Chapter 325Â
Just as Chloe finished stashing everything in her spiritual space, she suddenly shifted her sitting position. Itzel instinctively shrank back, his neck tensing up. He half–expected some giant sword to appear out of thin air and take him out.Â
Grim jumped too, his legs turning to jelly. He was about to plead for his life, only to realize Chloe had just changed how she was sitting.Â
He let out a long, relieved sigh.Â
‘Narrow eyes were right, Chloe didn’t even care about those three Pterosaur heads, he thought.Â
That put both of them at ease.Â
Itzel got a bit bolder, confidently stashing all three Pterosaur heads in his spiritual space, a satisfied grin spreading across his face.Â
They’d been living off compressed biscuits for ages, no real meat anywhere.Â
Priscilla glanced at the blood pooling on the ground, her face full of regret.Â
“If only we could collect this blood,” she muttered.Â
‘Blood? What’s the point of that?” Itzel asked, confused.Â
‘Once it coagulates, you can actually make something tasty out of it,” Priscilla replied.Â
As soon as food was mentioned, Itzel perked up, and he was much less afraid of Chloe now.Â
He clung to Priscilla’s arm, acting all cute and needy.Â
‘Priscilla, aren’t you a five–star chef? I haven’t had any real meat in forever,” Itzel pouted.Â
Priscilla was getting dizzy from all the shaking. She poked Itzel on the forehead and shook her head helplessly.Â
“You’re such a foodie,” she said.Â
Just thinking about all the delicious food, Priscilla couldn’t help but smack her lips.Â
She sighed, “Water’s so scarce right now, it’s tough to handle. Once we get to a base and trade for some drinking water, I’ll whip up blutwurst soup for you guys.”Â
Chloe’s eyes shot open, sharp and alert.Â
With a casual wave of her right hand, a huge wooden barrel materialized right next to Priscilla.Â
The barrel was massive, standing about 16 feet tall and 6 feet wide, with a faucet set about 3 feet off the ground.Â
The sudden appearance of the barrel startled Priscilla.Â
Chloe slowly opened her eyes. “Is this enough water?”Â
Priscilla’s eyes nearly popped out of her head as she jumped to her feet. “Chloe, are you saying… this whole thing is water?”Â
Chloe just stared at her in silence, making Priscilla’s skin crawl a little.Â

“More than enough! Absolutely!” Priscilla was practically bouncing with excitement.Â
Priscilla hustled everyone to get the fire going and start prepping the food.Â
Chloe looked around, frowning. The smell of blood here was just way too much.Â
“Let’s cook somewhere else,” she said.Â
“Okay, okay!” Priscilla replied quickly.Â
55 VOUCHITSÂ
The blood reek was so strong, it not only ruined everyone’s appetite but could also bring a whole lot of trouble their way.Â
Grim hustled over with the car, grinning and bowing, acting all eager to please.Â
“Boss, do you want the front seat or the back?” he asked.Â
Chloe shot the car an indifferent look.Â
“Just drive. I’ll follow along,” she said.Â
That’s when they remembered that Chloe was a wind user, and her speed was off the charts.Â
As the car pulled away, Chloe lingered for a bit, waiting in place.Â
The area echoed with zombie howls all around.Â
From the sound of it, it was just zombies; no mutant beasts showed up.Â
Even the sky was clear, not a single Pterosaur to be seen.Â
Chloe shrugged, disappointed, pulled her Base Truck out of her spiritual space, and drove off.Â
Her wind powers could make her run insanely fast, but every time she used them, it drained her energy.Â
After using her abilities nonstop these past few days, the points in her spiritual space were plummeting, and honestly, it made her heart ache.Â
Once they left the city and hit the highway, the road was still clogged with abandoned vehicles.Â
Only now, things had changed.Â
The people who’d once tried to escape were nothing but heaps of bleached bones.Â
The asphalt was cracked and full of potholes, and even the scraggly weeds poking through the gaps had withered under the blazing sun.Â
Cars of every shape and size littered the road, some crushed together, some flattened, others with their front ends smashed to pieces.Â
The place was nothing but ruins, utterly wrecked from top to bottom.Â
Cars were covered in rust, windows shattered everywhere, and roofs dented and warped from heavy impacts.Â
It was probably that brutal hailstorm that was to blame for all this destruction.Â
Chloe checked every car, but all she found inside were piles of rotten corpses, so messed up you couldn’t even tell who theyÂ

