Chapter 333 

FAYE 

Alexander and I stood outside the front of the packhouse, waiting. 

Well… I was waiting. 

Alexander was enduring it.

He didn’t need to say a word for me to know exactly what his mood was. His body language was enough. His arms were folded, his posture straight, and there was that particular stillness about him that only appeared when his patience was beginning to run thin. 

I had dragged him out here. 

Not literally, of course, but close enough. 

Just a few minutes earlier, Irene had called to say they were very close to the packhouse. The moment I heard that, I insisted we come outside to welcome them. Alexander had immediately questioned the 

necessity of it. 

“There’s no point waiting outside like that,” he had said. “They’ll arrive and come in. We’ll meet them inside. 

” 

And yes, that would have been perfectly reasonable. 

But I knew Irene. 

And Irene cared about these kinds of things… the details were important. 

She was the sort of person who liked to make moments feel complete. If she were the one expecting the arrival of a guest–especially one that involved bringing a mate home–she would absolutely make sure everything about the introduction felt special. 

So naturally, I wanted her to feel the same from us. 

Alexander, however, was not someone who cared much about ceremonial gestures. Irene already knew her brother well, but it wouldn’t stop her from feeling bad if we didn’t give her the kind of energy she liked. 

I glanced sideways at him. 

“Relax,” I said lightly. 

“I am relaxed,” he replied. 

I looked at him again. 

“You look like you’re calculating how long you’re willing to stand here before you walk back inside.”

“I still don’t see the point,” he said calmly. “They’ll arrive either way.” 

“Yes, they will,” I agreed. 

“And we would greet them inside.” 

“Yes.” 

“So-”

“But this is nicer.” I realized we were back to the same conversation, and we’d probably go another round 

before the guests actually arrived. 

Alexander looked at me. 

I simply smiled. 

He sighed quietly through his nose, though there was no real irritation behind it. More like resignation. 

“You know,” I added, “this matters to her.” 

That earned a small pause from him. 

Alexander loved his sister, even if he didn’t always express it in the same enthusiastic ways she did. 

He didn’t argue further. 

Still, I could tell he was very close to deciding he had entertained my idea long enough. 

And just as I saw that shift begin in his posture- 

The sound of a vehicle approaching reached us. 

I grinned immediately. 

“There,” I said, pointing lightly toward the driveway. “See? They’re here.” 

A car came into view along the road and turned toward the packhouse. 

Alexander glanced in that direction, then back at me. 

I lifted my chin slightly. 

“Good thing I made you stay!” 

He gave me a look that suggested he wasn’t about to admit that. 

The car rolled to a stop in front of the house. 

Before anyone even opened the door, I leaned closer to Alexander. 

“And try to loosen up a little,” I whispered. 

His eyebrow lifted. 

“You look like you’re about to interrogate someone.”

“I’m greeting them.”

“Yes,” I said. “But if you keep that expression, you might scare Irene’s mate away before he even says hello. 

That got a reaction. 

Alexander shook his head, a quiet breath leaving him that sounded suspiciously like the start of a laugh. 

“I’m not frightening anyone,” he said. 

“Just saying,” I replied. 

He didn’t respond to that, but the tension in his shoulders eased just a little. 

The driver’s door opened. 

Irene stepped out first. 

The moment she saw us standing there, her face lit up. 

“Faye!” she called out immediately. 

“Irene!” 

I walked toward her at the same time she moved toward me, and we met halfway between the car and the 

steps. 

She wrapped her arms around me in a quick hug like we’d been apart for years. 

“It’s good to see you,” she said. 

“You too,” I replied warmly. 

She pulled back with the same bright energy she always carried, then turned slightly toward Alexander. 

“Alex.” 

Her tone softened a little as she stepped forward to hug him as well. 

Alexander accepted the hug easily. 

It was brief, but genuine. 

“How was the trip?” he asked her. 

“Smooth,” she said. “No trouble at all.” 

The driver’s door opened then. 

Irene stepped aside slightly as a young man joined us. 

He walked over calmly, his posture relaxed and attentive as he approached the group. 

“This,” Irene said, turning toward him, “is Jeffrey.”

Jeffrey nodded respectfully. 

“And this,” she continued, gesturing toward us, “is my brother, Alpha Alexander, and his mate, Luna Faye.” 

Jeffrey greeted Alexander first. 

“Alpha,” he said respectfully. 

Alexander inclined his head slightly. 

“Jeffrey.” 

Then Jeffrey turned to me. 

“Luna,” he greeted with the same respectful tone. 

“Welcome,” I said with a smile. 

Alexander extended his hand then, and Jeffrey shook it firmly. 

There was nothing tense about the moment. Just a straightforward exchange between two men 

measuring each other in the quiet way wolves sometimes did. 

Jeffrey held himself confidently, but respectfully. It was impressive for someone meeting Alexander for 

the first time. 

Alexander seemed satisfied with that. 

“It’s good to meet you,” Alexander said. 

“You too,” Jeffrey replied. 

Irene glanced between them with a small smile, clearly pleased that everything was going smoothly. 

“Well,” I said after a moment, clapping my hands together lightly, “now that everyone has been properly introduced, we should probably go inside.” 

“That sounds like a good idea,” Irene agreed. 

Alexander and Jeffrey naturally began walking ahead toward the front steps. 

As they did, Irene suddenly slowed her pace beside me. 

Then she reached out and lightly grabbed my arm, pulling me back just a little. 

I raised an eyebrow. 

“What?” 

She leaned closer, lowering her voice to a playful whisper. 

“What did you bribe him with?” 

I blinked.

“What?”

“My brother,” she said, nodding toward Alexander’s back as he walked ahead with Jeffrey. “What did you promise him that made him agree to wait outside like this?” 

I laughed quietly. 

“I didn’t bribe him.” 

She looked extremely skeptical. 

“You’re telling me he agreed to this willingly?” 

“I insisted,” I corrected. 

“That still doesn’t explain why he stayed.” 

I shrugged. 

“Maybe he just wanted to be nice to his sister.” 

Irene snorted softly. 

“That sounds very unlikely.” 

I nudged her lightly with my elbow. 

“Don’t ruin the moment.” 

She grinned. 

“Fine. I’ll pretend he did it out of love.” 

We both laughed quietly as we followed the two men toward the front door.
