“That’s more like it. As long as you stick by Mr. Fletcher and do your job, you’ll always have a spot here,” Kasen said. 

“Yes,” Harvey replied. 

He acted all obedient on the outside, but deep down, he was so pissed he could’ve cracked his teeth. 

Seeing Harvey behave and having put him in his place, Kasen looked satisfied and trailed after Noah. 

Meanwhile, all the major bases started streaming in one after another. Each base represented a different faction, and their teams were out in force, hoisting their banners high for everyone to see. 

The powered humans who’d arrived earlier backed off, keeping a low profile as they slipped to the sidelines. 

“Dad.” Jaliyah immediately spotted the Linville family’s banner and ran straight over. 

Unable to hold back her frustration, she buried herself in Jaiden’s arms and sobbed quietly. 

Jaiden had a chiseled jawline, thick, short brows, and a rough, rugged appearance. 

Seeing his daughter so upset, he shot a mock glare at Ishaan, who was standing behind them, pretending to be angry. 

“What’s going on? Did you bully your sister?” he asked. 

Jaliyah pulled away from his arms, still pouting and sniffling, her face full of grievance. 

“Ishaan didn’t bully me,” Jaliyah protested softly. 

Jaiden boomed, “Oh? Who’s got the nerve to mess with the Linville family’s little princess?” 

He glared at the crowd, and the powered humans hurriedly backed off. 

Jaliyah stomped her foot. “It’s that girl again! She bullied me back in Riverside, and now she’s out here acting like she’s the Linville family’s heiress, scamming people and trashing my reputation. She’s seriously the worst!” 

Seeing this, Jacob hurried forward, bowed, and whispered something in Jaiden’s ear. Jaiden’s gaze turned grim. 

“Is what she said true?” Jaiden asked. 

Jacob replied respectfully, “Every word is true.” 

Jaiden burst out laughing, tapping Jaliyah on the forehead with a doting smile. “Even jealous of your brother’s side chick, 

huh?” 

“We’re all family, Once she joins us and takes the Linville name, she’ll have to do whatever you say,” he added. 

Jaliyah pouted, clearly unhappy. “I don’t agree! She’s not even good enough to be my brother’s mistress. She’d be better off 

as my maid.” 

Jaiden chuckled, his eyes full of affection. “Alright, alright. Once that girl’s in the family, you can go talk to your brother and see if he’ll let you mess with her for a few days.” 

Jaliyah looked at Ishaan and teased, “You won’t mind lending her to me, right?”

Ishaan grinned, “If it makes you happy, that’s all I care about.” 

Jaiden laughed, “See? Ishaan always spoils you the most.”

Jaiden glanced around, looking annoyed. “You ran off this time just to look for Noah, didn’t you? So, did you find him?” 

Jaliyah shook her head. “No.” 

“Good. Noah’s the one really in charge at Ebony Base, and he’s got a bright future ahead of him. So don’t even think about breaking off the engagement,” Jaiden said firmly. 

“Dad,” Jaliyah whined, clearly unhappy. 

“I don’t want to marry some man I’ve never even met! No way!” she grumbled. 

Jaiden’s gentle smile disappeared, his gaze turning icy. His voice was cold and hard. 

“Jaliyah, stop acting out,” he said, his tone stern. 

Feeling her father’s displeasure, Jaliyah immediately lowered her head. 

Even though she was spoiled and willful, she’d always known that the main reason her family pampered her was that she was Noah’s fiancée. 

“Just remember, there are plenty of girls in the Linville family. Whoever ends up marrying Noah gets to be the heiress,” Jaiden said. 

If not, she would just be forgotten. 

In a big family like this, it was always about power and interests. Any hint of real warmth was pretty rare. 

Jaliyah had been spoiled and treated like royalty since she was a kid–not just because she was Jaiden’s daughter, but mostly because nobody wanted to mess with the future lady of the Fletcher family. 

Seeing Jaliyah calm down, Jaiden gently patted her head. 

“Good girl. The Linville family will always have your back, and Noah’s never gonna bully you,” he said softly. 

“Got it,” Jaliyah replied. 

After that, more major bases made their entrance, each team hoisting their banners high for everyone to see. 

The leaders from each base greeted each other with a few polite words, appearing friendly and relaxed. 

But behind them, the powered humans stood in strict formation, not a single smile among them. 

Just as Chloe turned around with Gavin and Phantom Zombie, a group of burly guys blocked their path. 

Each of them was bare–chested in baggy shorts, showing off their muscular builds, and giving Phantom Zombie lustful 

stares. 

One of them snickered at her. 

“Hey there, cutie, why are you all by yourself? It’s pretty dangerous out here. Don’t you want a big brother to protect you?” he said, his voice dripping with sleaze.

Chapter 264 

Two of the big guys just pushed Chloe and Gavin out of the way. 

Chloe and Gavin could only stare speechlessly. 

‘Alone?‘ Chloe and Gavin both thought, totally dumbfounded. ‘Seriously, are you blind? What, are we invisible or something? 

Chloe cast a nonchalant glance at the backs of the two big guys, then turned and walked away. 

Gavin hurried after her, sounding anxious. “Chloe, are we really just gonna leave her? Shouldn’t we help her out?” 

Chloe suddenly stopped. “You wanna save those thugs?” 

Gavin looked at her, exasperated. “What thugs? I mean her–Phantom Zombie.” 

Chloe let out a soft laugh. “If you’ve got time to worry about that, maybe focus on getting out of here faster.” 

Once Gavin transformed into a big golden dog, he took off like a shot. Chloe, using her wind powers, was even faster, zipping past everyone like a gust of wind. 

They left the whole crowd in the dust in no time. 

About ten seconds later, Gavin was still worried, wondering if he should try to convince Chloe to help Phantom Zombie. 

“Chloe, she’s just a girl-” Gavin started. 

But his words died in his throat. His eyes went wide as saucers, disbelief written all over his face. 

Right beside him, a graceful figure had appeared, her big, expressionless eyes staring at him in confusion. 

It was Phantom Zombie. 

Gavin jumped in shock and let out a startled, “Woof, woof, woof!” 

Whenever he got excited or freaked out, he’d instinctively bark like a real dog. 

He skidded to a stop, and as a big golden dog, nearly launched himself forward. “Dang, you’re awesome! How’d you manage to escape so fast?” 

Phantom Zombie didn’t reply. She just kept staring at him, licking her lips unconsciously, until Chloe smacked her gently on the head. 

“He’s one of us, no eating,” Chloe reminded her. 

Phantom Zombie’s dark eyes flickered, and she drooped her head, looking a bit disappointed. 

Gavin nearly peed himself when he heard that 

“Eat?” Gavin squeaked, his voice shaky. 

“Yeah, don’t worry. As long as you don’t mess with her, she won’t try to eat you. Chloe said 

Gavin dumbly pointed behind him, still in shock 

“So, those guys who blocked us carlier…” he stammered.

“They’re probably just dried husks by now,” Chloe replied.

cores. 

Humans had cores too, embedded right next to their hearts. 

So this time, she moved fast–sank her teeth into the guy’s neck to drain his blood, while her other hand drove straight into his chest by the heart and ripped out the core. 

Blood was still smeared under her right fingernails. 

She showed off four cores to Chloe, each one sparkling in the sunlight. 

Gavin gawked, amazed. “Turns out humans have cores too, just like zombies!”
