Better not mess with her in the future.Â
The Blaze Squad members, who’d just been ready to tear someone apart, suddenly went stiff, jaws dropped, totally shell- shocked and not knowing how to react.Â
Frank rubbed his face awkwardly. “Uh, Chloe, you’re a legendÂ

Everyone was so miserable that they wanted to cry, but couldn’t. Suddenly, they felt just how weak they really were.Â
Seeing the zombie tiger lose its mind, the force from its wild roars was enough to make people spit blood.Â
For low–level powered humans, it could even mess up their insides.Â
Chloe didn’t hesitate. She bolted straight into the heart of the mist. She was already gone, but her voice still echoed in everyone’s ears. “See you in Lakeside!”Â
The zombie tiger was livid. It couldn’t believe that damn human just slipped away like that.Â
It didn’t even have time to attack the other powered humans nearby, just tore off into the mist after Chloe.Â
Everyone else was left behind, faces full of worry.Â
“Chloe,” Chiara and Filip called out in unison, voices full of grief.Â
“Come on, Chloe did this to keep us safe. Don’t go bringing any more trouble our way.” But Frank clapped his hands over their mouths.Â
Chiara struggled to hold back her tears. “Is Chloe going to be okay?”Â
Emily hugged her tightly, feeling her pain. “No worries, really. Chloe’s a sixth–level powered human, plus she’s got her spiritual space. As long as we’re not holding her back, escaping is no problem for her.”Â
Yeah, Chloe’s escape skills were legendary. Everyone had seen it firsthand.Â
With that reassurance, Chiara felt much more relieved.Â
Frank was the team’s vice–captain, and they’d agreed beforehand that if they ever got separated, he’d take over as leader.Â
He gritted his teeth. “Let’s go. We’re heading to Lakeside to meet up with Chloe.”Â
When they first came here, they’d already planned for every possible outcome and knew exactly what to do if things went south.Â
Luckily, before Chloe left, she’d pulled the Base Truck out of her spiritual space, so at least they had a vehicle to protect themselves now.Â
Chloe activated her speed power, gritting her teeth and sprinting forward with everything she had. But even then, the zombie tiger still managed to block her way.Â
She craned her neck, trying to see through the gap under the zombie tiger, and spotted chunks of rotten flesh dropping off its body.Â
She muttered, “Damn, this thing really is on the leaderboard in my previous life. How is it this damn fast?”Â
The zombie tiger’s eyes burned with fury, almost popping out of its skull. It bared two rows of bloody, meat–stained fangs. and its hind legs shook a little; those ice spikes really messed it upÂ
“This chick’s got to die! the zombie tiger raged inside.Â
The zombie tiger spewed out a thick cloud of mist from its mouth. Visibility, which was already down to about 15 feet.. dropped to barely 3 feet. Chloe couldn’t see a damn thing now.Â

In this soupy fog, Chloe was completely blind, but the zombie tiger could zero in on her instantly.Â
“Heh, not bad, you’ve got some skills. Too bad you’re up against me,” Chloe said, her tone full of swagger.Â
The whole earth started shaking.Â
The zombie tiger let out a crazed roar, an ice sword blasted from its mouth, and with a swipe of its paw, it whipped up a storm, about to slap Chloe into oblivion.Â
Chloe disappeared in an instant. Of course, she dove right back into her spiritual space.Â
After so long in the apocalypse, her spiritual space had leveled up. Now she could stay inside for days and nights, no problem at all.Â
Inside her spiritual space, she had about one acre of fertile land, all planted with fruits and veggies. Chloe grabbed a cucumber, wiped it on her clothes, and took a big, crunchy bite.Â
“Mm, this is so good,” Chloe said, enjoying the flavor.Â
As she snacked, she wandered around her spiritual space, checking out all the stuff she’d hoarded since the apocalypse. The more she looked, the more excited she got.Â
Time passed in a blur.Â
Out in the mist, the zombie tiger suddenly realized its prey was gone. Its eyes narrowed, and for a split second, it looked totally lost.Â
Then it unleashed another earth–shaking roar.Â
It was about to lose its mind with rage.Â
Ever since it turned into a zombie tiger, no prey had ever gotten away from it.Â
‘Damn food, you actually dared to run?‘ the zombie tiger fumed inside.Â
So pissed it lost control, the zombie tiger started throwing a fit, stomping and jumping like crazy, making the ground shake with every move.Â
Stuck in the mist, the powered humans looked around in terror, totally on edge.Â
“What’s going on?” someone blurted out.Â
“Did you guys hear that?” another whispered.Â
“Is this an earthquake?” someone else asked, panic creeping into their voice.Â
Someone gasped, “The mist’s getting thicker, we can barely see anything now!”Â
With the mist closing in, everyone was losing their minds. Some were swearing up a storm, others just totally broke down and cried their eyes out.Â
The fog felt like some massive monster, always clutching at their throats, never letting go.Â
No one had a clue what kind of freak would pop out next, or what nightmare was lurking in the mist,Â
