As soon as someone was pulled out, the medical team quickly rushed over.
“This one’s not doing well. Pupils are already dilated. Get the epinephrine,” said Ashley as he flipped open the patient’s eyelids and immediately sensed it was bad. He quickly started emergency treatment.
This wasn’t an emergency room after all-the conditions here couldn’t compare to a hospital. They could only
perform the most basic emergency procedures.
The walkie-talkie clipped to someone’s pants suddenly crackled, followed by a someone shouting, “Any orthopedic doctors here? Someone on this side seems to have a fractured sternum and is coughing up a lot of
blood. We need the medical team to come check now!”
Ashley was an orthopedic doctor. His hands paused mid-action. Chris immediately stepped in to take over his
treatment. “Go. Be careful.”
The person furthest out already had stable vital signs. Jake brought his team over. As soon as Ashley left, Jake
and Chris took over his tasks-one administering the epinephrine, the other performing CPR.
“There’s a lot of mud in his mouth and nose. We need to clear it out right away,” said Chris, flipping the person
over and beginning emergency removal of the mud clogging the airways.
At that moment, thunder roared across the sky, and the rain started falling even heavier. It was pouring it
down.
“Set up
the rain shelter!” Lucas called out, ordering all the members of unit three to set up the rain cover
immediately. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to continue the rescue.
Blake was trekking through the mud and water with the rescue team and Sam.
From where they had parked to Montvue Tower, it would normally take half an hour on foot-let alone now,
with the danger and poor road conditions.
Every time they encountered something along the way, they had to stop and perform rescues. They even saved
two people on this path. Fortunately, their conditions weren’t critical, once they were dug out, they were fine.
After nearly an hour and a half, Sam could barely go on before they finally saw a six-story building in the
distance.
“That should be it,” said Blake. “Montvue Tower hasn’t started construction yet. The first thing built should be

Just as they were talking, there was a knock at the door. Everyone inside the first-floor lobby immediately fell
silent.
“Was I imagining things?” Linda pointed at the door. “Did someone just knock?”
Linda suddenly stood up. “Is it the rescue team?”
Jessica frowned. From yesterday until now, there hadn’t been a single sound. Even if the rescue team did come, they would focus on rescuing the most dangerous outer areas first. No matter how one looked at it, it didn’t
make sense for them to reach Montvue Tower by the second day.
Could it be Chris?
Jessica closed the project booklet. Just as she stood up, someone had already rushed to the door and pulled it
open.
The rain was pouring heavily. Even with just a small crack in the door, rain rushed in immediately.
The person standing outside had a raincoat hood covering their entire face. The only impression was that they
were very tall.
“Are you the rescue team?” someone from the project group asked anxiously. “Can we go out now? It’s not safe
here, right?”
Blake stepped forward into the room, head lowered as he scanned the surroundings, then locked eyes on Indya.
He raised his hand, removed the hood, and was already walking toward Indya.
The people from the Wilder Group all stood up in shock.
