Family Time Part II

January suddenly was scampering on the bed in search of her pajamas and then was hightailing it to the bathroom.
“What are you,” his voice trailed off in horror as he heard the sound of Kaylee talking loudly. “Fuck,” he rolled off the bed racing to the drawers of the built–in wardrobe for underwear. “Why is she up at the crack of dawn?”
The door to the bedroom flung open just as he hopped into his boxer.
“Dad! Mitsos and I are awake. We’re hungry. Are you getting up now?” She blinked bright blue eyes at him.
“Kaylee, it’s six o’clock.”
“I know but we have school.”
“We’re not going to school today,” he groaned and sent a desperate look to the closed bathroom door. All he wanted was some time to hold his wife, a couple hours of sleep and maybe a bit more alone time with his wife. He loved his daughter but after facing the danger of walking into a situation with no weapons with his and his wife’s life on the line, he was craving the closeness with his woman.

“Why aren’t we going to school?” Kaylee asked. “Is it about the

As Kaylee was talking a mile a minute, Gulliver began to trod towards the bathroom door and banged it with his fist.
“January, Kaylee wants breakfast”
“Then get it for her,” January called through the closed door, a laugh coating her voice.
“I just got in.”
She pulled the door open and looked at him through the crack, “I have three words for you.”
“What?”
“Henry the skunk.” She closed the door again.
“What is that supposed to mean?” he asked seriously. “What does the skunk have to do with anything?”
“It has everything to do with everything,” she called back. “I’ve dealt with seven years of all the sleepless nights and odd behaviors and waking up at the crack of dawn, along with skunks and rodents and worms in sandwiches.”
“Worms in sandwiches?” he asked completely confused as he looked at his daughter who shrugged. His eyes caught sight of Mitsos peeking in through the doorway. “Are you two sure you don’t need to sleep a bit longer?”

bald cop weren’t going to bug us. heard her say it to Thisbe,” Kaylee climbed onto the bed and started jumping up and down. “Did you beat them up?” she brushed her hair off her face as she bounced happily and waved at Mitsos to join her.
Gulliver caught him as he moved to the bed and then he grabbed Kaylee and flung her over his shoulder. “Come on. I think there’s cereal and milk in the kitchenette I need coffee if we’re staying up this early.”
“Dad you get up early every day!” Kaylee argued. Her eyes lit up as she dangled over his back and noticed January coming out of the bathroom. “Mom, my dad is going to make us breakfast.”
“Great. I think I’m going to go back to sleep and get some rest.”
Gulliver turning to shoot her an annoyed look made her smile. She stood on tiptoes, kissed his cheek, and then moved to crawl into the bed. “I need my phone. I need to call my mother and see if she wants to come babysit for a few hours.”
January laughed at Kaylee’s loud protests of such a thing.
“I want to spend time with my dad. If I don’t have to go to school, can’t we have a daddy and daughter day? I think it would be really fun to spend the whole day together,” she slapped his back, “hey, how come you’re all sweaty. Were you having bad dreams before you woke up? Sometimes when I have bad dreams I get all sweaty too.”
January was laughing as Gulliver took the kids from the room, one under his arm and the other over his shoulder, glaring at Beras he backed out.

She sent a quick text to Lottic to tell her she wouldn’t be into the shop and asked her to keep it closed for the day, January was worried Duchess would show up at her shop and hurt Lottie to get to her.
January snuggled into Gulliver’s pillow breathing in the scent of him and then caught movement at the door. He stalked towards the bed, his eyes glittering with amusement at how she managed to get under the blankets, was all cozied up and snug.
“You look comfortable.”
“I am.” She smirked up at him. “You look exhausted.”
He leaned over her, his hands on either side of her head and stared into her eyes, “our daughter is a menace.”
“Then why are you smiling?”
“Because she told me how much she loves me and that I’m the best dad in the world and somehow I have tons of energy and I might be good for a few hours.” He kissed her mouth lingeringly, “get some rest. Sleep as long as you want. I got this.”
“You sure?” she heard the raucous laughter from the two kids in the other room.
“Yeah. Like you said. You’ve had seven years of dealing with this. I can do a single morning. At least it’s not skunk related again.”
She lightly scratched his beard with her fingernails, “can I give 4/5 you a tip?”

“My parents are here in the hotel on the same floor as Thisbe. My mom is really missing Kaylee. I bet they would love to have her in their room.”
“Thank fucking god,” he straightened. “Keep my side of the bed
warm. I’ll be back soon.”
January laughed at his words and then burrowed into the pillow. She knew he had it all handled, herself included.
