The Day Love Betrayed Me and Never the Plan 71

Chapter 71

In the face of absolute power, the weak couldn’t even muster the will to resist.

Chloe gave a bitter smile and forced out a few words through gritted teeth.

Go ahead, try turning around, she said.

Frank’s courage instantly vanished. If he turned around now, he’d be the first one the tiger made its victim.

Emily’s face went stiff with fear. She said, What do we do? My legs are turning to jelly.”

Chloe braced herself, seeing no other option. She said, There’s nothing else for it; we’ll have to fight.”

Frank stared wideeyed at the mutant tiger, its mouth bigger than a person, and couldn’t help but shed a bitter tear.

I’m still single. I don’t wanna die,he whimpered.

Watching a tough guy like him break down in tears, now that was a sight.

Chloe’s lips twitched in exasperation.

Time ticked by as the three powered humans stood together, locked in a staredown with the mutant tiger.

It was obvious now that the beast had become sentient. As a thirdtier mutant beast, it could sense just how strong its

opponent was.

Chloe didn’t move, and the tiger didn’t dare to make the first move either. They just stared each other down, both on high alert.

Frank and Emily were completely ignored by the tiger.

Chloe kept her brows furrowed, her stare cold and unyielding. If you just looked at their stats, they seemed evenly matched, but the mutant tiger’s presence was on a whole different level.

It was like a wild tiger going up against a regular human back in the old world; it wasn’t even a contest.

Across the river, the sounds of fighting echoed nonstop, but on this side, it was weirdly silent. The only thing you could hear was their heavy breathing, growing louder by the second.

Finally, the tiger lost its patience. With a powerful leap, it pounced straight at Chloe.

In a flash, Chloe moved like the wind. One moment she was there, the next she vanished, only to reappear right where the mutant tiger had been standing just a second ago.

The tiger let out a guttural roar.

It whipped around, eyes wide and blazing with both fury and disbelief.

Ever since I mutated, I’ve never met anyone who could escape nie,the tiger thought, stunned. How did this foolish human dodge my claws?‘

Then the tiger’s gaze swept over to Frank and Emily, who were attempting a sneak attack.

The tiger let out a deafening roar.

The sound was so loud it nearly burst their eardrums. With a single swipe of its paw, the tiger swatted Frank, who stood a towering 30 feet tall, clean off his feet and sent him flying.

Chapter 71

Frank soared through the air like a kite with its string cut, heading straight for the moat. Blood gushed from his mouth, tracing a gruesome arc through the sky.

The gianttoothed fish in the river seemed to sense a fresh meal approaching. They flapped their transparent wings, leaping even higher out of the water.

In the nick of time, a vine shot out from the far side of the river, wrapped itself around Frank, and dragged him over to the other bank.

He crashed hard onto the ground, and zombies rushed in, fighting over him like fresh meat.

Luckily, Frank was tough as nails; none of those regular zombies could break through his defenses.

Chloe couldn’t believe her eyes.

She never expected Frank, a secondlevel powered human, to be so powerless against a thirdtier mutant tiger.

Emily, drive over and help Frank,” Chloe called out.

But what about you?Emily stammered.

Go. Staying here will just slow me down,Chloe snapped.

Emily gritted her teeth, jumped behind the wheel, spun the car around, and floored it back the way they’d come.

The mutant tiger could flatten the car with a single swipe, but regular zombies couldn’t even scratch its armor.

Chloe glanced around and realized that on the west bank of the river, it was just her and the mutant tiger left.

She twisted her arms and legs, cracking her joints with a sharp, crisp sound in the heavy silence.

After surviving more than ten years in the apocalypse, her hands were stained with blood from countless battles. Now, her aura radiated pure death and violence.

The mutant tiger didn’t show a hint of fear; in fact, it looked even more excited.

With a deafening roar, it lunged at her again. Standing 30 feet tall, it was like a mountain bearing down, but it moved with surprising speed and agility, no hesitation at all.

It moved so fast that in the blink of an eye, it was right in front of Chloe. It brought its paw down from above, and the concrete floor instantly caved in half an inch. Carefully, it opened its paw, but there was nothing there.

The tiger let out a furious snarl.

It whipped its head around, sniffing wildly for any sign of Chloe, but found nothing. It was like Chloe had just disappeared into thin air.

Missing twice in a row made the tiger more and more agitated, letting out furious roars.

Suddenly, a tornado whipped up out of nowhere, sucking in sand and gravel, grinding the debris to bits as it whirled around the tiger’s body.

The massive pull made the mutant tiger lose its footing, forcing its eyes shut. It let out a furious roar, even more pissed off than before.

Out of the blue, its nose picked up Chloe’s scent right in front of it. Going purely on instinct, it lunged with its jaws wide open, aiming to devour her.

But Chloe had already stepped back, and in a flash, she was dozens of yards away.

Chapter 71

Its gaping maw was suddenly stuffed with a giant chunk of ice, making its whole mouth feel like it was about to explo Even with all its jaw strength, it couldn’t do a thing to that ice.

The mutant tiger went completely berserk, charging forward as the tornado above kept spinning, always locked onto it.

The tornado moved wherever the mutant tiger did, never letting up.

With its mouth jammed full and its eyes blinded by sand, the tiger barely managed to open its eyes a crack, only to see a swarm of ice blades suddenly appear inside the tornado, slicing straight for that tiny gap.

The tiger let out a deafening roar. It went totally mad, rolling on the ground from the burning pain, its eyes destroyed.

Driven by pain, the tiger bit down even harder, finally crushing the ice block in its mouth. Then, using Chloe’s scent as a guide, it charged straight at her last known position.

But once again, Chloe had vanished into thin air. Just a second later, Chloe popped out of her spiritual space, appearing right behind the mutant tiger.

With a swift motion, she summoned a dozen ice blades, each six feet long, and stabbed them right up the tiger’s ass.

And before the tiger’s roar could shatter her eardrums, she disappeared again. Inside her spiritual space, Chloe doubled over, struggling to catch her breath, her eyes still haunted by fear.

That mutant tiger was insanely strong. Getting close was basically suicide. She had to stick to ranged attacks.

Chloe wolfed down an egg to recharge, then popped out of her spiritual space again.

This time, she was holding a sniper rifle, one she’d snatched from those six powered humans who used to serve Gary.

She aimed right at the mutant tiger’s forehead, just as it caught her scent, and fired. Whether she hit or missed, she was already back in her spiritual space before the tiger could even react.

Chloe could clearly see blood streaming from the mutant tiger’s body; those icy blades must’ve really messed it up.

Chloe thought, Its nose is freakishly sharp.

Wait, I’ve got it.‘

A minute later, she popped back out, suddenly holding a bag of freshly ground chili powder.

Guess you’re the lucky winner; this is all I’ve got, and it’s all yours,” Chloe said with a sly grin.

She waved her hand, summoning a mini tornado that swept the chili powder straight into the swirling storm around the mutant tiger.

Achoo!Chloe pulled out a wet wipe and wiped her hands, but the spicy powder hit her so hard she couldn’t help but

sneeze.

Achoo! Damn, this stuff is insanely spicy, she complained.

Even just breathing made her throat feel like it was on fire.

She kept her eyes locked on the mutant tiger, watching as its face twisted in pain, sneezing over and over.

It rampaged in place, smashing everything it ran into out of pure frustration. Its furious roars echoed nonstop,

The noise made Chloe’s cars throb, so she stuffed a pair of headphones in to block it out.

The moment the mutant tiger opened its mouth, Chloe seized the opportunity and shoved another huge block of ice inside.
