‘Oh, you have got to be kidding me!” James growls. This fuckhead has rejected our Sophie because of her scar, is he fucking serious! The growl that leaves me shakes the ground below our feet and it takes all I have not to snap his fucking neck right here, right now. I wrap my arms around Sophie and feel her sag into my body. 

best friends but every time she looks in the mirror she Poor girl! Her life hasn’t been easy since that day, not only did she lose her sees her scar and she’s reminded of that awful day… those dreadful memories. And now to have her mate reject her for something that isn’t her fault? For him to take all of her pain and use it against her… hell no! That prick is going to be sorry. 

She starts to sob into my chest filling my veins with anger while I will myself to calm down before I completely lose my shit here in front of everyone. “Why’s it such a big deal? Mates get rejected all the time. Sometimes it has to happen so we can have someone else, a second chance mate. Sometimes that’s the Moon Goddess’s plan and that must be the plan now because there’s no way th Goddess would land me with her. No way!” Sophie’s body rocks as her sobs get harder causing me to hold on to her t

“You have no idea, do you? You have no idea what you have done, but you’re going to.” I growl. My words seem to finally enter his thick brain and within seconds his look goes from cocky to scared and it fucking pleases me. “What’s going on here?” I turn my head to see that prick of a Beta that I dislike heading towards us before he stops at the side of Sophie’s so–called mate. “What’s it to do with you?” Shane growls. “He’s my son.” Of course, he fucking is! I knew I didn’t like either of them. 

“Your son has just rejected his mate.” I try to keep my tone calm for Sophie’s sake but it’s hard. His reaction surprises me as he looks shocked while looking between his son and me, probably trying to see the girl who’s supposed to be his son’s mate. “Why, son? I thought you wanted your mate.” His son laughs, and he laughs as I watch Shane hold James back. “Take a look at her, dad.” He looks at me and then takes a step forward as I tighten my hold on Soph, however she shocks me by pulling back and holding her head up high. 

“Let him see. I have nothing to hide!” Dam right she doesn’t. “That’s my girl.” I place a kiss on her head as she takes a step to the side of me. I hear a gasp somewhere in the crowd but I don’t pay it much attention as I keep my focus on the situation that’s in front of me. “fair enough, son. I would have done the same. The Moon Goddess has other plans for you.” Oh hell no! I go to take a step forward but my dad appearing in my view brings me to a halt while two of our warriors hold on to Shane and James. 

“Not here, son. He will pay for this but not now and not here. there are too many people. We have to choose our time wisely.” My dad’s mind link stops me from taking another step, same with my brothers. He’s right, it’s not right to do anything about it now but I will… We will and fuck will he pay. “There’s no more to see here so shall we get back to enjoying this wonderful ball!” My dad bellows out to the crowd surrounding us. He may not officially be Alpha anymore but he still holds the respect of everyone he meets and it shows as the crowd quickly disappears leaving just him, me Sophie and my brothers standing together. 

‘Come with me, darling girl.” My mom appears out of nowhere and quickly whisks Sophie away with her arms wrapped around her giving her all the love and support she needs right now. You would think that Sophie has been through enough heartbreak in her life but the attack and her scar were just the start of it.
