onfrontation Part II
The bald officer who was cradling his balls as he slowly got to his feet reached for his ringing cell phone.
“Hello?” his eyes widened as whoever it was on the other end of the line identified himself and then he paled and moved to sit down on the chair. “She just assaulted me, sir.” He paused and then he glared at January and Gulliver, “fine. Yes sir. I understand. We’re standing down and leaving now.”
He hung up the call and looked at his partner, “we have to leave
now.”
“Tell him who just called you. Go ahead. Tell your partner how the director of the eastern division just called you because my legal team was already addressing the fact you violated my wife’s privacy and my head of security, who is sitting next to our table, heard my daughter was scared of you and he immediately did his job. He notified my head legal counsel. See, I don’t need to give orders to my team. They know when it’s important to take initiative and to just get shit done. This is one of those things. Now my wife,” at her elbow in the ribs, he grunted, “the mother of my daughter, is not as trusting that I will do what it takes to ensure our daughter’s safety. However, let me make myself abundantly clear.” He straightened up and stood tall in front of the agents, “my family is off limits to you and your posse. I have an endless amount of wealth at my fingertips gentlemen. I’m going to use it all to punish you for what you f¿34

January couldn’t help but admit, Gulliver Crane Raptis when coldly delivering messages that clearly was meant to demonstrate, was a sexy bastard. It made her hate him more because she knew she’d been frothing at the mouth, red faced and feral while he was cool calm and collected.
“You don’t think so?” He lifted his phone up out of his pocket and sent a text. “By the time you get to your car, you’ve been fired. Your friend here who pulled the gun? Fired. The two men sitting outside who tried to slip air tags on my vehicles. Fired. Your buddy Davis who managed to convince you tagging and bagging me as a criminal was going to make your careers? You’ll all be fired by the time you get to your car. Don’t come for my family and think I’ll take it sitting down.”
He stepped back. “January, we should go back and check on Kaylee and make sure she’s not too upset over the fact a cop pulled a gun at you.”
She looked over her shoulder and saw her daughter staring but there was not an ounce of fear on her face. If anything, there was
awe and reverence.
“She seems fine.”
“January, I need you to go back so I can say one last thing. Plausible deniability my love. Please?” he waved her back.
She felt a frisson of excitement travel down her spine he look4

He laughed at her words as she walked backwards to the table, narrowly avoiding other tables and taking delight in the terrified expressions on the two men at whatever it was Gulliver was relaying to them. She almost chortled with glee.
“Mom! You kicked that police officer in the penis!” Kaylee exclaimed loudly as January bumped into their table.
January sat down in the seat where Gulliver had been sitting and pulled Kaylee into her arms and hugged her tight. “Kaylee, he scared you and that’s not okay. You have to know that we,” she waved around the table to her parents and herself, “will always keep you safe. When someone is scaring you, threatening you or making you uncomfortable, you need to let us know. You have to tell us.”
“He said I’d get in trouble.”
“Kaylee, how often do you get into trouble?” January asked her bluntly.
“All the time.” Kaylee frowned at her.
“So, what is one more time? You know I’ll do anything for you. You are my little girl, and I love you more than anything or anyone on this planet. It is my job to keep you safe, but I can’t do that if you don’t tell me when someone makes you feel worried. Even if it’s a risk you might get in trouble, tell us.”

with a skunk in the car. Do you think I won’t take on a dirty cop?” She cupped Kaylee’s cheeks and kissed her forehead, “no secrets like that again, understand?”
Kaylee hugged her tight and snuggled against her, “I love you Mom.”
“I love you too.”
Kaylee looked to where Gulliver was starting to come back, “my dad picked you right up off the floor. It was kind of funny.”
January looked at the man who was adjusting his cuffs as he casually strolled back to the table. He’d manhandled her, pressed his erection against her ass, and sexily pulled some power moves. A lesser woman would have swooned.
“You’re in my seat. I want to sit next to Kaylee.”
“Can’t she sit between us?”
“No because I want to sit by you as well.”
“What did you say to them?”
“Nothing you need to worry about.”
“They looked terrified.”

“I promised them.” He corrected and waved at her to move. ““Come on. I want to sit. Dinner will be right out.”
“I’m surprised we’re not thrown out.” She grumbled as she let Kaylee back in her own chair and slid sideways.
“While you were throwing punches, my security team were paying for everyone’s meals in the restaurant, tipping the entire staff, and getting the cameras erased. If you look around, not a single person is upset because their meals are all paid for and dessert is included.”
“Money talks?”
“Money always talks.” He looked at his phone and then back to her, “it talks so well that I kept my promise and all four of those men are now unemployed. Its so good to be rich.”
As he stretched his arm out behind her chair, she couldn’t help but admit he wasn’t wrong.
