Where are they? Nick asks as he comes to a stop beside Shane. “Robbie and he took them to their cells but they haven’t come back yet. They are. probably in the guard room.” He nods and then I watch as he starts looking at us all just randomly standing around and instantly looking confused. “What’s going on? I have a feeling that I have missed something. I bite back a laugh at him repeating Shane’s question word for word. Those two are more alike 

than they will ever know. 

“I asked the same thing when I got here but I think I’ve already figured out the answer,” Shane smirks and shoots me a wink causing my shit–eating grin to once again appear. Nick gives me a questioning look but then sees my arm that’s still wrapped around Sophie and I’m pretty sure that he instantly figures 

it out. 

“Do you have something to tell us, brother?” He smiles as he asks the question but of course, the prick in the cell can’t keep his mouth shut and instead has to ruin my moment. “Well, you see, Alpha Nicholas. It appears that your brother here is Scarface’s second chance mate, poor bastard!” 

Blood pumps through my body so hard that I feel it pound in my ears as I move Sophie to the side of me and storm toward Rowan’s cell. “You have just made your death so much more painful than it needed to be! Open the mother fuckers cell so I can end him!” My roar makes the floor shake and my body. I turn to face Shane but he hasn’t moved, but Nick has, and within seconds he standing in front of me. “Will, I need you to calm down, brother. I know you want to kill him and I get it, believe me, I do. I want to kill him myself for many reasons but we can’t yet.” 

The rational side of me knows what he’s saying is true but it feels almost impossible to calm myself down enough to not kill him right now and Theo isn’t helping either. “Let me at him, I’ll rip him apart nice and slowly!” I should tell him to calm down but I want to do the same thing and if it wasn’t for the fact that we need to keep him alive longer to help protect Bonnie then I would have already set Theo on him. 

I stay standing right in front of the cell door as both Nick and Shane try to calm me down enough but it’s not working and I don’t think anything will. That is until I feel a small soft hand on my back and instantly know that it’s Sophie. “Will, I don’t know what he’s done but it’s clear that he needs to be kept alive a little longer. Please listen to your brothers.” Her voice is so soft, so fucking gentle that it makes my heart jump. 

I take a deep breath before turning around so fast that we bump chests and have to reach out and grab her hand to stop her from falling backwards. Both my brothers and that prick should be thanking my mate because she is the only person who is capable of stopping me right now. I give her a smile which she returns but I don’t miss that look in her eyes, Rowan’s words have gotten to her but I’m about to make sure she knows exactly what’s going on 

here. 

I link Nick telling him I need a moment before taking Sophie’s hand and pulling her along behind me as I take her to a little side room that is used for storage. There are no cameras in here so we can have full privacy. The moment I close the door behind us Sophie lets go of my hand and takes a step back from me. `Gamma will. I understand your position and why you need to reject me and I just want you to know that it’s okay. I won’t be mad. I have survived one rejection, I’m sure I can survive another one.” 

I look into her eyes and the sadness in them is enough to make my heart crack. She thinks this is what I want. She thinks it’s something that I need to do and she’s more than willing to let me do it. She is willing to sacrifice herself and her wolf for me to be happy.