used to be, and the smell was enough to make anyone gag.Â
30 vouchereÂ
She didn’t even feel like scavenging anything from the wrecks. “Phantom, which way did those people head off to?” she asked.Â
Phantom Zombie emerged from the spiritual space and pointed to the right.Â
Chloe packed the car into her spiritual space and headed out on foot after them.Â
The group trudged along, fighting off nausea as they dug through every wreck, hoping to score something useful.Â
But instead of finding anything, they stumbled right into a bunch of zombies chowing down on rotten meat.Â
A bloody showdown was bound to happen.Â
After finally breaking free, they saw the sun was already dipping toward the horizon.Â
“Crap, the sun’s about to set. We can’t spend the night on this highway,” Grim muttered.Â
Forget the constant stench; what really mattered was the swarm of zombies roaming everywhere.Â
“So what are we supposed to do?” Itzel asked.Â
Everyone glanced over at Grim, waiting for his answer.Â
Grim paused, thinking it over. “We should get off the highway.”Â
On either side of the highway were fields, but now all that remained was dry, dusty earth, no crops, just barren land.Â
Before long, the group hopped off the highway and put some distance between themselves and that place.Â
“Narrow eyes, do you think Chloe will catch up to us?” Itzel asked.Â
Itzel turned to look behind them, but saw nothing, just an empty road.Â
‘How would I know what Chloe’s thinking?” the man with narrow eyes shrugged.Â
Chloe didn’t spot a single usable vehicle along the way; every one was wrecked beyond repair.Â
She was seriously relieved she’d hoarded a bunch of vehicles before that brutal hailstorm hit. If she hadn’t, she’d be in real trouble now.Â
In the future world, vehicles will hardly be needed.Â
The highways were ruined from years of neglect and all those disasters, so regular vehicles couldn’t even get through anymore.Â
The main reason Chloe collected vehicles was to use them at Blaze Haven.Â
Grovenwich was massive, and once they fixed up the roads and had Frank customize the vehicles, they’d be perfect for hauling food around.Â
Chloe hesitated, eyeing the battered cars with a conflicted look.Â
“There’s probably still some gas in there, and maybe the engines could still be salvaged, she thought.Â

Not wanting to waste anything, she stashed a few cars without rotting corpses in her spiritual space.Â
As for the ones with decaying bodies inside, she just shook her head in disgust.Â
Night was falling, and Chloe was worn out. She headed into her spiritual space with Phantom Zombic.Â
Be vouchersÂ
Phantom Zombie immediately lunged at one of the Pterosaur corpses and went to town gnawing on it, totally thrilled.Â
Chloe ate half a watermelon, but her stomach was still growling. So she grabbed a self–heating seafood boil and dug in hungrily.Â
Suddenly, Chloe remembered that Priscilla from the group was a five–star chef, and she could make that blutwurst soup everyone was drooling over.Â
Just thinking about it, Chloe started craving hard.Â
Chloe couldn’t cook to save her life, and Emily could barely make anything edible; everyone else was even worse.Â
Back at the base, pretty much nobody ever touched a frying pan before the apocalypse. Now, they just managed to not poison themselves, nothing fancy.Â
Linda and Joan could throw together a decent meal, but they were always slammed, and let’s be real, they couldn’t hold a candle to Priscilla.Â
“Ugh, I can’t take it anymore, I want blutwurst soup, beef stew, and a whole feast!” Chloe said.Â
Before the apocalypse hit, Chloe had squirreled away a few fancy gourmet meals, real Michelin–level stuff. But she just couldn’t bear to touch them, always saving them for some special occasion that never came, she thought.Â
Chloe sprang to her feet, and in the blink of an eye, she appeared right on the highway.Â
“Phantom, track them down for me,” Chloe commanded.Â
Phantom Zombie reluctantly put down his snack, pointed ahead, and headed out with Chloe hot on his heels.Â
