Entering the diner, January felt all eyes on them, and she immediately knew why when she caught sight of a table of men having lunch in the corner and Alice hovering over them.
“They’re definitely a couple men short,” Gulliver whispered in her ear.
“Baldy looks pissed. Think he knows?” Jacqueline whispered back. 2
“What’s to know? Nothing happened.” He made wide eyes at her, “want to see Baldy get angry?”
“Yes!” she didn’t hesitate.
“Kiss me.”
“What?”
“Kiss me.” He was serious. “He’s team Davis from what I’ve been reading this morning. He wants you to marry Davis and have little baby Davises running around.”

“I think I just threw up in my mouth,” Terrance commented as he pushed from behind them. “Never say such things again, Gulliver or I’ll take a gun from one your guards and shoot you
in the ass.”
“Sure thing, Dad,” Gulliver teased Terrance who flipped him off as he made his way to their table.
“He’s in a mood.” January commented.
“Pretty sure he wanted to stay home and bone his wife.” Gulliver grinned at her, “I get that. I know it’s what I want to do.”
“Gulliver,” she slapped his chest and then rose on tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his mouth surprising him. “Later. When Kaylee is fast asleep and hopefully not sleeping between us.”
“I swear, I will carry you to the other bed in the suite if for no other reason to have you alone.”
She giggled as he kissed her again, “silly man.

He cupped her cheeks and kissed her again, “I love you, wife. I spent too many nights alone. I will take advantage of every night I get to spend with you.”
“Mm.” she was slowly forgetting they were in a crowded room.

“Get a room,” the shove from behind made them both look to see Thisbe standing there. “I’m crashing your lunch buttholes. You owe me. Your kids were bed hogs. You’re buying,
Gulliver.”
“Yes Thisbe.”
“Also, Dad and Mom are landing today in Burlington. I told them I was here with you, so I didn’t need to pick them up.”
“Aw fuck, does Glenn know?” Gulliver was chasing his sister through the restaurant until he got to the table where she slid
into a seat.
“Hey!” January threw her hands up. “We were making out!”
“More pressing matters,” Gulliver looked around the table. “Did they say why they were coming ahead of schedule?”
“Grandfather told Mom Glenn found his one. Dad flipped out it’s a guy.” Thisbe looked at Enid, “hi. I’m Thisbe. We haven’t met.”
“Thisbe, this is Ernst’s mom, Enid. Enid, this is my sister Thisbe. She’s here to deliver the horrible news that my parents are on their way. My mother is a saint. My father is the devil. Opposites attract and all that.”
Analia sat down next to Enid and whispered, “there’s a whole 3/7

restaurant of federal agents.”
Enid agreed, “yes. It looks that way. I bet Digger will piss in their gravy.”
As the two women began chatting about the menu, Gulliver turned his attention back to Thisbe, frowning at his sister, “what time are they coming?”
“Flight is landing at three. Grandfather is going to pick them up with his team.”
“Yeah but Grandfather’s driver and bodyguard are working for Ziogas. I didn’t want him going with them. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet.”
“Are you kidding?” Thisbe was horrified. “You’re joking.”
“Nope.” He waved at Enid, “her grandfather has drinks with Ziogas once a week and he gave her intel. She shared.” He hissed at his sister. “You were supposed to stay behind with him, and I was hoping you would be there to deliver the news. You weren’t supposed to follow us here.”
“I was lonely. He was watching the news, and it was boring.”
“You said you were working from your room today.”
“I miss January.” Thisbe looked at her. “I was hoping I could 4/7

work in her shop with her today and draw some design inspiration from her, Please?”
“Yes. Of course,” January nodded,
“I’m going to need to get Glenn to go back to Burlington.” Gulliver was sending texts to his brother,
“Ford is still there, He was with Grandfather. He was doing some virtual calls with his clinic back in New York.”
Gulliver quickly sending messages.
“You could go back,” January whispered to him. “If your parents are coming.”
“We will go back this evening after Kaylee is done school and not a minute before. I am not leaving either of you alone without me. Until we figure out what Davis’s play is with the Ziogas family, you are not going to be left alone,” he hugged her tight and pressed a kiss to her temple. “Not for a single minute. Where you are, I am. You’re very important to me January and you are his target. More than your parents or Kaylee, he wants you.”
“Which makes no sense,” Thisbe commented, “because we both know Duchess is still hung up on a marital match and will want to kill her. If she’s dead, Davis can’t have her.”

“Unless Duchess is lying and saying she only wants to cause me harm,” Gulliver shrugged. “She’s not exactly known for being truthful.”
“That’s true.” Thisbe leaned to look at January, “I can’t wait for you to see this bitch in person. She thinks she’s really tough, but I’d put my money on you any day. I bet you could take her down. Kaylee was telling me and Mitsos how you learned how to fire guns and you beat the shit out of things in your father’s garage. I was looking at the information coming in this morning on Duchess and she has not been spending her time in the clink getting strong. You know those movies where the prisoner does press–ups and gets buff? Not her. She’s been working in the laundry room, and she’s not well liked there, so she’s been given all the shitty jobs. I read one report where she was forced to wash bedding someone crapped in.”
Gulliver gave a wicked low laugh which made January look at
him in disbelief.
“You did not make that happen.”
“It’s a white–collar prison. I made sure she wasn’t getting the Martha Stewart experience. I’ve paid more people off in the vein of making her life a living hell than I have paid any other invoices in the last several years.”
