Chris was very satisfied with Francesca and even gave her a raise at the board meeting.
It meant Francesca was getting twice the salary.
When the financial report was submitted to the Wilder Group, Jessica naturally knew about it but said
nothing.
“The surgery is about to end, the outcome depended on this critical moment. Many paparazzi is already waiting at the entrance for the news. I had arranged for someone to provide psychological counseling to the family. In case the surgery failed, their emotions wouldn’t be too extreme.”
In fact, the family had long been prepared.
The child’s condition had lasted for more than two years, and so many hospitals couldn’t cure the
condition completely.
They had come to the Summit Infirmary with their last bit of hope.
They had spent all their savings.
Even if it failed, they didn’t have the ability to go anywhere else.
Ordinary people could only accept reality.
Chris had tried to reduce the surgery costs as much as possible and knew the family couldn’t afford
nearby hotels.
So he arranged several folding beds in the single wards so the family could rest briefly without
unnecessary expenses.
Everything that could be done was done, the rest depended on fate.
After drinking the red date tea, Chris gathered his energy to handle some official business while Francesca gave instructions one by one, and Chris signed at the end.
“The signing ceremony for Blake should be over by now. Paparazzi aren’t staking out at the Wilder Group’s entrance. What are they doing at the Summit Infirmary?” Chris turned on the TV, and Blake’s figure appeared prominently inside.
Francesca turned around. “The entertainment industry is one thing, our situation is different. By the way, Mr. Green, reporters from Neptune Media are also downstairs. From what I know, Neptune Media has stopped several hospitals from being listed before using some nasty tactics. We have to be careful.”
After closing the last file, Chris raised his head to look at Francesca.
Her expression didn’t change in the slightest, which meant she knew what was going on and could

“Isn’t that why we have you?” Chris handed back the file, their eyes met, and Francesca responded with a
nod. “The Summit Infirmary doesn’t have a public relations department, so I naturally have to handle this
job too. If I can’t manage it, there’s still Ms. Greyson.”
“There’s a celebration banquet tonight for the Wilder Group’s senior executives. Normally, you should
attend, but we also had to consider the patient’s situation. I cleared two hours for you to accompany Ms. Wilder at the dinner first, then come back. I’ll keep an eye on things here for you.”
When the Wilder Group signed an artist of Blake’s caliber, the senior executives prepared a celebration
banquet, and Blake was among them.
All the attendants were people within the Wilder Group, so there was no need for formal dress-
something simple would do.
The entire second floor of the Cosmos was booked.
To ensure privacy, besides the manager, Ethan, and the waitstaff, no one else could get close.
Even family members of the senior executives weren’t allowed.
Except for Chris.
During the banquet, Indya was gloomy, drinking two glasses of red wine in a row.
Her phone kept vibrating nonstop.
Shannon sat beside Indya and glanced down at the name on the screen.
“Your phone’s about to break the table with all that buzzing. Can you turn it off?” asked Shannon.
Indya propped her chin on her hand. “No way, I still have work calls to take. Might as well block the
number.”
“Hey!” Shannon stopped her. “You need to be in contact with him for the Montvue Tower project. If you block him now, what about our jobs?”
Indya sighed.
Jessica glanced over in this direction, puzzled.
Maggie whispered, “She ran into her ex–boyfriend at work.”
