I don’t want us distracted for too long so I close the link bringing our attention back to the room only to find Talon trying to head my way. What the fuck does he think he’s doing now? “I’ve told you who I am, how I got here, and why I am here now it’s only fair that you hand over my mate and let us leave. While I appreciate you taking care of her until I could come get her, I don’t appreciate your holding her here against her will 

He takes a few wide steps in my direction while the guards surrounding him look to Nick for direction but I don’t know what he says as my attention is taken away from him when I feel someone pulling on the back of my shirt. 

I turn around and feel the breath leave my lungs when I come face to face with my mate, her scent engulfing my senses and stirring up so many feelings inside of me in such a short space of time that I feel like I’m about to pass the fuck out. Her grip on my shirt is lost as I spin around but her hand lingers close to my chest as if she’s resisting the urge not to hold my shirt once again. 

“Please. Her voice is barely a whisper and while I’m not 100% sure that I heard her right, the fear that I do hear in her voice alone has my protective side flying to the surface. I lean down a little so that I’m closer to her face and fight to hold back a groan as her scent gets even stronger. “What did you say, 

Sweetheart? 

She keeps her eyes on the floor but I hock a single finger under her chin and raise her head so she has to look at me. I want to demand her attention, to tell her that I’m her mate and that she is safe with me but I can’t so while reminding myself of that and the fact that she is only 17 I do my best to give her a reassuring smile praying that it will help her even in the smallest way. 

“You’re safe here, ok? I’m not going to let anyone hurt you, none of us will.” She gives me the smallest of smiles and fuck does it make my heart skip a beat. ‘I said please,” She whispers but this time her voice is a little louder and I can hear her. “Please what?” She looks past me to the prick behind me before looking back at me. 

. “Please, don’t let him take me. I promise I’ll be good. Or if you don’t want me here then that’s ok, I’ll leave and you’ll never have to see me again but please, don’t let him take me, I’m begging you.” Her voice is desperate as she once again grips my shirt. She seems so lost in her head that for a moment she doesn’t even realise that she is doing it. 

She looks back at Talon and it’s then that I see the fear in her eyes before she brings her attention back to me where she sees her hand that’s wrapped around the end of my shirt. She quickly lets go and I don’t miss the slight tremor in her hand. “I’m sorry, goddess I’m so sorry.” What the hell has my girl been through? I take hold of her hand and guide it back to my shirt wrapping her fingers around the end. It’s comforting her so I’m not about to take it away from her. 

‘Maybe she’s sensing that she can trust us without even realizing that she is our mate.” Cane comments and I have to agree. She seems different with me to the others. I hope she can sense something. I hope she feels safe with me because over my dead body will I let anything happen to her regardless of 

her age? 

I feel a presence at my back just seconds before Nick, Shane and Will all come to stand beside me and I instantly feel Aria’s grip on my shirt tighten even more. “Robbie.” Fuck, who knew that someone calling my name could evoke so many emotions inside of me. 

“Please.” She pleads making me realise that I haven’t answered her. 

‘You’re not going to do anything that you don’t want to. I promise.” My words are firm and said that way for her to know that I’m not messing around here. She’s my mate and she’s staying here where she belongs with me, even if she can’t know any of this for a while. “Promise?” She asks for a moment showing me her youth and vulnerability. “I promise.” It’s a promise that I have every intention of keeping.
