Chapter 171 

“In regards to the pricks we were fighting, yes all is good but… fuck… Robbie, just get your ass here now and as many men as you can find on the way. We’re not fighting but it’s just as important!” There is an urgency in his voice that has my feet moving before he’s even finished talking. I gather all the spare men I can find and within minutes we’re standing in front of a pissed–looking Shane and several other men. 

“Ok, we’re here. What’s going on?” He shifts on the spot but I don’t miss how his hands shake as he balls them into fists at his side. He calls out to Warren, Cole, Wayne, and Will and has them follow us to a quieter section which only piques my interest. “So when Nick and Tony entered their building they saw some of those pricks leading away children and women… pregnant women. They were trying to get them away before we saw them.” 

“Are you fucking kidding me!” I bellow as I feel my anger once again rise. If there’s one thing I detest in life it’s any harm coming to 

women or children. I will happily take down any fucker who thinks it’s ok to mess with them. “I wish,” Shane grunts as he grinds his teeth. 

I’m not the only one who struggles with this type of thing, most of our pack members do but my brothers and I… yeah, it’s at the top of 

our shit list. 

“How many?” Warren asks. “Not completely sure but, I believe around 50 children and 20 women. Five of the women are heavily 

pregnant too.” 

“Where are they?” I ask. I can’t see a single child around here. “Over there.” He points behind himself and I feel my heart beat faster when I realize what he’s showing us. “They tried to hide them in there but Tony saw them before they left them in there.” 

“Ok, what do you need from us, Beta Shane?” Cole asks looking more than eager to get this going. 

“I’m not sure what has been said down there but Alpha has asked for five of my best men to go down there and help protect those women. I think he wants each of you to guard them. One on one” 

Of course, there’s more to this than he has told us but im also sure that there’s more going on down there than even he knows of right now. We’ll find out everything later but for now, we have a job to do and im more than happy to help get those women and children out of there. “Ok, let’s get in there then,” I growl as I head for the spot that Shane pointed to, and soon all five of us are inside and faced. with rows and rows of children as they stare at us with nothing but fear in their eyes, and it honestly guts me. Fuck, these poor kids! 

As soon as are inside the door is closed and after a quick chat with Nick he assigns me to a girl who’s standing at the back of the room, I call it a room but its more like a metal box and the moment I reach the girl I’m back to being angry. She can’t be any more than 17/18 and she is seriously heavily pregnant. I mean I’m not an expert when it comes to pregnant women but I’ve seen my fair share on the pack lands and I’d stay she’s due to give birth any time. Fuck those bastards. 

I wish I could bring them back from the dead so that I could kill them more painfully this time. I don’t care how any of them died, it still wasn’t painful enough for what they deserve. I step up close to her to introduce myself but stop in my tracks when she takes a step back from me while putting a protective hand over her bump. Her whole body is shaking and her arms are covered in bruses and I’m beyond pissed but I use every ounch of strengh that I have to mask my anger with the hope that it will help settle her. 

“What’s your name, sweetheart?” She looks straight at me but remains quiet. “It’s ok. I’m here to help you. I’m not going to hurt you. Nobody here is going to hurt you. We just want to get you all somewhere safe. You and your babies. Okay?” She continues to stare at me

but eventually she gives me the smallest of smiles and nods her head. 

“I’m, Jenny.” 

“Well, it’s lovely to meet you, Jenny. My names, Robbie.” 

“Hi, Robbie. How…how did you find us?” 

“We acually came here to look for-” My words are cut of when the door to the box is once again opened and a strong gust of wind blows right through the place and freezes me to the spot, only it’s not the wind that has my feet rooted to the spot no, it’s the most amazing smell that I have ever known hitting me full force in the face that has me frozen. Could it be… 

“Robbie, I smell our mate. She’s in here!” Jax my wolf practically shouts in my ear. “Fuck, is she seriously in here? Have we finally 

found our Mate?”

I may not voice it greatly but I’ve wanted to find my mate since the moment that I turned 18. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy for my brothers that they have found their mates but I won’t deny that it’s also been hard to witness. I take a look around the room and then it hits me that none of the women in here appear as if they have just picked up the scent of their Mate. “What’s going on, Jax?” 

“I’m not sure.” He grunts sounding a little pissed. “Maybe who ever it is can smell us but is to afraid to say anything. Given the circumstances it’s understandble” 

“Maybe but… Robbie… I can’t pick up the scent of our mates wolf.” That’s strange unless… “Maybe she doesn’t have a wolf like Rosie or maybe it’s in hidden because of what’s gone on here.” 

“That could be true but I don’t know, Robbie… I’ve got a strange feeling about this.” We could go back and fore this like all day but we don’t have long until well need to get out of here and I’ll be dammed if I don’t find out who my mate is before we leave.

“Lets take a walk around the room before we have to go.” Jax suggests and my feet start moving before I’ve even said a word. We take our time walking around not to scare any of the women but the space isn’t that big and soon enough we’ve walked around all of them and not one of them has the scent that we can still smell. What the fuck? 

An idea suddenly comes to mind and while I hope I’m wrong I have to find out. Before the guys start hauling all of the children out of here I move to the front to help them up the ladder. I help haul all of the little ones up first then stand by incase one of older ones need any help. I watch every single one of them climb up the ladder but just as the last one starts to make her way up it hits me… the smell of my mates scent once again hits me. Fuck!
