Clean Up Part II

The sound of the water being turned off caught her ear and the rip of the towel off the rack had her eyes watering. She wasn’t sure why she felt like crying all of a sudden, but she did.
“Tell me that you did deal with him? He might be alive, barely, but he’s been punished for his bullshit, right? The way he said he would leave Kaylee behind and take me away from her, you gave him hell for that?”
“Yes.” He moved to stand in front of her and lifted her chin, “look at me.” His eyes were serious. “I beat the hell out of all of them. I made Ford stitch Davis’s knife wound up. He was unimpressed with the job, but it kept Davis alive. Ford came up with some really grotesque ideas, which, I’m kind of glad you weren’t there for.”
“Like what?” she asked breathlessly, needing to hear that Davis and his merry band of fools suffered.
“Well, after I broke his knees, some ribs and his low back with a baseball bat that had some heft to it, we got some information from one of the guys who had lunch with Baldy today. He sang like a fucking canary to be honest. We got tons of intel from him. Then there were things only Davis could answer and so we

tortured him a bit. Ford chopped parts of the canary off, and force fed them to Davis.”
“No!” she covered her mouth in horror and then gagged.
“Now I’m not feeling nearly bad for not bringing you. You’re going to puke.” He was roaring at her facial expression and the way she was turning green in front of him.
“He made him a cannibal?” She was aghast, “seriously? She made him eat the other guy?”
“Ford is a weird fucker, my love. It’s effective though. Once Ford bashed the guy’s head open and forced an eyeball down Davis’s throat, Baldy started to talk quite a bit. Then he passed out from some pain which Glenn inflicted so we went back to Davis and soon we had him talking more too. He really truly believed he could make you love him because of some cosmic mate
connection.”
“Freak,” she muttered angrily.
He lifted her off the counter and carried her back to the room and set her on the bed. He lay down beside her. “We got all the information we needed about everything Davis had on you and our family. Davis and Baldy were both still alive but only because Glenn insisted you would want to be there to deliver the final blow. He said it was you who he’d been stalking and talking of destroying so it should be you who delivers his sentence. Now, if it’s not what you want, we can let it go and I’ll have Glenn deal

“I want to do it.” She rushed the words out, “he wanted to take me from Kaylee, Gulliver. He tried to blow up my parents.
He had his buddies harass my child and he painted a horrible picture of you over the years.”
“For the record,” he grinned unrepentantly at her, “I lived up to his stories tonight.”
“I am glad you did,” she wrapped her arms around his neck. “Did you get Duchess?”
“No but we got a bead on her. She used Davis’s cell phone, and she made calls to someone in New York. We got our IT guy to trace the calls and the messages. By morning I’ll know who it was who was betraying us by helping her. It won’t take long for us to find her.”
“Are you sure? I’m worried about her having help on the outside.”
“Personally, the way you beat her into the ground, I’m contemplating part of the reason we can’t find her is because she crashed the car somewhere, hopefully fatally.”
“We can only dream.” She studied his eyes and then touched his jaw, “last night was the scariest night of my life and I know I needed to be strong in the middle of it and to be brave, but I was scared, Gulliver.”

“Me too,” he admitted, “but you proved you are the woman meant to live in the role of my wife, January. You are everything I dreamed of and so much more. You were fucking incredible.”
“The way you managed to take out all those guys at the same time was shocking but it was sexy. It made me realize we were always safer with you than without you.”
“Sexy huh?” he grinned. “Are you still wide awake?”
“What do you have in mind?” she asked as her hands cupped his shoulders.
“I was thinking we could erase the unsavoriness of the night with some love, equally physical of course but you know, out with the bad, in with the good.”
“I could go for putting some goodness in me.” she giggled as he laughed at her wording.
“Then let’s try that.”
