Mr. Hickey was already in a bad mood, and seeing Oscar reminded him of how his reimbursements had been held up for so long, this only made him angrier.
He turned sideways to face Oscar and said, “Mr. Crown, looks like you’re trying to assert authority. It’s been two months, and our department’s reimbursements still haven’t been processed. Now the club’s approvals are also being held back. So what, is the Wilder Group under your control now?”
Oscar walked over and gestured to Laura and the other employees to find a place to stay while he dealt with Mr. Hickey.
He didn’t want to embarrass Mr. Hickey in front of so many people, nor did he want to invite him into his office.
“You shouldn’t say things like that,” said Oscar with a smile as he stood in front of Mr. Hickey.
“I’ve been the finance director for over five months. Why do I need to asset authority? Besides, the e–sports division is managed by the entertainment department, and all financial approvals from the entertainment department have to wait for FN’s signature and seal. I can’t just make an exception because of you, Mr. Hickey.”
Mr. Hickey waved his hand angrily. “Don’t try to fool me with that nonsense. Do you think I don’t know the process? I’ve been with the Wilder Group for almost 20 years – I know much more than you do.”
“Yes, you know a lot, so you shouldn’t make things hard for someone like me who’s just an employee,” replied
Oscar.
He noticed Chris standing not far behind Mr. Hickey, watching the scene. Just a quick glance was enough for Oscar to recognize Chris’s identity.
“This payment still has to wait for FN’s seal before the finance department can release it. For other matters, you can ask Ms. Wilder.”
With that said, Oscar straightened his sleeves, walked past Mr. Hickey without acknowledging his hostile glare, and walked straight up to Chris.
“Mr. Green, I’m Oscar from the finance department. I was on a business trip out of town before and had just gotten back. I believe we haven’t met yet.”
Chris extended his hand to Oscar. “Jessica has mentioned you before.”
“Are you here to see Ms. Wilder?” Oscar recalled Jessica’s expression during the meeting and quietly warned Chris, “Ms. Wilder isn’t in a good mood. It seems to be because of Miss Sophie.”
Chris nodded. From the corner of his eye, he saw Mr. Hickey muttering curses as he left with the finance report
in hand.
“Mr. Hickey still has such a temper,” Chris remarked.
Oscar acted as if he had long expected this and didn’t react much.
“Mr. Hickey is an old–timer at the Wilder Group, so people showed him some respect. But for people like us who were personally trained and promoted by Ms. Wilder, we only respect those who contribute to the company. To

put it bluntly, Mr. Hickey’s good days are over.”

The reason Mr. Hickey was still at the Wilder Group, and waiting for his retirement, was because he had worked alongside Mrs. Wilder and had contributed quite a lot towards the company in earlier years.
Before Jessica took office, Mrs. Wilder had already warned that the old–timers in the company should be left alone if possible. Their annual salaries and bonuses were meant to stabilize morale, and they were given whenever possible.
As long as these old–timers remained, Mrs. Wilder’s deterrent effect in the business world remained as well, which was also some support for her daughter.
“I’m just here to say hello. Mr. Green, you should go find Ms. Wilder. I guess Shannon and Maggie won’t be able to hold out much longer.”
Maggie was fine since she spent most of her time in the office organizing documents, but Shannon had been standing by Jessica’s side all day.
As long as Jessica didn’t speak, Shannon had to stand there like she was being punished. She had no idea how long it was going to last.
Chris knocked on the door and came in. Shannon glanced back and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Why haven’t you gotten off work yet?” Chris walked up to Shannon and gave her a meaningful look. Shannon immediately turned and left.
Outside the door, Oscar held a cup of coffee and watched the scene unfold.
Shannon rushed over, grabbed the coffee, and drank it all at once.
