Then on her way to wipe her tears, she saw that the people around her didn’t react to her words, so she had to try one last thing.

She coughed violently, her face turning red and her breathing rapid.
Everyone around her tensed up, remembering her lung cancer.
Mom rushed to her side, cradling her in her arms. Dad and Rowan surrounded her, their faces etched with worry. Even the annoyance that had flickered on Houston’s face vanished, replaced by concern.
I looked at them and felt a little guilty. I don’t know if I should feel sorry for them or applaud Jocelyn’s acting.
Finally, Jocelyn’s coughing subsided, and everyone calmed down. Their fleeting dissatisfaction with her disappeared.
Dad and Mom helped Jocelyn to the sofa, followed closely by Houston and Rowan. They were about to

leave, seemingly forgetting the purpose of their visit.
Rowan looked back and saw the medicine bottles on
the bedside table.
He stopped and picked up the pill bottles. He saw that they were for asthma. He called the maid and asked if I had asthma.
The maid had been working here for several years before I came. She saw my difficult situation and tried to help me.
The maid said, “The old housewife said Lady Vivian had fallen into the river when she was young and got lung infections. She told us to buy medicine for Lady Vivian and put it in a visible place.‘
Rowan thought about how I had fallen into the water as a child. Why did she fall in?
He suddenly wanted to know why.
He asked, ‘Why did she fall into the water?‘
The maid thought for a while and answered, “The old lady said Lady Vivian saw someone fall into the water when she was a child. She went down to save them,

but her strength was small. After she managed to get them to safety, she didn’t have the strength to climb back up. Luckily, an adult arrived just in time and pulled her out.‘
ked
Rowan was shocked when he heard this. He didn’t know this had happened to me.
He remembered going back to his hometown with his family when he was a child. Houston also had to go back to see his grandmother, so he went with them.
This was the first time he met me. When he got out of the car, a girl called out to him as brother.
Their hometown was surrounded by mountains and rivers. He and Houston were bored playing in the water. Jocelyn was on the bank looking at their clothes. He thought for a moment. Where was Vivian? Jocelyn didn’t like to be with her.
Just as they were having fun, Houston got a cramp in his foot. He pulled him to the side, but ended up being pulled down by Houston.
Just as they were about to die, someone pulled them back to life. He tried to get back to the shore and

pulled Houston up with him. He fainted because he was exhausted.
When he fainted, he saw someone that looked like Jocelyn’s come out of the water. He thought Jocelyn saved him.
He asked, ‘Who was she saving?‘

The maid looked puzzled and said, ‘Isn’t it you and the Houston that she saved?‘
Hearing this, Rowan felt his body shake and his mind go blank.
If it was him and Houston that I saved, why was he cold towards me all these years?
A manrushed into the room, his usually stoic face now etched with panic. He grabbed the maid’s shoulders, his voice laced with desperation, “Are you sure? Was it really her? Not Jocelyn?“.
It was Houston. So, he hadn’t gone down with them.
Watching him lose his composure like this, so different from the usual coldness he reserved for me, I couldn’t help but find it amusing. So,this is why Houston said

he owed Jocelyn for saving his life.
The maid was scared but nodded.

I looked at them, and they seemed lost. I felt pain, but also learned that Houston owed Jocelyn for saving him as a child. He felt guilty, and didn’t appreciate her efforts to please him.
Houston and Rowan went downstairs together, looking confused. The three people downstairs, now seemingly reconciled and enjoying each other’s company, looked at them in confusion.
‘What’s wrong? We owe Vivian a lot. Pay it. I’ve contacted the company. I’ll go with your ‘mum and Jocelyn to pick her up and bring her back.‘ Mr.Rowan said with a smile, unlike before.
I listened to their plan, but it made me feel ridiculous. I’m dead, but they don’t believe it.
Rowan walked over to the sofa and asked Jocelyn, ‘You knew it was Vivian. Why deny it? Why take the credit?‘
Jocelyn was shocked by Rowan’s tone. She was speechless. ‘What’s wrong with you? What did she do?

Rowan continued, ‘When I was little, Houston and I
fell into the water. It was Vivian who saved us. Why did you recognise her credit?
Hearing Rowan’s words, Jocelyn’s face turned pale. She looked scared.
She turned to look at Houston.
Houston’s face was cold. His eyes were sharp and straight at Jocelyn.
He looked like he wanted to kill her. Jocelyn couldn’t take it and fainted. I looked at her, she was really fainted. Jocelyn was taken to hospital.
