He stepped back. “January, we should go back and check on Kaylee and make sure she’s not too upset over the fact a cop pulled a gun at you.”
She looked over her shoulder and saw her daughter staring but there was not an ounce of fear on her face. If anything, there was awe and reverence.

January sat down in the seat where Gulliver had been sitting and pulled Kaylee into her arms and hugged her tight. “Kaylee, he scared you and that’s not okay. You have to know that we,” she waved around the table to her parents and herself, “will always keep you safe. When someone is scaring you, threatening you or making you uncomfortable, you need to let us know. You have to tell us.”
