He forced the pain down and he held her gaze as she tried to hurt him. “Is that all you’ve got? I always said you were a crazy psychopath. You’re not nearly as strong as you used to be. You used to have a decent body despite the face. I mean not that I’d ever hit that, but I know the guys talked about it but five years in the slammer have made you pretty skinny. You had all that downtime, and you didn’t work out at all? It’s a shame. Now the only thing you have going for you is your brain and that’s clearly been compromised.” He looked to her hand on his shoulder, “do you even realize you’re cutting yourself with your actions.”
“I loved you.”
“No, you didn’t,” Gulliver frowned at her. “You loved the idea of marriage where you could do whatever you wanted and I wouldn’t have said a fucking word. You took my silence for consent, but the truth is, it wasn’t that I was being accommodating, I really truly didn’t give a fuck who you fucked because I was never going to marry you. Even before January, I was never going to marry you. I hated you then. I hate you more now. I can’t wait to watch my wife kill you.”
“She’s nothing.”
“She is everything. She’s strong. She’s smart. She’s resilient. She protected our daughter and has raised her to be such a valiant26 spunky little girl that my grandfather spent one afternoon with

and decided she was going to succeed me. He’s changed his family rules to allow my daughter to rule and do you know why? Because January raised her to be strong, as strong as she is.”
“I’ll kill her too. Once I deal with your wife, I’ll kill your brat,” she hissed.
Gulliver wished his other arm weren’t broken because he’d love to strangle her to death. “What was that?”
She leaned close, right in his face, “I will kill your little brat.”
He headbutted her in the nose, making sure to close his mouth and eyes when he did because he knew she was going to bleed and she didn’t disappoint. She screamed with blood gushing out of her nose and the men rushed to help her while Gulliver laughed loudly at the scene.
One of the men turned a gun on him, “you asshole. You didn’t need to hit her. Didn’t your father tell you not to hit women?”
“No. He never did. My grandfather didn’t either. Equality and all that. If it’s an enemy, fight dirty.” Gulliver kicked his legs out then on the bed and with nothing more than dumb luck he was not to proud to acknowledge, he managed to get his feet around the man’s neck and snap it. “Well, that was surprisingly easy,” he muttered to nobody in particular.
He took the punch to the face from one of the other men as they dragged the guy away from his feet and all of the men in the room except for the guy helping Duchess were pointing guns at him with furious expressions.

“The lawyer is here!” Gulliver grinned at him, the pain and adrenaline and the spatter of Duchess’s blood on his face giving him a feral expression. “Excellent You’re all in one place. Easier to kill you all. Did you tell her yet? Did you let her know when you called Greece to talk to your employer you learned he’s dead and that everyone related to her is dead too?”
Duchess who was holding a towel to her face that one of the men gave her before he sat her in a chair screamed loudly. “He’s not dead. I’m going to fucking kill you Gulliver! I’ll kill you and her and your brat. I’ll take what I want from you and then you’re going to die a painful death!”
“You won’t get the chance, Duchess. If you’re horny though, this lawyer guy might help you out. He’s as old as your father but he dresses pretty well. I think it was really kind of him to come today already dressed for his casket.” He winked at the lawyer, “nice suit.”
Suddenly the lights in the house went out.
“What the hell?”
Gulliver started laughing loudly. “I told you, my brothers and my wife are coming to kill you all for taking me. She warned you not to touch me, Duchess,” he called into the darkness. “Now she’s going to exact her vengeance on you trying to take what is hers.”
“Impossible. There is no way they found us that fast.” The Byer spat angrily.

“What?” Duchess’s voice was muffled behind the towel she was still holding against her face.
“I’m chipped like a fucking dog from a shelter. It was Ford’s idea, given he’s a vet and all. You could probably scan it and find out where my address is and who owns me,” he realized he was likely going a bit nutty from the pain, the blood loss, and the relief of knowing he was about to be rescued.
“Guard the door!” Duchess screamed. “Get the drugs into him now. I don’t care how we do it, but I’m not leaving this room without his semen!”
“Someone find out what happened to the power.”
“Duchess, we need to get out of here. He wasn’t lying. Your grandfather is dead. We need to go and regroup and figure out what our next steps are, but your grandfather would not want you to die tonight. Let’s go!”
“No. I’m not leaving without the baby I’m due.”
Gulliver closed his eyes as the sound of a gun being fired
somewhere in the house made his heart sing.
“You’re not getting my come, Duchess. That’s reserved for one woman and one woman only.”

psychopath but between the darkness of the room, the blood he shed and exhaustion from not sleeping in two days, he realized not falling asleep was the hardest fight he’d faced in a long time.
