Chapter 78
Gemma
“Get back here,” he said with a deep command in his voice.
A strong hand clamped around my wrist, holding me in place. I didn’t dare turn around.
“You know I have no patience.”
I closed my eyes and let out a soft sigh.
A moment later, I felt the warmth of his chest press against my back, his strong arms wrapping tightly around me. His hot breath tickled my ear, a silent reminder of the sex we just had been tangled–intimate, breathless, and utterly consumed by each other. I knew I should leave, that staying was dangerous. Tonight was just a mistake. I shouldn’t fall deeper,
But damn it—just this once, I would stay,
I kept trying to convince myself, repeating the excuse in my head.
Slowly, I turned my head to look at him.
Cassian understood my answer instantly. A hint of surprise flashed across his face before he pulled me back into his embrace, sinking with me into the warmth of the bed.

He held me tightly, his arms unyielding as if afraid I would change my mind. Like an eager pup, he buried his face against the side of my neck, inhaling deeply near my ear and cheek.
He wasn’t just holding me–he was wrapping himself around me, as if trying to claim me completely, I could even feel his half–hard penis rubbing against my leg, and it was gradually swelling.
I was exhausted from the sex just we had, and I didn’t want to do it again, but I was so weak that I could barely move.
My limbs felt heavy, and my breath was still uneven. Just when I thought he was about to start the next round, Cassien pressed a soft kiss to my forehead as he stood up, completely unclad. My eyes trailed over him–tall, strong, every muscle carved as if he was made to ruin me.
“Care for a drink?” he asked, his voice smooth and effortless
I was mesmerized by his body and could only nod dumbly. A small smile tugged at his lips before he turned away, walking towards the small table across the room.
Get a hold of yourself, idiot.
Cassien poured me a glass of ice water and walked over to the bed, completely unbothered by his lack of clothing.

I sat up, avoiding his gaze, doing my best not to look… down.
When I reached out to take the glass, he gently stopped me.
Confused, I looked up at him.
He brought the glass to my lips, then his other hand gently caressing my cheek. His thumb brushed against the corner of my mouth, a silent demand.
“Open,“he murmured, his voice was deep and seductive.
I obeyed.
The ice water flowed past my lips, cooling my burning throat, but some of it slipped free, trickling down my chin and over the curve of my neck. The sensation sent a shudder through me, It felt like a jolt of electricity running across my skin.Cassin’s gaze darkened, locked onto the droplets as they disappeared beneall the sheet barely covering me. His breathing turned rough, his chest rising and falling with controlled restraint.
His wolf was stirring beneath his skin–I could feel it.
I knew what he was thinking. I glanced down and saw that his penis was already raised high.
“You’re tempting me, sweetheart,“he rasped, his fingers trailing lower, brushing against my collarbone. “And you don’t even realize it.”

A slow, knowing smirk curled his lips. He set the glass aside and leaned in, his breath warm against my damp skin.
“I should let you rest,” he murmured, though the glint in his eyes said otherwise.
But neither of us moved away.
His hands cupped my face, constantly brushing my lips, even reaching out with two fingers to touch my tongue.I feel my nipples harden, maybe because of the ice water, or maybe because of his hand.
“You know, tonight is still very long,”
Under the moonlight, desire swelled endlessly, and once again, I was pulled into chaos by Cassian.
The next morning,
“Babe…”
A deep voice jolted me awake, pulling me from the depths of sleep. My brows furrowed as I struggled to open my eyes, the sunlight spilling through the large windows.
Damn! It was already morning…
I couldn’t face this scene–especially with Cassian still lying

beside me, gazing at me so gently.
Panic surged through me.

I immediately grabbed the sheets, wrapping them around myself like a startled rabbit, and bolted for the bathroom.
Slamming the door shut, I locked it behind me.
“Hey! Geema, open the door!” Cassian’s voice came from the other side.
“Last night, we just got what we needed from each other. Don’t take it too seriously,” I said loudly, trying to steady my voice.
There was a brief silence outside the door.
Then, Cassian chuckled–a low, knowing sound that sent a shiver down my spine.
“Is that what you really think, Geema?” His voice was calm, almost amused. “Then why are you hiding?”
I gritted my teeth, gripping the sink as I glared at my reflection. “I’m gonna shit! So fuck off!”
Cassian let out a laugh, completely unfazed. “Nice try, Geema. But we both know you’re just running away.”
“I rolled my eyes. ‘Sorry, we’re in the middle of a divorce. It’s

better if we keep our distance.“”
“What a pity,” he drawled. “Last night didn’t seem that way.”
There was a pause. Then, in an exasperated tone, he said, “Fine. Take your time. But you’re not getting out of this conversation.”
I heard him walk away, but I knew better than to think he was really leaving.
I can imagine Cassian must be really mad. I stayed in the bathroom for a long time. I only opened the door when it was completely quiet outside.
Cassian isn’t used to being challenged. I thought he’d be there, waiting, furious. But he wasn’t.
I quickly grabbed my clothes from yesterday, threw them on messily, and rushed downstairs. Just as I stepped off the stairs a maid walked out of the kitchen and startled me.
“Luna?”
I was surprised. “Don’t call me that.” Then I paused and asked, “Where’s Cassian?”
“The Alpha went to the council center.”
“So he’s not home?”

I felt relieved. If he wasn’t here, I could escape easily.
But then, a servant dragged a suitcase out of the kitchen.
“Luna, should I put your things in the master bedroom?”
