Caught red–handed, Peyton’s face turned ghostly pale, and he could only force an awkward smile.Â
“Frank, you’re still up? Perfect timing. I actually need to talk to you about something,” Peyton stammered.Â
“Cut the crap,” Frank said coldly.Â
“Well, my wife’s about to give birth. Do you think you could” Peyton started.Â
“No,” Frank cut him off without hesitation.Â
Frank shut him down so fast that Peyton didn’t even get a chance to finish his sentence.Â
“Out of respect for our years as neighbors, I’ll let you live this time. But if you ever pull this again, you’ll pay with your life,” Frank said coldly.Â
Frank’s voice was icy, and he still had no idea what Peyton and Nina had done to Joan.Â
If he had, Peyton would already be dead.Â
Still, Frank chopped off one of Peyton’s pinkies as a warning.Â
As soon as Frank got in the car, Molly pounced on him, her big eyes blinking adorably.Â
“Dad, was I right or not?” she asked, looking up at him expectantly.Â
Frank playfully rubbed her nose, his tone turning gentle.Â
“My Molly is incredible. You can actually predict danger,” he said.Â
Chloe smiled and added, “From now on, Molly’s going to be the backbone of our team. We’ll be counting on you to keep us all safe, Molly.”Â
Molly’s face turned bright red from all the praise, and she shyly burrowed into her blanket.Â
At the same time, she secretly promised herself to work even harder from now on, just so Chloe would really notice her. ‘I’ll show her!‘ Molly thought.Â
She was desperate to prove herself and become a real part of the team, worried Chloe might think less of her. After all, her mom, little brother, and Liana needed a lot of food, and they weren’t really pulling their weight.Â
It was all on her dad to keep things going, and she knew that could lead to problems down the line.Â
Little did Molly know, Chloe was also working hard to get Molly on her side.Â
Having someone who could predict the future and warn about danger was like having the team’s secretÂ
weapon.Â
Dragging along three extra mouths to feed? For Chloe, that was no big deal.Â

After that, Emily and Chloe took turns keeping watch. Mindy had been locked in a battle with the mutant willow branches for days, determined to make it submit to her.Â
Frank had been doing all the heavy lifting all day, so he really needed to rest.Â
“I’m not tired,” Frank insisted.Â
He looked completely wiped out, but he stubbornly kept his eyes open.Â
Chloe sighed. “Frank, you really don’t have to take it all on yourself. We’re a team, and your family is our family, too.”Â
Frank spent the whole day handling everything by himself, never letting anyone elseÂ
He even took care of the cleaning.Â
Chloe knew that with his wife, kid, and Liana in tow, it was like he was carrying extra baggage.Â
That’s why Frank was busting his ass nonstop, always the first to jump into any fight.Â
‘Frank’s got his head on straight, Chloe thought.Â
Emily chimed in, “Your wife’s part of the family now, so don’t worry about it. Plus, Molly’s a total badass.”Â
“Yeah, it’s just a few extra mouths to feed. Chloe can easily handle it,” Mindy added.Â
After she said that, Mindy suddenly looked a little sheepish and shot Chloe a guilty glance.Â
Chloe couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, we can easily handle it. Even if we had eight or ten more, we’d still manage just fine.”Â
Emily blinked in confusion and craned her neck. “Chloe, isn’t your spiritual space only the size of a basketball court?”Â
Then she covered her mouth, fake–crying. “Chloe, you’re so good to us. You barely have enough for yourself, but you still take care of all of us.”Â
Frank felt touched, too.Â
He made up his mind to work even harder.Â
Chloe didn’t bother correcting them about the mix–up.Â
“By the way, a lot of the plants, insects, and animals outside have mutated. The meat from mutant beasts is edible, but it tastes terrible.Â
“We should start collecting these things, even if we don’t eat them ourselves. We can always trade them with the base for other stuff.” Chloe said.Â
Everyone nodded in agreement.Â

“Oh, and by the way, my powers are now maxed out at Level 2. I’m ready to give our RV a full upgrade,” Frank announced.Â
Chloe’s eyes lit up. “How long do you need?”Â
Frank held up two fingers. “Just give me two days.”Â

“Awesome, Frank. Take the night off, and tomorrow we’ll put you to work,” Chloe said.Â
Frank nodded, pumped and ready to go.Â
With so many freeloaders in his family, Frank felt like he had to bust his ass even mo guilt.Â

For the next three days, the survivors on the second floor didn’t cause any more trouble.Â
Joan, her kid, and Liana stayed inside the RV the whole time, while Frank kept busy upgrading the RV’s materials with his metal powers.Â
Mindy kept watch over the RV, all while trying to tame the mutant willow branches that had gained sentience.Â
And what about Chloe?Â
She was out there with Emily and Molly, tearing up the streets!Â
With two future legends by her side, Chloe was totally in her element, slicing through the zombie hordes like it was nothing.Â
Just having spirit and leveling up her powers wasn’t enough. She had to get out there, fight, and really toughen up her resolve.Â
Before long, they’d fought their way to the back of the zombie horde.Â
Staring up at the towering zombie that was easily 30 feet tall, the three girls couldn’t help but gulp.Â
“Chloe, maybe we should just run?” Emily suggested.Â
“Chloe, that’s a Level 2 spirit–powered zombie,” Molly said, her voice steady.Â
Chloe turned to her. “Molly, what do you think my chances are if I fight it?”Â
Molly closed her eyes, thinking hard. Then she said, “You’ll win, but it’ll be a brutal fight.”Â
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s run!” Chloe yelled.Â
But the moment they turned to run, a stabbing pain shot through their heads.Â
“Shit, it’s a spirit attack! Let’s wreck this thing!” Emily shouted.Â

Emily, now at the peak of Level 1, stared at the massive spirit–powered zombie, her eyes burning with excitement and a savage glint.Â
Big risks, big rewards.Â
Just then, Molly caught something off and exclaimed, “Hey, this zombie’s already wounded!”Â
Chloe and Emily shot each other a quick look. “Molly, hang back. Don’t let any blood get on you,” Chloe warned.Â
Molly nodded, hunkering down at the top of the stairs as Chloe shoved a crossbow and a backpack into her hands.Â
The backpack was loaded with grenades.Â
Once they made sure Molly was out of harm’s way, Chloe and Emily rushed right at the spirit–powered zombie.Â
Molly dug out a pair of binoculars and a walkie–talkie from her backpack, scanning the area and giving a play- by–play over the radio.Â
“Emily, skip the spirit attacks. Go long–range! Chloe, aim for its back! Yes, that’s perfect!” Molly called out.Â
Seconds dragged by until Molly had found the zombie’s weak spot.Â
She shouted into the walkie–talkie, “Chloe, its temple! That’s the weakest spot!”Â
“Got it,” Chloe smiled.Â
Just like that, a powerful spirit–powered zombie had its weak spot revealed by a seemingly helpless prophet who turned out to be the team’s secret weapon..Â
Just then, Molly’s voice shot up in alarm. “Something’s wrong! It’s getting hard to breathe! Danger’s coming. Finish this quick!”Â
As soon as she said that, Emily’s face went pale. “Chloe, I can feel a ton of zombies heading our way!”Â
Chloe’s eyes narrowed. She realized the spirit–powered zombie, knowing it couldn’t win, was summoning the horde.Â
Gritting her teeth, Chloe darted into her spiritual space, and when she emerged, she appeared high in the air.Â
She launched her ice sword, sending it piercing straight through the zombie’s temple.Â
